  1.

It's taken me quite a long time to come around to the fact and admit that I am atheist.

Why?  I was raised in a Congregational church since I was in preschool, then voluntarily went to a Southern Baptist church as a teenager in an attempt to be "saved from the gay demon".  I was naive, brought up in small town North Florida/South Georgia.  Anyway, I thought this article was interesting.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/acts-of-faith/wp/2016/02/02/meet-the-atheist-who-quizzes-presidential-candidates-about-their-faith/

I can't stand Marco, but at least he's willing to discuss atheism apparently without prejudice (shocker).  I wasn't surprised at all by Bernie's reported reaction and the man is winning me over a little more each day.

  2. That's fuckin scary.

My bible thumping brother put something on FB the other day that people "from both parties" are tired of Washington insiders, thus the reason for Trumps popularity.  I had to comment, there are no self respecting Dems supporting this bigot, thankyaverymuch

Its funny how the right is trying to drag the left into their train wreck

  3.

I'm thrilled for Canada!  Didn't he run on a very liberal agenda?  That's the part that surprised me just a lil bit.  But hell, they were probably tired of the right wing bullshit they put with before this election.

I hope it rubs off on us next year.

  4. The latest poll has that fool Trump pulling 30%!!  I'm amazed.  If there were a similar candidate running for the Dem nomination, they would be dead last.  There are stories of people chanting "white power" at his appearances!  I don't get it.

The thought of a true political outsider being the next president is interesting and even attractive.  But Trump is not the one.

  5. Good gawd. That is desperate.

I think the Republicans have a problem (to put it mildly) not only with The Donald, but his unbelievable poll numbers. In what world does someone say the things he's said and he his poll numbers rise? What does that say about their base? What kind of people would support someone like that?

It is great to watch the trainwreck that is the Republican primaries.

  6. The scariest part is I just don't trust Hillary to be able to beat someone like Walker.

Scott Walker is a charismatic son of a bitch. I don't agree with any of his horrible policies, but watching that man speak the other day on TV, I was impressed. He is someone to watch out for.

  7. It's about time. Good riddance.

Here's another one that needs to go away. If there were a comparable left-winger spouting the crap that comes out of Coulter's mouth, they would have been silenced already.

    http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheats/2015/06/23/coulter-calls-nikki-haley-an-immigrant.html

I never thought I'd see the day a deep-south Republican governor advocated the removal of this hate flag. :-)

  8. Was Marland writing GL during that time? I remember reading that Jane Elliot's dismissal lead to him leaving

He was writing the show then. If I remember correctly, he and Allan Potter (EP) had a falling out about the story, one of the problems being that it didn't improve the ratings as they were hoping.

  9. Why would someone ask you that question only to show his ass like that?! Oy these people.

I have a friend who has been with his partner for 20 years. I think he's almost afraid of when marriage equality becomes legal here because he knows ten seconds after it happens I'll be at their front door with a stack of wedding magazines and a calendar.

  10. Dude I used to work with asked me today "So, you married yet??". I told him no, but we'd send him an invitation. Then he proceeded to tell me that he wouldn't come because it's not part of his "beliefs" but wanted me to be happy. wacko.png

So I asked if he shopped at Publix. He said yes. I asked him, but they sell liquor and smokes there, isn't that against your beliefs? Or is being around people who smoke and drink OK, but not gay people?

    Silence.

    Sometimes I just GRRRRRR jeal0002.gif

  11. I thought Sherry Stringfield was superb in the role of Blake and I was sorry to see her leave but considering she landed on ER, the decision was a sound one. I wonder why we don't see her in anything these days?

Girl, she was on Under The Dome last year and it wasn't good. That show is a mess anyway and has lasted waaay longer than it should have.

  12. Its funny that in the mid 90s and thereafter that the show considered Reva the main draw when she wasn't even the main reason several people I knew in college and post college started watching the show.

The character that caught their attention was Blake. In fact, my one college roommate started watching with me in late 2001/early 2002 right when the toru grainger story was starting. Her favorite story was that...and I remember her being crushed during the summer that she had to go study abroad and when she returned in the fall..the story was wrapped up with no long lasting effects. So I explained it to her..about the final showdown.between Blake.and Tory and she thanked me and thought the ending sounded fascinating.

With that said, the Blake they all saw was Liz K's version. She took the comical undertones that Sherry S infused and ran with it...the writers took advantage of that and made Blake almost a caricature.. when Liz k was capable of playing Blake the way sherry S played her.

    E. Dennehy's Blake was almost tragic, sherrys Blake had the tragic element but was more sardonic...Liz's Blake was more comical but could be sarcastic/sardonic as well.

Thoughts on the three primary Blake's?

Blake was one of my favorite characters. I preferred SS in the role, as I think the writers and the actor both understood the character and wrote to SS's strengths. And she had great chemistry with MG and JvD.

LK's take on the character I grew to like. But the edge/grayness of the character faded away with her, again the writing contributed to that.

There were a lot of interesting female leads on this show. I think calling it the "Reva Show" had legs in the press, so they went with it.

  13. I don't know if there will be a candidate in the 2016 Presidential election for whom I will reluctantly vote but I already know some for whom I won't vote.

In an effort to help Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton is fully supporting Hillary's efforts to change his criminal justice policies.

    http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/06/politics/bill-clinton-crime-prisons-hillary-clinton/

Eh. How is this damning to Hilary's campaign? Those laws were enacted over 20 years ago and in hindsight, do not work.

And to the people who still insist that we are somehow living in a post racial society:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/22/us/politics/obamas-twitter-debut-potus-attracts-hate-filled-posts.html

but I guess someone will claim that this is "playing the race card" whatever the heck that's supposed to mean.

Sadly, it doesn't surprise me. They are probably some of the same people that called criticism of Bush during the Iraq "treasonous". History will judge them very harshly.

    Hopefully.

  14. One person tweeted that if Graham was the cure, they'd rather have the disease!

    LOL :-)

Media darling Marco fumbles yet again. And as always, the Beltway, which has been pining for him for nearly a decade now, tries to get him out of it.

Countdown to him blasting Chris Wallace as part of the great lamestream media conspiracy.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2015/05/18/this-is-the-most-painful-180-seconds-of-marco-rubios-presidential-campaign-so-far/

Rubio needs to sit his self-righteous ass down.

We have the largest military in the world. We're spending millions on the next gen F fighter jet. And he wants to spend MORE?? it sure as hell does not make the world safer. Did our military might stop the 9/11 attackers? Hell no. Is it going to stop another terrorist attack? Hell no. He's delusional.

And I had to lol when he said he wants to protect religious minorities. He meant CHRISTIAN religious minorities. He doesn't give a [!@#$%^&*] about the others.

  15. I read that he thought the question was phrased as:

Knowing what we knew then vice Knowing what we know now

Which makes no fuckin sense to me at all. No reporter would phrase a hypothetical question like that.

  16. I really like Nicole. TBH, when she started at the beginning of the year, the ® after her name and he fact she was part of GWBs administration was all I could see. I thought she was the token annoying right winger on the panel. I was wrong.

And I have a weak spot for Rosie, the actress, that's carrying over to her on this show.
