Opinions about this, that, and the other are everywhere. Someone stated on FB that a lot of things feel deliberate in some of the writing. Saying that the show is intentionally emasculating the men, the black men in particular. I don't know, but you can't ignore how they keep the character of Ted moving. Even Bill is looking like more of a victim now. He threw away his marriage and family unit to be sucked in by some PYT who just wants to kill him for his money. And then there's old man Vernon. Please don't tell me that they're writing this old man, who should know better, as carrying on with some other woman, young or old. Smh.

The jury will always be out for me as to whether or not Eva is Ted's child. Let's just say that there was no implication, nor was it shown, that Ted had "dotted all the I's and crossed all the T's regarding this matter. I didn't understand him just accepting this parental allegation by word of an unhinged mistress.

You're right! There's A LOT, on paper, that should've actually worked from the very beginning. They established these characters with very interesting backgrounds that could've given most, if not all, of them intriguing stories from the jump. Backgrounds such as........ Current and retired senators, Psychiatrist, Plastic Surgeon, Cardiologist, Real Estate mogul, Investigative Reporter, Nurse, Firefighter, Police Detective, Lawyers, one with his own firm, Former model, designated playboy (where are all of those brokenhearted women Andre left behind?), town gangster...and so on.

Good character revelation, even though I kinda think it was something of a rewrite. If so, that's OK. Because soaps used to do this quite a bit in the past with pretty good results. Now, will they allow this plot to flow decently, maintaining audience interest, or will they suddenly put it on the shelf and return to it in February of 2026?

If news ever drops that she's joining the cast anytime soon as some unnamed character, let the speculations begin..........

Well hello COUSIN Randy. Well I'll be. Little Hayley got herself some family now. I always thought she kinda favored Candace from The Haves and The Have Nots. Now she seems to be developing Candace's attitude too. It's already working for her.

An emphatic NO to Kat/Jacob for various reasons but also because Kat doesn't fit the bill of allowing herself to be in a most tacky position of being "the other woman." That’s reserved for low rent women like Hayley and Leslie. Kat is bougie and high maintenance.

I'm inclined to believe that Ted was pulling a con job on Leslie, or so I hope.

Looks like an AI generated image for The Wizard of Fairmount. "Follow the magenta brick road, perhaps?"

I can't help but wonder how to interpret it. 😳

This new show is being replaced with reruns of some old series from the 80s? 🙄

What is Joey going to want from Martin in return for his help in rescuing Chelsea? Smitty's right. Danger lurks with Joey so ain't no telling what kind of a price Martin will have to pay.

Right! "Walk and chew gum at the same time" is what the really old folk used to say back in the day. Also, that's exactly what EON managed to accomplish. There were plenty of traditional soap moments while incorporating equal amounts of suspense.

Perhaps this is the answer. MJV hiring some crime fiction writers to give it more of that vibe. The late great Henry Slesar was awesome by the way, and The Edge of Night was simply one of a kind. Yall done "got me in my feels" so what the hell, here goes..............

Hey, I'm not complaining about Jacob at all. Even if he defied his daddy then great. His daddy is a criminal who has been arrogantly lying to him, so go Jacob.

I still think this show has been hella predictable. Too predictable oftentimes, but good job today on the revelations of Craig. He's still breathing first of all. I actually thought, like many others, that he'd been done in at some point by crazy Allison. But nope! Then comes the revelation that he's one of Joey's paid whores. I really didn't see any of that coming. It was a good way to use the revelation we got months ago about Joey also owning an escort service specializing in male sex workers.

Whatever happened to Jacob being assigned desk duty? Looks like he defied his duplicitous daddy.

So Craig is a "working girl" for Joey? Craig is probably going to end up being more incorporated into the show solely because of that.
-
BTG: August 2025 Discussion Thread
Well, Craig is still alive as I've read elsewhere that people thought he was dead via Allison. Not her husband or boyfriend? I guess just some bum looking for a bag?

Yes. I wouldn't mind SOME soap tropes being considered for this show. The natural disaster dynamic is always a proven good one, as we've seen many times with the soap predecessors. The other one, and it's kinda been mentioned ad nauseum, though I think will always apply, is that second family. Not some dirt poor family reminiscent of the Evans family from Good Times, but a working class brood to clash with the uppities aka Duprees. Again, it's one that always worked in the past and it would work with BTG too.

OK. We're already seeing possible innuendo about Jacob and Kat immediately on the heels of innuendo about Old man Vernon? I'm all for drama but too much of the same thing practically back to back is ridiculous. Does drama not exist in any other form besides swapping bodily fluids by people who shouldn't have or shouldn't?

Lol. See what I mean? Veronica was taunting that white cop who had a thing for her son Jeffrey. I can envision Leslie taunting Ted's weak a$$ exactly like this.

I think with the pacing being too fast or too slow, they are still missing the mark in a lot of ways, but that's mostly because it's not being written to begin with. Leslie seems much less Sheila Carter now, and more of a watered down Veronica Harrington. Veronica was both crazy and very cartoonish.
