Ironically, GL’s Emmy wins In 1982 were right when Marland quit. I noticed that he didn’t thank Allen Potter by name - he thanked the producers.

You’re complaining about these episodes? Huh? I think they’re incredible.
BTW, I just watched a couple episodes from 1973 — and trust me, no one wants to see Y&R from the beginning. It was not the show it came to be.
So you surveyed Every single viewer? rme

It's really gross that insulting Freddie Smith's looks and his up and down weight (I'm sure they're all physical perfection) is accepted here because a couple of weirdos are obsessed with Chandler Massey. The kid would run in the opposite direction if they even breathed near him.
SO true! Freddie is gorgeous and sweet. Those obsessed with smirky are beyond odd. It’s weird that people old enough to be smirky’s grandfather are obsessed with him.

These random episodes are getting old already. Yawn!! 1998 to 2003 to 2012? WTF! Just show Y&R from the beginning.

It's documented from Nancy herself in the 2009 interview Toups, Dan, and I conducted with her.
https://www.soapoperanetwork.com/2009/04/an-interview-with-nancy-curlee
Toups: How did you come up with three years worth of storylines without feeling burnt out?
Curlee: By the end of my time there, frankly, I was burned out. More to do with endless meetings defending our work and pitching and justifying, than with the writing itself. But it is hard, under any circumstances, to maintain that kind of quality. I probably should have relinquished more control of it, in hindsight. I felt very protective of the material and the actors, and had a hard time saying okay, that’s good enough if I didn’t think it really was.
Where's your proof contradicting Nancy's own words, @VanessaReardon? She's definitely honest here that at the end of her tenure, it wasn't an environment that promoted creativity. She could have other reasons as well for leaving (like I believe she had gotten pregnant again by this time), but she definitely wasn't happy with the working environment when she left.
Thank you for posting that. I feel vindicated in that Nancy Curlee didn’t say that she left GL because of JFP. I recall reading posts on here stating that Nancy left because of JFP. Nancy never said that. Thanks for the confirmation.

Me too! And I think Nancy Curlee was equally young at the time she was head writing the show.
Has anyone ever thought about contacting Long or Curlee on social media for an interview?
No. No one ever thought about that.
They are not hard to find on social media. The funniest thing would be to get an actual interview with Nancy Curlee where she would probably dispute everything said on here. She left because she was unhappy. #Yeahright

He's really doing a great job. I'm so glad he's been doing this. He knows what he's talking about and he respects the genre.
He respects the clicks. He’s a lousy interviewer.

You're right. I too wish he would ask more serious questions, but he wants these to be reunions, so things need to be kept rather light. It can be frustrating, but I completely understand why he gives them soft-ball questions. The responses to some serious queries might embarrass others in the reunion, or make them feel uncomfortable. The last thing Alan wants in a reunion is for someone to regret their decision to participate. If we want more serious questions that might get into criticizing others, trouble in the studio, or conflicts with co-workers, he probably needs to do that in one-on-one interviews. And I don't know if he has any interest in doing that.
So before we criticize his interviewing skill too much, we need to think about his fundamental reason for holding them. And I don't think it's to dig up dirt.
He’d get more clicks though if he had more balls.

They’re already running out of interesting themes to show. Yawn.

It will only go down from here for CBS. GH and Days beat the cbs repeats in the demos.

Alan is a horrible interviewer.
He’s terrible! He’s got clicks and dollar signs in his mind. He hasn’t focused on his content yet. Just get names and clicks and dollars.

Is anyone really surprised by this? These shows have such small profits that the owners are not going to pay folks to sit around doing nothing. I’m sure everyone under contract, writers, directors, actors have all been furloughed and/or their contracts terminated so that they don’t have to be paid.

I am not making fun of her loving her daughter, her Emmy speeches just blend together and follow the same pattern.
That’s why it sticks out whenever she was cut off or told to wrap up.
Well, when you win so many Emmys, its hard to be unique everytime.
And just to let X or Y know, you have me confused with someone else. God, you are wrong. Very very wrong.

My problem with JFP is that she has the same style and focus on every show she's been on. Her shows are always extremely sexist and the women always become oversexed idiots when she takes over (still can't get over how OLTL's Nora became an idiot overnight). I think GL was one of the few times that JFP could have done a fantastic job because summer to winter 1992 was first rate, but that's her biggest problem. She can never sustain momentum for very long. She is terrible at long-term storytelling. Maureen turning to Roger because of Ed's affair would have been so much more interesting than her death. JFP never learned. Didn't she have to rewrite YR's Avery lying about rape because of the outcry? Boggles the mind.
Jill was not a writer. She was a producer.

Yikes. Locher is desperate for clicks. He makes money everytime someone clicks on his page. Zenk Pinter again?? Hard pass!

That’s all you got? Really?? Everytime Erika Slezak won an Emmy (only 6 for Erika to Jill’s 11), Erika mentioned her husband and children (Brian, Michael, Amanda) I can still hear Erika always thanking them. Why wouldn’t Jill mention her daughter? She’s obviously very close to her.

I’m not the one who posted that Kevin Bacon was let out of his contract to film Animal House. lol I just pointed out that Animal House was released years before. Oops!

Locher sure is desperate for clicks onto his youtube channel. Nellie Branco must be jealous that he didn’t think of the idea.

Pretty production values are nice , but ageism, poor casting (of the same actors repeatedly) and stunts aren't why I have always loved soaps. RESPECT for the fans and the characters are the two major things JFP has
been failing at for decades. Thank gawd no one has hired her, especially after her lousy runs on Y&R and GH. She can enjoy being put out to pasture the same way she did to so many beloved actors.
Put out to pasture? lol I picture Jill spending her days counting her Emmys (11 of them) - no other EP has 11 emmys, counting her money, and being glad that she isn’t in the crapfest known as daytime. I’m certain that she doesn’t feel like she was put out to pasture. She sold her home a couple years ago for something like $2.4 million so she’s not hurting for money. She probably lives in an even bigger home now. I’m sure that JFP is just fine and sends her love.

How could Kevin be let out of his contract in 1981 to do Animal House when Animal House was released in 1978?

My first time visiting a soap set was at GL in 1981 and I met Charita. Lovely woman. They all adored her on that set. She had such an outgoing personality. What a great treat to see the 1982 Emmys where she got to present the Best Show Emmy.
