Apparently, what "trophy hunting" provides is only a meager amount towards these countries GDP compared to eco-tourism, which brings in a much larger amount of money--but hey, just so Trump can be petty and overturn another Obama-era regulation while giving his whiny brats more opportunity to reclaim their lost manhood, I guess it's worth the possibility of depleting the elephant population.

He never fails to piss me off every.fuckin.day.  I couldn't care less about whatever grudge he has with Obama, but this is disgusting.  There's no credible reason to overturn this rule other than the reasons you said.  Grrr

  2.

So it looks like Trump has tweeted about the Franken accusations.  LOL  The man has no shame or self-control.

I'm not excusing or defending AF, but another stark difference is the way in which he has responded to her claims.  He released that picture himself, and has come across as honestly regretful and apologetic of what he did.  Trump and Moore have attacked their accusers.

Also,  hasn't he been silent about the latest crazed shooter? I guess when the shooter is a crazed looking white guy who had no business getting access to guns...in Trump's eyes, it's not a problem.

President Obama did everything he could to keep gun violence in the news.  After every mass shooting, he'd have a press conference and tell it like it was.  I loved it.  Republicans and the NRA fumed, but at least there was something on the news about the number of mass shootings.  There were 477 last year, and 391 so far this year.  But we have only heard about the most egregious.

Trump won't say [!@#$%^&*] until he's called out on it.  They want to downplay the gun violence as much as possible so the NRA keeps sucking them off.  It's disgusting.

i don't know, what do you say about Bill Clinton?

Before I put you on ignore, this is a perfect example of why posters consider you a troll.

You were asked a point-blank, straightforward question on what you thought of the charges made against that Alabama slime but instead of answering that, you quote from a completely different post and then deflect to Clinton.

BTW, Bill Clinton and Monica were consenting adults.  Was it wrong?  Of course.  It wasn't illegal.

Moore preyed on underage girls.  They aren't consenting adults.  Can you wrap your hypocritical mind around that concept?

    Buh-bye troll

Yeah but you'll never hear the GOP denounce Trump for any of this. All of this is occurring b/c it trickles down from the top. We have an uncouth, sexual assailant in the White House and he's corrupting everyone.

Truer words have never been spoken.

then by that account, then Moore should get to be Senator if he's elected. We have seen more proof that Franken did something than Moore did

Moore is a pedophile.  Do you think all of these women are lying?  That he wasn't banned from a mall because he would stalk underage girls?

While I agree Franken needs to resign, I am gonna sound very unpopular and say he better not do it until after Trump does. It boggles my mind how McConnell wants to do an ethics investigation against Franken, but not against Trump, who has 15 or 16 women that have spoken out against him.

Furthermore, people are saying that this Leann women is a Trump supporter to add insult to injury. Again, I firmly believe Franken needs to be punished for his actions, but why vote and avidly support someone who has a past assaulting women too?!!!

I see your point and agree with where you're coming from.  Until and unless McConnell follows through with the accusations about Trump and Moore, he has no business investigating Franken.

To address a pointless accusation made by a certain someone, there is no double standard for Dems and Reps.  If ANYONE behaves this way, they need to go regardless of sex, race or political affiliation.  The only one displaying a double standard right now is a Republican (shocker) - McConnell.

In a speech in South Korea, Trump referred to Kim as a “cruel dictator” and said he ruled the country “like a cult.”

    Pot, meet kettle.

Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump have engaged in name-calling like a pair of snot-nosed schoolchildren; and now, North Koreans are calling for Trump's head.  There's GOT to be a morning after.

They are two sides of the same coin.  Wasn't Kelly supposed to reign Trump's ass in a little bit?!?!

Yikes stay safe. That's a long time without power. Hope u have all u need in the meantime.  I read about that nursing home tragedy and it made me wonder if that was a power outage issue, until I read there is a hospital those folks could have easily gone to right across the street. Tragic

It's horrible about that nursing home.  There's obviously some level of either incompetence (aligning resources after the storm) or negligence there.

We're contemplating going upstate to our new place that we've been renovating (slowly) because our RV is there, with a generator and (most) comforts of home.  At least for the next couple of days.  The only question mark there is if the roads are clear because its a pretty rural area.  We've already lost most everything in the fridge but have plenty of water and vino ;)

Thanks, Marce.  It was a pretty intense storm, worse than I thought it would be.  The wind was scary!  According to FPL, I won't have power until Sunday afternoon...

Let's be clear on something, the vast majority of immigrants both legal and undocumented, give a whole lot more than they get.

I don't know whether anyone here on this board personally knows undocumented people but I do and I'll give you an example of my point.

When my mother used to be a landlord and rented out apartments, she had a family who had a few members who were undocumented for a time.  Each member worked very hard, even the kids who went to school and held jobs and saved money and were eventually able to open their own business. They were never late on rent.  They weren't leasing property out from under anyone, the space had sat available for several months (probably at least a year). They became reasonably success (nowhere near rich) eventually were able to employ one or two employees who were not family and eventually were able to buy their own home. The children graduated, married have their own lives.

This is not to insult anyone but of all the tenants that my Mother had during her years as a landlord, the tenants she had the least amount of trouble with? Immigrants by far. The tenants that she had to evict? All U.S. citizens by birth. The final eviction was so much money lost that it convinced her to sell the property and just focus on getting a single family house.

