I'm not even sure what exit would be appropriate for Pat. She's been there for so long that I never stopped to imagine the show without her.

Horrible news.... Pam St. Clement has opted to not renew her contract and is leaving at the end of the year. I know she hasn't been driving any storylines since the early 00's, but loosing Pat is a big loss. I'm going to miss her. http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/x/Article/201107116026407

A new EastEnders Revealed special is airing next Thursday on the Greatest Exits: http://www.radiotimes.com/ListingsServlet?event=10&channelId=45&programmeId=196988409&jspLocation=/jsp/prog_details_fullpage.jsp I hope they don't dwell on only the flashy exits and completely ignore the more low-key exits.

Jessie Wallace was on The Graham Norton Show last night, along with Kim Catrall and Lee Mack. It looks like she had her 2002-early 2003 hairdo. <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/zESKipdNZLE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/sD3_RFNo5rs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ciO7N9a_aVk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/XrDbKFaPpHc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The Lady Gaga Thread
I go back to Adele, who is mentioned in this thread. She doesn't hype herself up, and currently, she's the most successful singer in the world. She lets her music do the speaking and it's word of mouth that has given her whatever hype she has. So, no, I don't necessarily think an artist has to hype their selves up if the music doesn't do enough speaking on its own. Granted, Stefani and Adele are two different artists, but the same rule should ideally apply. Let the music do the speaking. Truth be told, I dislike Gaga's personality and her gimmicks, but her music is pretty damn standard and nothing resembling the innovation she and her diehard fans claim it to be. Perhaps, it would be easier to take if she and her posse weren't constantly on a rampage about how great and different her music is, because it's not and it's done before, and in a lot of cases, it's been done way better. If she didn't have the gimmicks or general cheap repetitive tactics, I would still think so.

Cathy Murphy is leaving: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s2/eastenders/news/a326002/eastenders-departure-for-julie-perkins.html I don't think they ever knew what to do with her, but I thought Cathy was an underrated actress.

Patsy Palmer really is an ungrateful little snot isn't she? Apparently, she's demanding more money and to work a lot less, and the BBC aren't amused. http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/notw/nol_showbiz/nolcelebrity_tv/1327421/Patsy-Palmer-quitting-EastEnders.html If Jo Joyner can work fulltime after having twins, then Patsy should be no exception. But to want to work less and be paid more? What the hell is that? No actor is bigger than the show.

My PBS station is finally getting to the episode where Janine pushes Barry off the cliff and left him to die. Kat and Alfie's 2003 Christmas wedding was last week. We're on the first week of 2004 now, and of course, 2004 is generally considered to be one of the worst years in the show's history. I'm kind of excited about watching it from beginning to end for that reason alone.

They also interacted when Zoe ran away after the Kat/Zoe reveal as well. I think it was during Lynne's wedding at the Vic, where Sharon was comforting all of the Slater's. A lot of the characters that were heavily featured during the 2003-2006 era seemed to be isolated from one another and rarely interacted much.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Jessie and Letitia were both used heavily during the 2001-2005 era, but strangely, I can't recall many scenes between Kat and Sharon. I know Sharon interacted with the Slater's quite a bit when she returned as owner of the Vic in 2001, as they were the big new family on the show then, but that seemed to calm down a few months after her return. Anyway, 3:45 in is a scene where Kat visits Sharon on her wedding day to Dennis, and Chrissie later interrupts. <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/LQRiGJj-H9w" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Her voice reminds me a lot of Lacey's, but I would say that Mandy is more similar to Janine in her peak years than Stacey. Though, you could say Stacey also resembled some aspects of Janine as well, at least in her beginning years. Mandy had a one-night stand with Ricky before she left. Too bad Sid Owen is taking a break from the show, since Ricky is one of the remaining characters from that era who knew Mandy well enough. Mandy didn't meet Bianca and Carol, since they debuted permanently in January 1994, which is the same month Mandy left. And here's Nicola and Sid Owen together again on Bad Girls, at least in the recap scenes in the beginning and 3:06 in:

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
The Mitchell's were better when they were exclusively tied to Sharon. It's easy to forget that Phil and Grant were created for her and to give her story, not to consume huge amounts of the show, which they did by the late 90's. I think the early 90's had a best of both worlds feel for the show. It still had a lot of its 80's grit, but was also more progressive and evolved with the then times.
