Cut: Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) Michael Easton (Hamilton Finn) Adam J. Harrington (John Cates) Katelyn MacMullen (Willow Tait) Cameron Mathison (Drew Cain) Giovanni Mazza (Gio Palmieri) Amanda Setton (Brook Lynn Quartermaine) Josh Swickard (Harrison Chase) Donnell Turner (Curtis Ashford) Optional cuts: Cynthia Watros (Nina Reeves) Demote to recurring: Tabyana Ali (Trina Ashford) Chad Duell (Michael Corinthos) Tanisha Harper (Jordan Ashford) Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth Webber) Evan Hofer (Dex Heller) Josh Kelly (Cody Bell) Brook Kerr (Portia Robinson) Sofia Mattsson (Sasha Gilmore) Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks) Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones) Optional demotion: Tajh Bellow (TJ Ashford) That's 20 players either removed (10) and / or demoted (10), as well as one optional per category, allowing room for [former] players to return, or for several veterans on recurring to be bumped up (ie: Jon Lindstrom, John J. York et al). I'd cut / diminish the Ashford family in favour of the Ward family, as well. Bring on a family with Quartermaine connections.

Neighbours: Discussion Thread
Hey, to each their own. I'd rather watch a story about Karl possibly pooping through the neighbourhood over Ashley Abbott have a late-in-life makeshift D.I.D. storyline, any of the Bold character attempt anything, Assault of Our Set or whatever is happening at Generally Not a Hospital Soap.

I'm hopeful Easton is out, too. He's part of my list, honestly, and would open up the door for another doctor to come into General Hospital. William deVry is 56, Nancy Lee Grahn is 68 and Kelly Monaco is newly 48. So it is plausible Alexis is Sam's mother... but deVry as her father? No. The former Julian, Jason Culp, is 63, so that's a bit more... realistic, but still a bit... off, even if we consider retcons et al. And, if I recall, Lois was part of the pregnancy scheme. Brook Lynn left Port Charles (when Briana Lane was exiting to allow Amanda Setton to return) to visit Lois, and then came back pregnant.

Oh, this I agree with. It was the "Writer's" way of giving Nancy Lee Grahn a love interest and a connecting tie to the canvas. But it never made sense to me, either. Considering the years we had no kids, I don't mind it as much. I'm all for it, honestly. I'd imagine by 2025 (if we're still airing), the current younger set will be upped to teen status.

I'm okay with recurring players getting family; canvas need to expand, but General Hospital is not one of them, and I had hopes Patrick Mulcahey could have scaled things back and re-built from a foundation-point. But, that won't be happening at this point, and it's unfortunate. Child actors (under 18) don't bother me, and I like seeing them on the canvas... I just need some more than others. The ones driving story are not necessarily ones that should be. At this point, I'm awaiting a SORAS'd Avery to show up sometime this summer. Ava & Grace Scarola have been M.I.A. since January of this year, and it is spelling out recast in-coming for a summer storyline.

I wouldn't even consider Nik as a loss, considering Adam Huss does pop-in for monetary visits. It seems like characters come in and rarely leave, which is not good when you have an influx of characters that serve virtually little purpose, or are not used for their purpose. I could name 20+ people you could cut, either by bumping to recurring or altogether (both realistic and unrealistic), and the canvas would not suffer a great deal by their exits. And this would also open the door for new blood, other returns, et al.

I wouldn't necessarily skip anything. While not as exciting as others, it's still not a snore-fest of watching in comparison to American soaps.- GH: May 2024 Discussion Thread

I have to say... since it has gone from ABC Signature Studios (2013–2019) to Disney Television Studios (2019–present), everything has been so watered down, and I think that has something to do with how drama-lite things have been in terms of story. I have maintained since the Shelly Altman & Jean Passanante days that Disney Television (then-believed to be Disney-ABC Television) has had their hands in the cookie jar, nixing anything potentially juicy to happen in terms of story. Even Altman confirmed this is an exit interview that TPTB nixed so many stories she wanted to tell, and I feel like since then they've really been kiboshing things, which is also why I feel as if Patrick Mulcahey may not have worked beyond five-months; he wasn't willing to do Disney Television's bidding. Another point is the writers [from my POV] don't do outside research or anything, and that's also due to time. And I get it, the pace of working American daytime is almost too fast in comparison to the '70s, '80s and even the '90s, when you had a bit of time to develop stories, and you also did not have social media "fans" spewing bullshït every two-seconds as something is immediately "watched." If you look at English soap operas, ie: Hollyoaks, they talk to professionals in the fields for which they're writing story from. During an far-right extremism storyline in 2019, actors, researchers and storyliners worked with advisors and charities when creating and developing the storyline to assist. As for your own personal experiences, I appreciate you sharing that with us. It is incredibly brave, and I am hoping you are in a better place today. 🫶🏻 Technically, Gregory was around since 2018 when James Read debuted in the role. He did not return until November 2020 when Gregory Harrison assumed the role, but he only appeared intermittently from November 2020 to June 2022, when he was upgraded to series regular. So it was less than two-years we really dealt with Gregory as a character on a more consistent basis. Again, an amazing actor in a less than amazing role, which the potential of said character did not really begin to flourish until it was too late to do anything about it.- Neighbours: Discussion Thread
