I wonder if they have a fear of being seen as a “black show,” which has been a common anxiety. They’ve always taken black folks for granted, that we’ve been trained through years of marginalization to empathize with white characters and not see ourselves, while the larger white audiences aren’t used to making the leap to empathize with non-whites as much. They are banking on black folks not putting up a fuss and taking what they’re given, while “making more space” for the white folks, throwing the diversity crowd a bone with the Rosaleses.

But now black audiences have more options than ever to see ourselves, and we’re not going to sit idly by and watch CBS/Sony kill us and push us to the margins, especially when we’ve been supporting this show and boosting its ratings for decades.

    WORD.

That scene between Neil/Olivia, so sad. TLW is such an amazing actress and continues to be a great person. If anyone needs to return, it's her. I know a lot of people didn't like it (for good reason), but I also miss seeing Neil's apartment. The sets were so much richer.

Lastly, that Sabryn Genet tweet surprised me. I've always said she is one character that should come back.

That CBS Daytime post feels a bit "too little too late" to me.  Y&R has turned me off for the way they have been treating their veterans over the past two years and the character for Neil Winters hasn't been written well for several years now.

Several pages back I wrote my suggestions on how I think Y&R should handle an exit storyline and I sincerely hope they write something befitting of KSJ/Neil's impact on the show and pop culture-- a story of the calibre that reminds Y&R's fans of why we fell in love with the show in the first place but I must admit, I'm highly dubious because I haven't trusted the last several regimes in how they handle long-running characters.

Agreed. Katherine's death was so poorly done, I have no faith that they will give Neil/KSJ the respect he deserves.

  3. OMFG this is truly heartbreaking. RIP Kristoff St. John and thank you for your wonderful portrayal of Neil Winters for many many years. You will be missed dearly. Much condolences to his family and friends.

I hope Jeanne was there to greet him and I hope he is at peace.

Amongst all the sadness, this made me smile a bit.

    Thank you.

  4. Some of my favourite scenes from Y&R. One thing Y&R used to mostly get right was the background music.

Joshua Lander's ex-wife shoots Niki (those scenes were chilling)

Tricia kills Ryan (Sabryn Genet was brilliant actually in the descent into madness up to that final scene when she was carried away to a mental institution. If we had a stronger actress playing Victoria, and a better writing team, I would have definitely have Tricia be released and try to re-establish herself)

Nikki vs. Diane at the Jabot building (Alex Donnelly was amazing. Maura West was horribly miscast and brought nothing new to the role)

Nina pulls a gun on Ryan, but then turns it on herself

Heather Tom's final scene on Y&R

Joshua Morrow final goodbye scenes to Cassie

    Hillary finds out she's dying

Personally, I think Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper are buying these nominations. It would be a shame if Gaga won an Oscar over a real actress.

I'm not generally a Gaga fan, but come on Jennifer Hudson won the Golden Globe, and then on to the Oscar for Dream Girls. Both performances were nothing amazing, outside of the great musical performances. Cate Blanchett also killed it that year too. Thankfully, she was awarded for Blue Jasmine.

Glad a real actress like Glenn Close won the Golden Globe. I hope this is the year Queen Glenn finally wins that elusive Oscar.

I'm happy for Glenn, but her movie was a snore unfortunately. She did turn in a fine performance, despite a really weak script. I wouldn't have awarded her for her work in "The Wife," and if she's up against Olivia Coleman this year, then Coleman should easily win. However, I can see Glenn winning on "due" factor, like Julianne Moore and that boring performance in "Still Alice."

It would be nice to see actors of colour, being "due" as well. But, I digress. People will always find a way to say no.

Better yet, he should be forced -- on tape -- to sit before his accusers and remain silent as they, one by one, rake his smug, self-satisfied ass over the proverbial coals.

    ...Or not.

I know some are upset that the movie attempts to paint a somewhat sympathetic picture of the kind of people who'd voted Trump in the last election.  But that might not be the backlash Vee was referring to.

Interesting...well, I did also enjoy American Honey with Shia & Sasha last year, but I didn't find those characters sympathetic. Florida Project was also well done

  7. I had to google Leslie Jordan, and I LOVE that guy. I remember he was on Reba too and was very funny.

It should be interesting to see how they revamp the show. The cast was fantastic, and I hope they keep it funny and fun
