    GH: Patricia Spencer in 2015

They cast Dee Wallace. Cast Patricia's Daughter, Valerie a contract role but Kill Pat off . And then to learn Dee Wallace would have loved to recur in the role.

I get that, its just that it semed like they could have played story beats for a while longer at least for six months

Dee Wallace from Lassie? Ha I would have enjoyed seeing her on a soap!

That's the thing: there WAS no pitch.  At least, not according to Genie herself.  DAYS signed Genie, then they gave her a "character" that was only supposed to last, like, an episode or two.

At first, they tried pairing her with Michael T. Weiss (ex-Mike Horton), but when it was clear that wasn't going to work, they paired her up with Drake Hogestyn, which did work (much to many people's surprise, I imagine).

Beyond that, however, DAYS never really knew what to do with Genie or Diana.

But with Lloyd Bridges and Geraldine Page obviously not committed to working beyond the pilot, how was that gonna be possible?  Either they should have cast both parts with actors willing to "slum it" on daytime, or just not bother with the characters at all.

IIRC, too, when Emma Samms did leave the second time, she talked to one of the soap mags (SOD?) about how disappointed she was in how the show treated her; like she felt that coming back might've been a mistake (which I guess it was?).

I wouldn't have minded Nikki Langton remaining in Port Charles and married to A.J., but they definitely needed to recast.

Indeed Diana was wasted she happened to be Drake's best Pairing in the years without Deidre, but instead of Developing their chemistry they kept A barrier between them with Marlena's ghost

As for 2019 I prefer to ignore it, they totally revamped the character, wouldn't it be easier to simply have brought Judith back as Anjelica?

Pop Tv Yes GIF by Schitt's Creek

I agreed with you 100%. At that time on the show both could've flourished. It was brought up in the tribute thread that Taylor Miller was asking to be paired with David Canary and that storyline just writes itself with the Cortlandt/Chandler history. IMO, Adam was wasted and kept redoing the same thing after his storyline with Gloria. So i would have enjoyed him Honestly falling for Nina.

Erica was in a sweet spot before she kidnap Maria's child. I felt like they needed to focus more on her new friendships with Janet and Skye and how she learns to coexist with other women. More focus on her being a business mentor, Giving her and David a real chance at a romance etc....

Wow I would have loved to See Adam falling for Nina, Would have been great Imagine Brooke and Her fighting?

Many people say that Tara's Return was totally wasted I agree, first They didn't seem to care about her appearance she was a contemporary of Erica yet she looked a dozen years older, second they could have used the chance to reignite the Original feud between Tara and Erica, I understand that Erica was Sleeping with Tara's son?

Ok .How do you recast Geraldine Page??

Good Question, Geraldine was quite one of a Kind

  2. so i began thinking about AMC, a flood came into my head, Janet And Natalie were pretty wasted, first in 1993 then in 2000 Janet would go back full NutCase after 6 years trying to regenerate

Also the Mid 1990's saw the return of Tara and Nina, but i don't remember them having anything interesting to do, and Erica, in later years, she was background in many ways, i don't doubt they wasted opportunities with her

Not sure about Ceara, love Genie but i couldn't find anything of her character except one cheesy catfight between her and ERica

GH Sabrina: after Robin returned from the dead the character kind of just faded into oblivion until she got killed off

Y&R: Dina, being that the character already had animosity with Jill she could've been used to re-create the feud that was lost after Kay died. Instead they gave her an Alzheimer's plot that dragged on way too long.

Dynasty: Dominique should've caused way more trouble than she did.

i don't know this sabrina but i totally agree on Dina and Dominique, Dina was a Force in the 1980's when Kay died she sure could have made a big rival for JIll, even if Gloria seemed a more plausible victim, Dominique sure could have caused trouble, that mystery of the lady on the limo in 1989 some say it was her, would be interesting turning her and Blake into Mortal Enemies, since blake was a Jackass before Krystle sure they could come up with something to create a grudge

I feel guilty that my nomination of the character of Dorothy as an example of an aborted & wasted opportunity for OLTL has turned into an Elizabeth Rohm career retrospective.  Sorry @Joseph for creating a tangent to your intriguing topic of discussion.

It's Ok, since that's my boat let me change Directions

    OLTL - Melinda Cramer

    Y&R - Genevieve

Both had potential but what they did anyway? Also before Genie Left Y&R there was suggestions that a new Character related to Her would appear I believe Her sister I have to find the clip in which that's hinted

    I think this is it

  4. tracy was a big loss but who's decision was it the actress' or the show's? i know that after that she went to OLTL but her character doesn't seem to have worked out

By the way i saw a clip of Sharon Gabet as Brittany on the show and was amazed why did she leave?

Last One (i promise LOL) What about Sally Frame? how it happened for them to kill her off, or even the Previous one leaving?

