  1. The immortal Sherilyn Fenn is interviewed and discusses her career, including Boxing Helena, her children's book and both old and new Peaks. She reiterates her claim that Lynch may like to do more, and mentions his sage advice during filming: "Sherilyn Fenn, stop tweeting!"
  2. This is about Russia.
  3. I think Trump mostly just likes having "his own guys" in there. I also do wonder if someone wants him to have loyal security if or when someone decides it is time to remove him.
  4. From a friend: More big grain of salt tweets from that mystery account, but frankly even if it's fiction I doubt it's far from the truth:
  5. Joe Scarborough regularly uses Morning Joe (which Trump watches) to try and beam out ideas to make Trump normalize and moderate. He's been doing that since the campaign.
  6. I don't care for Scahill's false equivalencies or the folks at the Intercept at all, but this is a solid tweet:
  7. More on why Bannon is not a genius.
  8. I'd take Arnold right now.
  9. Back in the Yes, This Happened department, Trump at the National Prayer Breakfast:
  10. Meanwhile, in New York:
  11. Bannon is no genius either. He's a schemer and very dangerous, but he's got no interest in the intricacies of the rule of law and his authoritarian fantasies allow for storming about like a bull in a china shop, which is what he did with the immigration ban that has backfired on Trump tremendously and only incited more resistance. A clever operator, like Rove once was, would've ginned up public anger and then made it happen as the coup de grace. Bannon just thinks shock and awe will win the day in Washington. Ultimately he will be wrong. He's putting a huge target on himself.
  12. More from The Guardian about the disastrous Yemen raid. Obama previously vetoed it.
  13. You do realize that if this continues at this pace we will not have a country left.
  14. It's classic Trump: Renege on any deal/don't pay anyone, or give them half and walk away.
  15. Spot the leak (possibly all three, to be honest):
  16. You have David Brooks - king of the 'reasonable' Republicans, soothsayer of the Beltway - talking about removing him. That speaks to a certain audience and he wouldn't be saying that if he wasn't getting it from somewhere. Trump will not leave without demanding a payout from the country. To him this will be just another failed business venture where he walks away with the cash. Sigh:
  17. I did, it was good.
  18. You're wrong. Read literally any article about his long history. He is an uncurious, raging, wrathful idiot. He has a little bit of charisma and he talks a good game, but when put into actual business he has gone bankrupt, lied, cheated and bullied til he fails every single time. Meanwhile:
  19. He isn't. He isn't some master manipulator, he isn't fuckin' Sun Tzu. People need to stop assuming this is some grand plan. Trump is not smart. He is just that stupid, that impulsive and mercurial. Sometimes his showman's instinct works for him, but when it comes to actual negotiation, he is a one-trick nag. Trump has gotten by for decades bullying and cajoling people in business with bluster and brag and insisting on getting his own way, and then getting slapped down before coming back again. He is simply trying to handle nations the same way. From Reuters: More from the Times.
  20. Just shoot me in the face
