BTG: January 2026 Discussion Thread
original release date: Monday, January 5, 2026 | writers: Michael Montgomery, Jazmen Darnell Brown | director: Phideaux Xavier Thoughts: Not surprised Nicole has 'healthy' snacks in her office. She is in the medical profession, so health is at the top of her mindset. I like seeing Tomas trying to be the supportive boyfriend, despite the self-centred spoilt bitch trying to be as nasty as she usually is. Tomas, go find someone else, like Eva! Dana versus Shanice will never not get old... at least for right now. I appreciate that Dani acknowledges she fell bad into old habits by going to Bill first and foremost. At least she is aware of herself. Naomi, how dare you deny bacon? I do not care what is going on... I will never, ever refuse bacon! I love how much Chelsea and Madison connect with each other. They definitely get each other. So beautiful! I love their love. Dana wants Marcel's considerable weapon? Oh, so she has got a word association kink. I see you. It is very, very sweet that Andre is there to just hold Dani as she sleeps. Notes: It is a Montgomery and Brown day! And they work exceptionally well together! Finally Brown has a breakdown writer (Montgomery) worthy of his talents. Replacing Ben Gavin (Derek) with Jon Lindstrom (Joey) in the opening, especially with a new 'background', was the right upgrade. I just wonder if he is under contract or not... as of Friday, Lindstrom is still a principal guest. Guess we will find out this week.

Y&R: December 2025 Episode Rankings and Overall Stats
Amazing job compiling this list! Love seeing Peter topping December, and then Joshua Morrow being so high up on the year-end listing, too.

For me, Bold always had the ability to cast very green actors (i.e., Reign Edwards) and turn them into quite well-done actors. But... that feels lost in recent years. L.A.-based soaps have always been more well-known for hiring the 'model turned actor' type, whereas the east coast soaps hired theatrically trained actors.- Y&R: January 2026 Discussion Thread
You are more than welcome. Production and all that is included under its umbrella has always been a point of interest/passion of mine. The transition from NTSC to HD for The Bold and the Beautiful, for me, was handled well. But I also feel like the lush allure of that soap ended long before the transition. In relocating from Television City to Sunset Las Palmas, I do feel like it has maintained its look well, especially after the first week or two of filming, where I am sure adjustments were made. But the cameras at the latter studio are some of the highest quality, which is to their benefit. Also to their benefit is that their sets are permanent, so lights don't need to be re-established when a set is put up for use. If/when The Young and the Restless does relocate from Television City, I do believe it'll be an improvement for them as well. September 15, 2025 (Television City): January 2, 2025 (Sunset Las Palmas):- Y&R: January 2026 Discussion Thread
I'm pretty sure it happened during the Jill Farren Phelps era when CBS tasked her with 'updating' the serial to look more 'modern', and part of that was removing that lusher look. Plus, budgetary reasons, of course. October 22, 2012 (JFP's first credited episode): January 15, 2015 (JFP's last credited episode as sole EP): August 5, 2015 (JFP/Pratt as EPs): And then it has continued on since then. CBS wanted a modern-looking soap, and instead, what they got was something that looked bland and horrible. At least when Edward J. Scott came back, some of that warmth was restored, which exists today. But the cameras and post need to be reverted if we truly want that feeling returned fully. As of December 1, 2025: As a mixture of the 2012 colouring and the January 2015 camerawork.- BTG: January 2026 Discussion Thread
- BTG: January 2026 Discussion Thread
It's just how CBS/Paramount+ do. They only keep one season for their soaps. At one point, The Bold and the Beautiful kept two 'seasons' at once, but not for the past year or two. Which sucks because I was about one or two months from finishing the previous season of The Young and the Restless before the next began.- DAYS: January 2026 Spoilers
