Thanks @Wendy I'm not sure if I ever knew that. That Augusta/Dash stuff was awful. Quite a shift from show that a couple years earlier was criticizing GH for romanticizing rape and the rapist.

I wish I could help but those are the parts I've never seen lol. I don't think Kelly really makes sense once CG is on the scene- like the writers made her so different. I could kind of buy Kelly suddenly seizing on Robert simply bc he wanted Eden and not her- I mean everyone else except Cruz and Kirk always fell all over Kelly. So one guy doesnt and she cant stand it. But it's just so vastly different from how RW portrayed her and how she was written. I don't recall there ever being any jealousy bw the two before. ETA like a week ago I watched a clip from shortly after they thought Eden was dead and Kelly was kind of bitchy bc she thought CC was thinking about Eden instead of Kelly.

Yeah what is the point of that? Just seems contemptuous. Is there a point to this storyline with Sophia getting into acting again? Or does it start and fizzle.

That's awesome. Is that Jade kissing Danny?

Julie Ronnie always sounded just kind of nasally and irritating to me.

@Marissa Gallant re Cassandra- when I watched this live I was 13 or 14- I was really into Cassandra's storylines with Mason and Warren, but I don't think I was old enough to really understand the mix of love/hate or whatever went on in those relationships. I was an angsty teenager though, so that aspect of it appealed to me lol. I have not rewatched it since, so I only vaguely remember though. So is the consensus the last Laken - Shell D - was the best? I just watched a clip and she seems the best actress maybe?

Ted would be an easy mark.

For me the storyline I would include would be- - the who killed Channing storyline - Mary and Mason - the baby storyline with Mason and Julia - a bit about the Brick reveal - maybe the Kirk/Eden storyline? - maybe the Kelly and Joe storyline? It was generally popular wasn't it?

Funny that's how I feel. I'm just on the cusp of 1990. But I kinda want to start over. I went back and started organizing my collection bc it needed tidying up. (Yes I have too much time on my hands this week lol) Was reading the episode descriptions and start to get pulled in. Eden and Lionel in the graveyard. Augusta slapping Eden. Good times lol. The Suzanne storyline is awful and has no resolution. The only part of it that is remotely interesting is the final clip where Eden comes back as Channing and shoots Sophia but I get most people wouldn't like that either. I'm not seriously watching it, just the occasional clip. Hate watching I guess.

Every once in rare while when I'm bored I will watch a few minutes post Eden going over the cliff in 1991. I think I'm trying to decide if I ever want to rewatch it again lol. Is there anything decent about the Suzanne storyline? It all seems like hot garbage to me. Even the actors didn't like it- while A didn't. Not sure why I'm torturing myself with it lol. Actually I do know- I haven't seen it really since it first aired and I'm just curious, but coming up to the first ep with her and blech. Even her hair was just awful.

I'm coming up to 1990 and I've never seen it before. It seems kind of like a dud. Other than what happens with Robert/Quinn etc. Like I won't watch that shaman story lol. I'm interested in the orphans and Cassandra but it also kind of sounds like a big nothing Burger.

I'm with @Wendy I guess. Witherspoon was AWFUL. Much as I prefer Eden, I like CG's portrayal and she did have chemistry with RB. I could not watch any Kelly storyline before she came bc I wasn't into the boyfriend of the day stories she was inevitably in. And often cut off from what was going on with the rest of the Capwells. ETA well she still had boyfriend of the day stories lol. So I could see the irritation with that but it was a throughline regardless of actress.

I really enjoyed the storyline up until Eden as Suzanne started. It was just beyond belief that no one would recognize her, and I think A Martinez has said it was his least favourite storyline. The reasons for it - that she saw Sophia and Lionel- are a bit farfetched but as soaps go not the worst I've seen for split personalities. The fact that she had lost time before - her time with Robert on the island- kind of supported the later story, which I thought was interesting even though I assume it was unintended. Also the stealing bc she got into that with Robert, too. Not that I thought she was another personality when she met Robert but people with those issues can lose chunks of time. The ending though yes was terrible.

There are some on YT. Mind some of the ones with Russian titles/channels have eps that are actually English. There are a bunch that have Eng in the title so you can tell, but some you have to check.

I didn't mind Terry L, he just has a comfortable presence on screen. However I will say- I started watching SB late in its run, like 1991. I was a teenager- the only Mason I ever knew was GT and I really liked him. However, now that I have watched LD throughout his entire run on the show, at least 2x- I find GT much harder to take. He just couldn't pull of the vulnerability and warmth that LD could. Maybe if I watch it straight through he will grow on me again. But I'm still mired in 1988. Almost done and then I may take a month off or so before getting back to where I was in 1989.

But Palace Guard didn't work out and MW never came back. I've never looked at how long it was on the air but SB would've still been airing. Maybe it was already dead in the water. That Suzanne dreck was beyond awful. I hung in only to see if it would resolve and when MW left so did I.

Yeah I don't think BTS issues means a show won't be objectively good and win awards. A lot of great shows and movies were a complete nightmare BTS.

Yeah this is pretty much what I think, although I'm not sure she was great at everything. She was rich and beautiful and just dabbled in whatever crossed her mind for 6 months and then moved on. Bc of her position nobody would have told her if she actually sucked. I liked CG's Kelly slightly better, but I think ultimately even she grated on me. @sb34 I'm not really into the fan fic stuff but with Eden I alternate between thinking it is both ironic and fitting that she would abandon her family much like Sophia did, and being really pissed off bc Eden would never have abandoned her family BC of what Sophia did. So for me it is less about Cruz and more about what her leaving/ the way she left means in the context of the Capwell family and their history. I mercifully never watched much after MW left.

I'm always surprised by how popular Dane Witherspoon was. I thought a stick of wood had more charisma and acting skill. Like by all accounts he was a good person so I feel bad saying that but I found him unbearable to watch on SB.

1984 when it started was definitely rocky. For me it got better when Eden joined but honestly I wasn't into the early storylines much. Unless you're a Kelly fan, which I wasn't.

Except Marcello had no interest in Eden did he? I also don't think Marcello was an Italian count. I wonder if he was referring to Eden's time in Europe when they first met. So that would have been off screen. They spoke about it early in 1984- Cruz first meeting her in Europe. Except that never made sense really, bc he grew up with practically every other living soul in SB wxcept the Capwells? I may be remembering wrong.

The only thing I remember is the Circle of Truth. In which Lionel lied I think lol. The pigeon thing was done in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane first. I always thought it was weird in SB.

I've been watching old GH too and I can tell you when Susan Moore was murdered Heather had no problem getting into the Quartermaine mansion to try to incriminate Alan. I think a few others wandered in, too.
