killing boring Maureen Bauer (and she WAS boring) is controversial. She was killed because of a focus group who thought she was boring and JFP agreed.

Oh yeah. For years??...lol. Well I don't consider that bullying to be honest. Not towards me. And no one controls my keyboard but me. Assuming he/she is not a moderator
You’re right - you control your keyboard. Glad you’re not letting anyone control it for you even though some will try.

My records show Millette Alexander’s last episode as 12/24/82 and Geraldine Court’s last episode as 2/4/83. Mike Bauer was in the opening you referenced above. He didn’t leave until 1984.

I've been lurking through these boards for years...looking for updates on whoever. But mainly Ehlers. Never posted anything. Ehlers as always been a favorite of mine but she's not in the public eye. She's a ghost. But I've often wonder if she's oblivious to these boards and gossip sites. Is she ok with misinformation about her career and love/family life being spread consistently. I can't stand it. Since I'm a Twitter monkey as of late, i find it easy to post on these boards now. Not shy anymore. I'll keep going
No we don't know. That's another relentless piece of gossip people keep throwing around. But Susan Lucci is a Queen that never had to talk or lift a finger. Always smiling while getting her way. Queen of Daytime.
That one always tries to bully people, Kimmy. He’s been trying to control the board for years. SMH.

I met Ehlers in person back in her early days of soap stardom. She was nice. But then something happened with her ego when she got Emmy nominations and never won.
Her comments about a War Veteran who acted opposite her on AMC turned me off to her for good. Until she apologizes for those comments, I’m glad that I make more than her.0 -

None of her successors were any better. Laibson and McTavish tanked the show so bad they had to bring in Paul Rauch. That’s also when cancellation talk started to happen for the first time.
Initially, Rauch and the interim writers, Victor Miller and Michael Conforti, did add some momentum back to the show but it unraveled pretty quickly.
None of JFP’s successors were any better. Very true. Laibson and Brent/Marion; Rauch and Clone Reva; Conboy and Maryanne Carruthers; Wheeler and Peapack. I’d take JFP anyday. So she killed Maureen. Maureen was a boring character and that decision was based on a focus group who said the same thing. The viewers thought Maureen was a bore. I know that I did.

You could still make a great deal of money writing a soap into the mid-2000s. Even the cheapskates at P&G forked over more than a million dollars annually to Hogan Sheffer by 2002.
You can still make great money writing soaps. The minimum you can make is determined by the WGA union contracts. They haven’t lowered their minimum rates. Writing a soap is very lucrative.

Ehlers is making 80 thousand a year now. How the mighty have fallen.

Even when MILLIONS of people are quarantined, they are not watching soaps!

It’ll be great to see the classic episodes of Y&R. Won’t miss the current crap, which is so inferior to the classic stuff we are about to see. Goodbye and good riddance #Skyle (worst pairing ever!) Adam being a killer, Abby, etc etc etc.

Lauren-Marie Taylor is lovely. Great to see her again.

Regarding the ratings: anyone who uses household ratings is WAY behind the times. Household ratings mean nothing and they haven’t meant anything for years!!! Get with it, folks. This is 2020. Household ratings went out back in the 80’s.
That said, kudos to CBS for showing classic Y&R. They are not afraid to show how much better the show was back in the 90’s and even the 80’s. Thanks CBS.0 -

It's some pages back, so we may as well bring it up again. Here is the video.
Thanks. Sorry for the repeat. It’s brought up discussion though. I think SFT was doing great in the ratings at this time. Liza & Travis were ‘it’ and they were capitalizing on Rod Arrants having the Luke Spencer hair. lol

As long as Skyle is gone, I’m happy. Good riddance. Won’t miss them. The repeats are great!

Good for Eric!! I agree with him.

Ah, maybe. Or maybe they were just desperate for a job. Any job. It’s not like any of them are setting the acting world on fire.

Who didn’t Chappel have problems with? rme

Can’t remember if this has been discussed on here before but if you go to anitakeal.com there is about an hour of SFT clips from 1980 featuring Anita Keal. She played Mignon, Travis Sentell’s mother. On her page, there is a link that says Search For Tomorrow. What a wierd storyline with Tante Helene.

Met Mary a few times. Whoever said above that maybe she was not liked because no one really said anything about her is correct. The less said, the better.

Great! We can forget about #Skyle. Best forgotten. I am so happy to be revisiting classic Y&R. Whoever decides these episodes that will air really gets it.

Larry Gates and Bill Roerick. They kind of said it all yesterday. They were VERY different. Bill Roerick was a sweetheart. Larry, not so much. lol Larry was a crotchety old thing.

I love what Soapfan770 said above and I completely agree. Y&R is at an all time low, creatively. Bring on the repeats! They are SO much better than anything produced today. Just rerun old Y&R episodes for the next 47 years.

I never missed Maureen. She really WAS boring, thus the focus group that lead to her killing.