I started to distribute blame among P&G, Kobe, and Long when I read an interview with the writer in which she spoke about working very hard to fix TGL, by "getting rid of all the dead wood" in the cast in the first few years of her original reign. Later, it was proposed that the show re-expand the Bauer family due to continued and voracious complaints from the audience, but (again, as reported in the press)  Long vetoed that idea and instead went ahead with creating more newbies of her own creation.

I have NO DOUBT that P&G and Kobe encouraged the cast slaughter (or at the very least allowed it to happen), but I believe Long was a contributing factor.

but also i guess after Bert/Charita Passed Away the bauers losing space was somewhat natural, at least in my opinion She WAs The Bauer GUiding Light

I still don't get how Ryan and Erica got together or how long it lasted. I thought it was a potentially viable idea, but not with Chuck Pratt who was largely terrible for the show. (Of course I also could've potentially gotten down with Bianca fùcking Ryan to get revenge on Reese and Zach, which it was rumored that Pratt had floated and may have helped drive Eden off the show, so my taste is subjective!)

oh great, imagine that ruin a popular character just to get rid of the actress lol how many times it must have happened anyway? i'm glad they didn't do it in the end her recast was good too

Are you referring to Brooke English?

I  only can remember that Brooke married Tom Cudahy and Adam Chandler.

no i was referring to Brooke Logan of B&B she married several times and i tend to think that she surpassed Erica in this aspect

OK so i'm into the Emmys Now, I hope fans of Erica could be so kind as to Help Me find Susan Lucci's Emmy Reels Please? i've alrealdy found 1995, 1996, 1998 and 1999, so 1987 till 1993 and 1997 plus 2001 and 2002 are still missing

you just enjoy to be mean don't you? you're always being picky to all i post here, really?? wonderful marvelous icredible I GIVE UP

  9. Oh would be so nice to see how Cecile lived in Tanquir LOL, they could have created a storyline in which some characters went there and we could actually see it, the best opportunity was when Cecile kidnapped Cass, wouldn't it be easier for her to take him there?

For some reason IMDB doesn't list Ms. Wolter's role as George on Guiding Light in 1993, but it came with a lot of fan fair and press at the time.

didn't know about this one i am curious

anyway i remember reading a comment on one of elena's episodes that said SW wanted to leave but he didn't answer when i asked about it, so no clue, but i liked the idea of Elena staying on the show longer it would be nice to have a more down to earth long term Vilain, they could easily just have her wounded and comitted to a sanatorium for a time then she would come back and wreak some havoc without having to try to kill everyone

    Who are Brooke and Amanda?

lol didn't expect a question like this but, Amanda Carrigton is a character from Dynasty the original series, she was the youngest child of Blake Carrigton and Alexis Morrell, the Protagonist and Antagonist of the series respectively

Brooke Logan, the usual female lead of The Bold and The Beautiful, she began as a virginal girl who falls in love with rich Playboy Ridge Forrester, and since then has a on and off love and hate relashionship with him, as well as relationships with his brother and Father, his other brother and her on daughters' boyfriends and husbands and her younger sister's husband as well, therefore she's loved by some and hated by many

  12. Catherine Oxenberg as Brooke Logan, Amanda and Brooke sound like the same character, they're both childish, very beautiful, obsessed with a certain guy (amanda with dex, Brooke with the Forresters) and i don't find neither one sympathetic (I began disliking Amanda not long after she entered the show, i began hating Brooke in the mid 2000's/early 2010'sof what i saw), now Catherine is not the best actress in the world but she could act being given the right material, Amanda never had very good storylines specially after Moldavia

The OP is saying that the role was so perfect that it seemed tailor-made. If you want to be picky let's not forget that Charita was a  recast too.

that's true thanks for reminding me and thanks for the little defense

OLTL's 1981 masquarade ball...it lasted one month of episodes!

didn't saw your comment before and never saw these episodes sounds amazingly OTT, I too would love to see the years that Carla and her mom (i think it's Sadie) were proeminent characters on the show

Stephanie Braxton was wonderful as Tara (on All My Children).   Although Karen Gorney is my favorite, Ms. Braxton may have been the best of the four actresses who played the role.

i envy you for seeing it, i never found anything from those years, i wish they were made avaliable somewhere

Jada is one of the very few people in soap history who played a role from childhood through adulthood without the role being rapid-aged. The only other person I can think of in that same position would be Kimberly McCullough of GH.

that's one thing i hated about many soaps specially B&B absurdly rapid aging, i don't mind this when they wait a reasonable time like 10 years but but some like B&B, Y&R and AW aged characters way too quickly, it's too OTT to me that's why i think i would have enjoyed TSS very much sometimes i think i was born 30 years too late

Danfling is referring to the first year of the show. Several actors were replaced as the show settled in.

The actors playing Linc, Ann. Paul and Kate were all replaced.

Makes sense 1970 was the year Haila was let go of Secret Storm, she had a 16 year tenure as villain Pauline who I understand was kinda High Society Matron so she sounded like a good Phoebe