My Mother, an immigrant herself, does have a tilted view of America because of this. I've tried to convince her not to paint Americans with a broad brush but when you are reminded with Confederate statues of this country's reliance on slave labor and exploitation to build its wealth, it becomes increasingly hard to convince someone who has been exploited that it is any other way.

Perception really does matter and the U.S. is cast in an extremely negative light now in many people's eyes.

*Also, in terms of who waits in line and who exploits immigration loopholes, the other day, I posted an article about Ukrainian migrants who are getting in claiming to be refugees, who by their own admission are not in danger but are here for economic reasons but because of an age old Soviet-era rule that allows Eastern European Christians to migrate to the U.S. as refugees.

The Ukrainian refugees' waiting period and vetting period is, on average, about a year or more shorter than Syrian and Iraqi refugees who can wait up to four years of vetting before they are allowed to migrate to the U.S.

I don't blame the Ukrainian refugees for wanting to come but even they are aware that they are exploiting a loophole in U.S. immigration policy.

Why isn't this a talking point in the news media?  I suspect, it's because they are not brown.

Very well said.  My hubby and I recently bought my childhood home in rural part of North FL and it needs extensive renovations.  Of all the contractors we have worked with, the immigrants are - by far - the hardest working of the bunch.  And they don't bitch and complain - some of them are actually singing while they bust their ass!  The worst contractors?  White guys.  They are notoriously late, complain quite a bit and seem to always take longer to get the job done.  Mind you, this is purely my experience on this particular project.

Anyone who recommends getting a massage in the same breath as saying you or I are "out of touch" loses all credibility.

    Good read.

The thing that always gets me is this attitude (mostly from conservatives) that low-wage jobs are just stepping stones to "actual careers."  You're supposed to strive to do better, they say. A tone, reflected by those who asked the two women in that article why they didn't just go back to school and earn the degrees that will net them better paying gigs.  (Which is ironic, since those on the right have adopted their anti-higher education stance.)

However, as Fran Marion says, those who don't understand why low-wage workers don't just look for better paying jobs are missing the point.  Out of those who work part-time and low-paying jobs, many would probably LOVE to do better, to have more financial stability for themselves and their loved ones.  However, the sad reality is that the majority simply don't have any options other than to keep working in fast food, retail, and other low-paying industries.

Even community colleges cost money to attend -- and that's on top of ever-increasing prices for food, rent, utilities, gas, etc.  As it is, these people are barely scraping by, and now you want them to take out even more of their dwindling income to attend college?

And trust me, having a degree is no guarantee that you will, indeed, land a better job in the end.  Take it from someone who has a masters' degree and who hasn't been employed even part-time since 2007.

I've seen this on my social media feeds many, many times.  And not surprisingly, this viewpoint is most loudly shared by "Christians".  Can you imagine that?!?!   I guess they forgot about that lil verse that says it's easier for a camel to pass through an eye of a needle than a rich person to get into heaven.  But whatevs.

I see the Navy is suspending operations because of the recent rash of accidents.  The Marines have had their fair share as well since Capt Marmalade assumed occupancy in the White House.  I'm a little surprised that there hasn't been more made of this unfortunate turn of events for our military.  They deserve so much better than Trump's utter incompetence.  There's only so many new hours in a day.

However, if a Democrat were in the Oval Office, you can bet that the right and Fox New would be crowing from every rooftop about these accidents.

We know that the Trump administration has 0 integrity, plagiarizes and steals ideas and takes credit for other people's work.

    Here's another example:

TRUMP STOLE HIS SOLAR BORDER WALL IDEA FROM A VETERAN WHO 'DOESN'T MIND SHARING' WITH POTUS

So, congressional investigators want to know whether the Trump campaign obtained information from hacked databases but will they actually investigate and how thorough will they be?

Investigators probe whether Trump associates got info from hacked voter databases

"It was Trump's idea, he just didn't know it".  Ugh.  Seriously?!?

That tweet was clearly meant to intimidate Comey.  PROOF of obstruction of justice, end of story.

And why even bother unless the "President" is nervous about something?  Actions speak louder than words.

I've been calling her out and wishing dhe would just go away fro over a decade now. she did nothing to help the party or Obama when he was in office. and her arrogance.....she's a member of the 1% and she's helping to keep the party in the crapper.

IA with all y'all on this.  The existing Dem leadership in Congress AND at the DNC need to go.  They're 0-4.  Granted, in very red districts but one of them should have fallen our way.  It needs to happen NOW to prepare for the midterms.  If a pro sports team was starting out like this, the GM would have some questions to answer!  We need leadership that will communicate our platform, plan very clearly and IMO never.stop.talking.about.healthcare.  If the Senate pushes through this bill, it's going to impact a whole buncha people that voted for Trump.  We need a leadership team that will craft the plan and keep on message.  Hammer that shyt home.  Every chance you get.  FRESH BLOOD.

I have a childhood friend who is Republican and voted for Trump.  She owns a winery that isn't profitable and therefore is on Obamacare for a very reasonable, affordable payment.  I asked her what she was going to do when this healthcare bill passes.  She doesn't know.  She's worried.  But she won't ever vote Democrat.  She also regularly partakes in lighting up a blunt.  Regularly, y'all.  I asked her about Sessions' plan to roll back some allowances for smoking, but she didn't have an answer.  She called him an [!@#$%^&*].  Prior to the election, she told me that refer wasn't a partisan issue but hopefully now she sees that it is.  Again, I don't think she'll ever vote Democrat.  It's infuriating.
