Nunes going down in flames is all the positivity I need.
Devin Nunes went rogue today with a wild claim that he can prove the IC was surveilling Team Trump last year. He did not inform the rest of his committee (on either side) or the White House beforehand. He seems to be panicking due to his own known connections to various targets of the FBI investigation (and, it must be said, Nunes has a business interest tied to Russia himself). It is not playing well with the press. Nunes has apparently leaked classified information to the press in order to try (and fail) to shield Trump.

Louise Mensch is nuts and should not be trusted IMO, but Greenwald is only going after her because of ego and his own deeply rooted anti-Western bias. Greenwald never grew out of his years fighting the Bush cabal. He was drummed out of leftist circles in those days for turning on everyone, then came back with Snowden. He was a libertarian to begin with, and he'll never stop fighting the same war where the evil American empire is always the central enemy and he is the daring rebel, so Russia (and any other power) becomes a friend. Even as Greenwald, a gay man, aligns himself with Putin's anti-gay empire.
I can't be bothered to shift focus to Bernie - there's not a lot of upside there right now - but watching the WhataboutAmerica Gang (Greenwald, Tracey, even Matt Taibbi, whose very dry piece on today's hearings opens by snidely suggesting America has propaganda networks just like RT and also, surveillance state!) fall all over themselves to explain away Russia is extremely entertaining. They're getting roasted on Twitter. Meanwhile, the WH is in civil war. Again. Also, Weathervane Joe tilts anew:
No one ever taught Trump much of anything. He doesn't have a fraction of the intellect of those guys. He's absolutely scared and angry, and when that happens he rages like he did today on Twitter during the hearings. I think he's been scared and angry most of his life. Watch, he'll go off tonight at his Kentucky rally. The alt-left, meanwhile, is losing its [!@#$%^&*] over the Russia reveal. Guys like Glenn Greenwald, Michael Tracey, etc. who have passionately defended Russia and RT against the slings and arrows of 'corrupt Democrats' are very upset today.
Comey is saying there is evidence of Russian collusion in the election re: Trump, and that they sought to tamper with the voter rolls. Will attempt to do so again in '18 and '20. Says Trump's claims about Obama have no basis. Trump is in an absolute twitter-frenzy about this, accusing Hillary and the DNC, again. This man is a 70 year old toddler.

Bex is not enough to make the teen story - which feels more hamfisted and out of place than any youth storyline I can remember over a number of years of admittedly-fitful viewing - any more watchable.

Oh, it's not a shell game. It's not a brilliant plan. It's just incompetence and internecine warfare. This chaos is real. If something gets done by the more experienced GOP hands amidst their own mess it will be by the skin of their teeth, not because we focused on the wrong things. Sustained public outcry against their plans for health care was essential here and it's happened.
