Fatboy only really caught on when he became friends with Dot, whereas the others were really isolated and had no real involvement with anyone else.

Susan Hill said it was Zoe and Charlie's decisions to leave.

It was very unpopular, this period in particular is seen as one of the show's most ridiculed and detested eras. 2001 was a peak year for EastEnders though, so Corrie tried to compete with that and failed a lot of the time during the 1998-2002 years. Much like how everything EastEnders did from 2003-2006 was panned by the press, while Corrie was on the up and up.

But I do think that attitude is quite reflective of many in the UK, particularly in working-class communities. Though, I guess EastEnders was more positive in their view of it.

It was nice to see Lucy Speed again, even if I don't like that haircut on her. I always thought she was an underrated actress, and I generally liked Natalie. Martine does look the same. I still wish Patsy would be honest about not wanting to come back and would stop stringing the show along. Had this been a more vindictive producing regime, Bianca would be killed off in prison. I find it interesting that Patsy and Barbara Windsor didn't get along in the beginning. Barbara had similar problems with Jessie Wallace in the beginning. Eventually, it was Barbara who helped bring Patsy back to EastEnders.
