  1. I thought Casey and Frannie would've made a nice pair. I know the feelings there were one-sided before Lyla came into the picture. Casey sure had more of a personality compared to Seth.

I'm happy we got Casey and Lyla though. Their NYC trip is one of those iconic episodes I look back on with fondness.

  2. That was wonderful. They are my golden generation of this show. I could listen to the three of them forever, trading stories. I wonder how the character of Tom would've evolved if Gregg Marx had stayed in the role. He would've been a fabulous DA.

The miscarriage storyline is still vidid in my mind. The way it was told... and to see Margo vulnerable that way.

    Great stories about Liz Hubbard.

What a great afternoon. With all the crap happening in the world, this really put a needed smile on my face.

    Holden and Lily

I loved Holden's return in '97 and the reunion with Lily. Am I correct in saying that when he and Lucinda were locked away together by Diego, this is the first time Lucinda actually accepted Holden as the right man for Lily? That is kind of a big deal.

    You are correct.

In true soap foreshadowing fashion, a week or two before Holden returned to Oakdale, Lucinda exclaimed "Damn that Holden Snyder. Damn him." I don't remember the context of the conversation.

Their scenes locked together in the wine cellar were pretty poignant given their tumultuous history. Lucinda laid it all out, why she didn't think Holden was good enough for Lily, her envy of why Lily always wanted to be at the farm, how she was afraid of losing Lily to him. Lucinda admitted she was wrong and apologized for trying to keep them apart for so long. Their they sat, swigging wine together, hashing out the past.

Rewatching those scenes, it seemed like it took them forever to get out of that cellar. I can't remember what it felt like in real time, especially between the few evil visits by Diego or the Kasnoffs bricking up the wall.

  4. Emily's pregnancy coincided with Margo's involvement with Eddie and his dad (?). That was definitely a bunch of crap thrown at a wall to see if it would stick.

Things improved a bit with Margo's liver illness, but it seemed to be more a hurrah moment for Katie. At least it gave them some sisterly moments.

Actually Marland would have Emma come in and wonder at all the "frocks" for sale and say all she needs are her overalls and her "Sunday Church Frock" and Lisa would be in awe of her down home honesty and values. Even though she does not know her, she would say "Come back dear, when it's Lily's Birthday Celebration Sale..now we are closed on the actual high holiday but the week before..."

    Brilliant! 😂

Certainly not unpopular here. But I would say EB and MTS were both better and more consistent in the ‘80s and early ‘90s, like Y&R itself. Never rated JM highly, even when he had good direction, although he’s had enough strong moments to make me think he’s capable of more if he actually cared.

But even Heather Tom has gotten lazy and predictable over at B&B, so who knows how she’d be if she stayed and had to deal with this level of production. She’s certainly not thriving under Bradley’s pen.

I agree. I adored EB during the whole Kansas arc. It took him out of his element, and it made him reach to different depths as an actor. JM, well, he's awesome with kids. There's that. He was pretty good when Nick lost his memory.

I don't watch B&B, so I'm sorry to hear that.

For AH, I just don't think she's Victoria. I realize she's been in the role longer than HT now, but this isn't how the character should've evolved. For what it's worth, I did like her on Loving.

Unpopular opinion but Heather Tom is the only truly great actor in the Newman family. EB is lazy and shouty, MTS is wonderful but she's a little too "on" for me, all breathy and whispery. And of course Amelia Heinle is one of the worst actors on daytime.

Not unpopular in my books. I'd put that on a sandwich board if I could. It would be easy to buy Heather Tom's Victoria as the CEO of Newman.

    Mark Collier>Paul Leyden

There were many handsome guys on ATWT, but I always thought no one held a candle to Mark. Must be the dimples.

I have no clue what he looks like now -- looking forward to seeing him. I lost track of him after he left the show.

Thank you. Hunt Block was great and was playing Craig AS WRITTEN.

Hunt's portrayal of a grieving Craig after Bryant's passing was wonderful, in particular the scenes at the hospital. I also bought him as an overprotective father to Lucy. The same for his love for Rosanna. It's a shame MBE's stints on the show were short and supporting in nature. I was thought she had Hunt had decent chemistry.

and who is the producer Liz and Martha trashed?

Sounded like Goutman. At least the reactions were consistent with Goutman.

There was much praise for Scott Bryce and deservedly. I may have misunderstood, but while Hunt Block was in the role, there were thoughts of pairing Lily and Craig? 😬

It would be lovely if Liz wrote a memoir. She has so much wisdom to share. Listening to her, it's like a professor teaching philosophy.

What a great chat. Their relationship should be lauded.

Alan mentioned another ATWT reunion soon.
