  1. JFP wasn't fired, she resigned after repeated battles with P&G. NBC & P&G wanted her to stay, as she was the only producer able to boost AW numbers in the female demos - under her watch AW became the top P&G soap for women 18 - 34.
  2. But the show did move up in the ratings - AW became the top P&G soap in the desired 18-34 female demo during the Sharlene/John/Felicia triangle
  3. According to Margaret Colin (Deas wife) he was fine with that. By that point he had lost his ambition, and was perfectly fine being a house husband while Colin travelled the world purusing her career. Deas gave up his career to stay at home with the kids, and letting Colin pursue hers. He was fine staying at Guiding Light to provide security and health insurance for the kids.
  4. well I remember when Felicia walked in on Michael & Sharlene in bed together. The next day Michael pleaded with Felicia to keep her mouth shut. Which Felicia replied, "Since you like to lecture so much about what is right and wrong, why don't you go find yourself a mirror and give yourself a pep talk" episode below
  5. Except when JFP added Kale as the fourth wheel in the Sharlene/John/Felicia triangle - making it a foursome
  6. When they cast Nathan Fillion as Joey, he towered over Kirk Geiger (who was playing the OLDER brother). At the time Geiger, then Armstrong was let go, the EP at the time said they needed to cast Kevin Buchanan as a drop dead gorgeous leading man. Hence hiring a model, which was a mistake, because he couldn't act. Then they settled on Kevin Stapleton Fun fact - Kirk Geiger auditioned for the part of Dylan on 90210
  7. John Wesley Shipp says his parents have recorded every single episode of Guiding Light that he appeared in from 1980 to 1984 on VHS.
  8. Kate Mulgrew speaking at the dedication of "Malachy McCourt Lane" (he played the long-time bartender at Ryan's Pub)
  9. If you think about it, Josie was the last remaining Matthews on the show (despite her keeping the surname "Watts") When they re-introduced the character with Amy Carlson, TPTB should've just had her with a new surname "Matthews" and not explain the change. Then there would still be one remaining character with the surbame Matthews on the show until the bitter end
  10. Maura West being offered the role of Cassie fits the timeline of her return to ATWT as Carly. When she returned as Carly, she refused to say how that came about (who approached whom). All she said was "It was complex." But I could see Maura wanting to give ATWT the first right of refusal before committing to GL. The intriguing aspect of ATWT rehiring Maura is the absence of the entire creative team she last worked with. Plus Mike and Rosanna were off the canvas; those were the only two characters Carly interacted with. She was approaching a brand-new creative team, a new producer, and a new head writer about coming back. That's why the unexpected return of Maura as Carly was so shocking. As it was out of the blue, no one saw the turnaround coming. But it worked out!
  11. When Mary Page Keller contract expired and she wanted to leave, Thomas Ian Griffin had a year and a half left on his contract. The writers should have written them off together and give them a happy ending instead of recasting. Instead Catlin finds hapiness with Brittany. Sally must've been rolling over in her grave!
  12. What happened is that AW hired Gillian Spencer (Daisy AMC) to be head writer, and she had created a long-term story with "Le Soleil." I suspect they were able to lure Taylor Miller to the show, because of her past working relationship with Gillian (they played mother and daughter on AMC). Spencer also created a long-term story for Brittany, as she was suppose to emerge from her mute-like state into a vixen that would be even badder than Cecile. However after repeated battles with P&G, Spencer quit. And as Taylor Miller said "They (TPTB at AW) took a particular storyline (Le Soleil) and then cancelled it. Then they returned me to do nothing but bedroom scenes with Caitlin." Sharon Gabet (Brittany) storyline was also cancelled, and she felt instead of being a villian, her character was reduced to being a victim (wife abuse, rape, being put on trial for murder). Gabet, like Miller couldn't wait to leave. So in the end, it all came down to the writing.
  13. I don't need to do a google search, because I'm not the one making the claim. You are. If you are making a claim, then you need to back it up with sources. At least I sourced my claim with the daugther of an engineer who worked at ABC. You can't even do that.

  16. That is right, and that is one of the reasons Larkin Malloy left the show. They informed him the writers were going to do a Kyle/Josh/Reva triangle, where Reva didn't know who the father was of her baby. Malloy balked, as he had just done the same story (Reva/Kyle/Maeve triangle) and he wasn't keen on being the "third wheel" in a storyline, so he opted to leave.
  17. This episode marks the return of Pam Long as head writer in 1987. She breaks up Josh and Reva. But gone is the Reva who tried to commit suicide (under a different head writer.) This episode below has Pam Long bringing back the OLD Reva, as she gets herself made up, dons her classic red dress, and crashes a party at the Blue Orchid. Reva says upon her entrance, "Strike up the band! Reva Shayne's back, better than ever." This episode is where Pam Long pairs up Reva and Alan. And Reva SLAPS Josh. Enjoy!
  18. This is the ultimate showdown! Alexandra Spaulding vs. Reva Shayne. Two of the greatest characters created by Pam Long have a supreme face-off in this scene. This scene features two of the best actresses on daytime, Beverlee McKinsey and Kim Zimmer. This scene is one of the first episodes penned by Pam Long when she returned as head writer of the show. Enjoy!

  20. I saw this on an AMC Facebook group - and thought I'd share it here. In case there is any dispute about the library of episodes as this would also apply to One Life To Live episodes

  22. On the All My Children/One Life To Live crossover storyline, they had Kelly struggle with infertility. Desperate to save her marriage, she pretended to be pregnant, somehow wound up with Bebe's Baby, then the scheme was exposed. But then in a moment of weakness, Kelly sleeps with her step-son, and viloa she is pregnant! But not until after they have a building fall on both of them after they have sex, killing her step-son, the father of her child.
  23. If you watch all 20 episodes - that is $40 a month
  24. Eva La Rue joins Beyond TV to commemorate the launch of All My Children streaming on their platform, beginning with her fertility storyline in 1995.
