  1. We all have our SNL issues, but this is funny: Also, this sketch nails CNN/TV media.
  2. Supposedly, according to the NYT piece I posted earlier, Trump may be freezing him out over that scandal.
  3. I loved Linda Soto. I never realized it was the same actress.
  4. Both Alan Needleman and Howie Zeidman are two of a number of crewmembers who took part in Jeff Giles' incredible OLTL history Llanview in the Afternoon, which I cannot recommend enough. I remember Needleman critiquing the use of Michael Storm and saying "[Nathaniel] Marston almost killed me." Buy it today on Amazon. It is indispensable.
  5. He would absolutely resign. He's already won and he doesn't want the job but he's stuck. Am I expecting it? Not yet.
  6. A handful of pundits getting their airtime to speak their peace in a roundtable of 'viewpoints' is not the same thing as sustained, critical coverage by major outlets, anchors and producers, or journalists and their editors, all of whom have a responsibility to call this out loudly, strongly and consistently from day one.
  7. The Times put Trump's fraud settlement under the fold (Hillary's nothing emails were above in giant font) and somehow are publishing a piece about how 'studies' show their coverage is more unfair to conservatives than liberals. I told my father to unsubscribe. I still link pieces for the occasional good coverage, but I don't pay and bypass their paywall using private browsing. Speaking of pieces, there's this.
  8. It's true - Hamilton is not the big issue but it's the only one the media wants to cover as they struggle to get their minds around what Trump has done and is doing this week, next week, next year, next administration. And they always, always default to a center-right, 'don't call it racism' viewpoint whenever possible. They're coming to terms with the fact that Trump and his base unmask the entire modern GOP as racist, corrupt and fascist. Because our media is center-right and has leaned that way since at least Reagan they have been fervent to paper over these problems for decades in order to avoid confronting that cognitive dissonance. Trump makes that impossible, so they're struggling to look anywhere else. It's willful denial in the name of 'courtesy.' We can't let them stay there and we have to force them to admit it, now more than even what we pushed for in the Bush years. As for the left, there have always been and will always be professional leftists - both in the far-left wing and the more conventional Democrats - who prioritize 'policy' and 'economic issues', re: concerns that can be pursued safely because many professional leftists are white, male and/or safe. They can afford their protest votes and their purity while dismissing black voters, gay voters, etc. and their fears as practicing 'identity politics'. That's why we have to stop allowing young liberals and progressives to take cues from people like Cenk Uygur or Glenn Greenwald, or nonsense like ANSWER. They can have Bernie and his message because I think part of his message is far more important than Bernie himself, but Bernie and his message do not address all the major problems we have and Bernie does not speak to everyone.
  9. Sure. So long as they can just shoot whoever, there's no epidemic of gun violence in this country. Just ask the children of Sandy Hook, or the congregation of Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal in Charleston.
  10. Posted it the other day but yes, it's a great read.
  11. David Remnick talks to Obama about recent events.
  12. Mitt may feel called to serve - as I know a number of sane, competent national security hands allegedly do despite their distaste, to prevent utter disaster and incompetence in a Trump-led government. If it happens he'd be far preferable to many other proposed names.
  13. Yes, god forbid we not shake things up for the average American. Look at the delights of the last week.
  14. The late deciders means Comey helped pull the decision. He and the NY FBI office (loyal to Giuliani) should be up on charges.
  15. This is hilarious/sad.
  16. Meanwhile: Have we posted this yet?
  17. It's Portland - shocking. On a slightly brighter note, this [!@#$%^&*] kills me.
  18. Some people are honestly wondering if he'll make to inauguration day. I'll admit I've begun to wonder.
  19. Oh, lord. Classic Malone.
  20. What?! I knew about the first part, I didn't know about her becoming delusional. WTF?
  21. Michael Tracey (late of Vice News, fired for doxxing Lena Dunham last week) has now fully embraced his role as Breitbart/Trump propagandist. This is why I can never fully trust or agree with the online left. Because the ideologues on both sides are never far apart.
  22. Holy shît.
  23. Yeah, helpful, thanks, Bernie.
