  1. Carmen Duncan was the better Iris!
  2. This is just fabulous news! I just know this twisty and soapy tale will firerocket the ratings!!
  3. This Nik story is the makings of being just fabulous. I am on the edges of my seat! I haven’t been this excited in many years! It is the kind of shocker that is a modern spin on a classic twist that GH is known for. I can’t wait to turn on this show every day!
  4. Frank should bring back the fab writing duo with Jean and Shelly. They understood the history andwrite fabulous umbrellas storylines. They could kickstart and upboot the show. I loved their writing era. It was one of the longest in gh history which shows u how mjch they did awesomeness for the show. We would be so lucky to have them spinning and weaving new tales for us. they have pioneer daytime dramas
  5. It is amazing how rude you are to old and new members of this board. Goddamn no wonder people told me to stay away from here.
  6. I wish that Alan could book Eileen Fulton for The Locher Room! I would love to hear her dish about Goutman, MADD, and Hogan. Has anyone heard an update about her recently other than retiring to North Carolina to live with her brother?
  7. I remember FMB or LB saying in 1999 that they would come up with long arcs for characters like Bob, Kim, and Lisa but could never get them approved after Kim’s heart story (even though that got them their highest ratings in years). How much of a lack of a long term plan resulted from HW ideas being rejected or cut short? HS had a long term story in place for Lily/Holden/Molly/Dusty and it was supposed to go for a year or so after Rose’s death, but then CBS pumped the brakes. Mid-2004 when HS really went off the rails in terms of planning. HS’s early stories also had clear trajectories with the ways he mapped out the disintegration of Hal and Barbara’s marriage and everything that spun off from it. I want to think that JP had a yearlong bible when she first began as solo HW in 2005. That yesr and into summer 2006 were quite good. By 2007, it was obvious that CG and/or the network had assumed near total control and budget issues could not be hidden.
  8. I am so sad that the show is returning. How depressing. I was hoping to see more 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001. The current show’s writing—plot and characterization—is so uninspired, insipid, and boring. Characters and couples have little rooting value and actors who we used to depend on to deliver, no matter the caliber of writing, are clearly bored (Stafford, MTS, EB, et al). I can’t watch a show that focuses on Chelsea, Abby (this incarnation) or Lily, and Adam and Billy have been “off” for years. Maybe the ratings will finally be so low that Griffith will be shown the door. I got into this show 30 years ago because though it moved slowly, every single story had an enormous payoff like no other show and it was rarely disappointing. Everything now happens with a whimper.
  9. I have enjoyed all of the classics up thru 2013. When Sony and CBS exerted all control everythjng turnt awful!
  10. Did the 1973 opening ever get an update? And did Jeanne Cooper or Jaime Lyn Bauer ever appear in it? I know it was altered around 1975, but Y&R was always slow to update their opening credits until the JFP era. Like the show would go 2+ years without adding prominent cast members. And up to 6 years for the opening at the end of MAB’s run. The red opening never added any new cast members in the early 2000s. And the 1990s opening was only updated every 2 or 3 years.
  11. Thanks for posting the 1998 episode. I wish more of 1998-99 was available. The show dramatically improved those years
  12. Maybe they will shuffle in and out of the stream. Lindsey McKeon was the worst Marah. I wish Alan would ask how Kim Zimmer felt when the show fired Laura Bell Bundy for Lindsey. Bundy’s Marah had an essence similar to what Pelphrey’s Jonathan would be later. Totally missed opportunity for the show not to have had Bundy, Branson, and Pelphrey on screen together with Zimmer at the same time.
  13. One of the YouTube channels (R, I think) that just got deleted this week had a few Cameron and Sharon scenes in near HD quality. Screw Sony/CBS.
  14. I loved this story. Early Gloria from 2004 to early 2007 was complex until she became a laughingstock. Joan Van Ark built a complicated, selfish, damaged woman as Gloria’s foundation, but Judith Chapman made her campier. The campiness made sense at the time because Gloria was entering a new, wealthy world and she wanted to emulate characters like Kay and Nikki. At the time I remember JC saying that was why she tweaked her hairstyles slightly every couple of months.
  15. Loving Christian’s silver daddy look. Clean him up a little once he appears on the show again. I wish they had chosen more Gloria-centric material for this week. I want to see JC back on the show when it returns.
  16. Loved seeing Beth after all of these years. And Fiona is simply fabulously divine. The 90s stories about the stories were great. I wish Jean Carol had been invited.
  17. Maybe a Sharon week? That ep is right after she pushed Skye into the volcano
  18. Correct. Everything you said. I usedto clean her house. My brother did her yard. Nicest, sweetest lady I have ever met.
  19. Well, I wish Tom well, whatever the case may be. I have always appreciated his insights into the recent (2000-present) soap writing process via twitter or blog posts.
  20. Found an update on Kathryn Hays. This article appeared in her hometown newspaper around 2 weeks ago: https://www.bcrnews.com/2020/01/23/retired-actress-pays-visit-to-nursing-home/a5nbe3j/ I also read on the Eileen Fulton Fan Club page on Facebook that Eileen Fulton recently moved back to North Carolina. I guess she’s really retired from the NYC acting/performing scene!
  21. Thanks! Yes, I must be confused because they did combine the sets around early 2006, I think. I believe they got rid of the dining room portion at that point too. Speaking of Holly’s home, parts of it became the kitchen in the updated Jessup farm house that Cassie and, later, Olivia lived in.
  22. Someone under the name AlexDevane has been posting full episodes of the show from the early 2000s, pre-2005 massive budget cut. The stories sucked other than a few spots here and there like 2002-early 2003 and mid-to-late 2004. But I am amazed at how good the show looked and how many sets the show used! Question: in Josh and Reva’s house they got from Vanessa, were there two different living rooms/dens? As I have been rewatching, the rooms look nearly identical, but one has stairs and you can see the dining room. When I was watching at the time, I thought the rooms were one in the same. After rewatching though, I am realizing that they may not have been the same room at all! At any rate, that house was so much better than Lincoln Logs Cross Creek used in the year just before the production change.
  23. I’ve been thinking about Marj Dusay’s death and how I wish we had recent updates from our ATWT people like Eileen Fulton, Don Hastings, Marie Masters, and Liz Hubbard. I know that we have had a Kathy Hays update in the last year when she was honored by her Illinois hometown, to which she recently moved back, and there were several pictures from the event. I just wish we could hear from the others, especially divine Ms. Eileen!
  24. OMG yes. I am flashing back to her first couple of days back as Alex immediately post Joan Collins. It was such a weird over the top performance even for Marj! She started to tone it down a bit after a few days and she was good for a few months before Ellen Weston took Alex’s story into clown town.
  25. Did Bruce Barry leave on his own or was he a budget cut victim? I seem to recall a long time director and/or producer getting the ax during first massive budget cut that CBS/PGP imposed on Wheeler’s reign.
