  1. "Marcus Welby" did, though. When will The Kooky Kraut finally realize she's making a fool of herself?
  2. Just found out that Terry Kiser (Dr. John Rice) is on TV tonight in a Christmas movie! On the UP cable network, he's in A Christmas Miracle at 9:00 PM Eastern, and it will also be shown Friday morning at 11:00 AM Eastern. http://www.welovesoaps.net/2014/11/guest-stars-update-terry-kiser-michael.html#more
  3. How wonderful to see Matt and Maggie renew their love together, with no Kooky Kraut in sight. Poor Nick- he is really pining for Althea. Just tell her how you feel, numbskull! What will it take for Mrs. Anderson to realize her real danger?
  4. I loved when Carolee touched where Steve had touched her face- yes, she is definitely carrying a torch for the bad boy! About actor Conrad Roberts (who played Ed Stark- he is still alive!)- he was born in Antigua and spent time in England before coming to the US, which explains his accent. It's ironic that the show has just cast its first major black character within days of a major tragedy about to loom offscreen. And then, two months later.... Well, I wonder if the show was pre-empted in those dark days.
  5. When I saw him on the floor I shouted "Oh my God- it's Nathan Bunker!"- who guessed that a few weeks ago any of us would have sympathy for the old codger? Did anyone get the Otis Redding reference in Ed's speech about squirrels and boats? He talked about 'watching the ships come in' or something similar, and I expected him to sing "Dock of the Bay"! I was so hoping to have Carolee walk in on Steve and Liz, but Dr. Powers did just enough damage. Why does Nick always manage to be such a jerk to new people at Hope Memorial: Karen, Steve, and now Ed Stark! I bet he was also rude when John Rice first came on the show. BTW, just how did the show's hairdresser wind all that hair on Liz Hubbard's head? She had pretty long hair back then!
  6. Just when you think you can feel sorry for Karen, once again The Kooky Kraut does something that reminds you why you hate her! The storyline with Mrs. Anderson proves a point first explored by Agnes Nixon: the average 1960s housewife knew little about her own health and only visited the doctor when her period stopped for either pregnancy or menopause. Mrs. Anderson was the type to do everything for her husband, not even thinking of her own welfare. When Agnes Nixon did the now-legendary uterine cancer storyline on GL with Bert Bauer in 1962, a lot of women heard about the Pap test for the first time, saving lives. With the Anderson story, Rita Lakin is also addressing the state of women's health issues from that era.
  7. Yes, he was. Dr. Ed Stark, played by Conrad Roberts, will the show's first African-American regular character. Obviously he'll take over for John Rice.
  8. Well, The Kooky Kraut made a fool of herself and has to eat Hamburg Humble Pie! But will Matt ell all to Maggie? BTW, anyone notice the new 'do on Maggie? Her own hair or a fall attached? I'm wondering about Althea, too- is that hers or a hairpiece attached?
  9. Yes, it was Bud Cort as the telegram delivery boy. By coincidence Sweet Charity played last night on Turner Classic Movies, and Bud had a bit role in it- in fact, his scene was filmed in NY in the spring of 1968, just around the time this episode aired! Bravo, Polly! John Rice was right to call out Liz on her stupidity- once again she's falling for a guy who's two-timing her with someone else! As for Steve, he will get his just desserts- let's just say it will be his worst nightmare! Maggie sure has lousy timing, doesn't she? Now The Kooky Kraut can use her recent tragedy to reel Matt in! I only wish Althea and/or Nick would confront Matt with their suspicions regarding Karen. Of course, Nick and Althea have to get together first.....
  10. Someone has been posting a lot of PP episodes on YouTube- watch and enjoy! (No, it isn't me!)
  11. Exactly- with producer Doris Quinlan and actresses Katherine Glass and Nancy Pinkerton!
  12. Considering she had several pregnancies during her early years as Nancy, I could never understand why the writers never let Nancy become pregnant! It made no sense in retrospect- Mike and Nancy giving Laurie Ann a sibling would have been a great storyline. Likewise with Vanessa and Bruce on Love of Life- they never had a biological child of their own.
  13. Well, you do have to separate the character from the actor!
  14. Losing the character of Pat was another nail in the show's coffin. The character was a favorite of both Irna Phillips and Harding Lemay, though each wrote for a different actress- Phillips for Susan Trustman, Lemay for Beverly Penberthy. She should have been brought back to the show, along with her children Michael and Marianne, as part of an effort to restore the prominence of the Matthews clan. But then, the writers in the late-to-mid 80s botched up the returns of both Alice and Russ, the latter merely a prop for what became 'The Adventures of Sharlene'.
  15. This year is the 50th anniversary of the premiere of the first (and as far as I am concerned, best) primetime soap on American TV, Peyton Place. Someday I'd love to see EW reunite the living cast members, especially my two faves, Ryan O'Neal and Mia Farrow, who as Rodney and Allison were simply magical together!
  16. Indeed it was, and don't be surprised if more develops between the two-maybe that's what Polly planned all along! "Little Boy Doctor" and her favorite niece winding up together. Kudos to Kathleen Murray for her forceful scene with Jim Pritchett- she ably pinch-hitted for Bethel Leslie in expressing Maggie's frustration and rage over The Kooky Kraut! BTW- has one noticed how there are at this point three future OLTL stars on the show at this point? Sally Gracie, Lynn Benish, and Kathleen Maguire (who replaced Doris Belack as Anna Wolek Craig before Phyllis Behar took over a year later).
  17. Happy 80th birthday to the great Ann Flood!
  18. Today I have seen two remarkable episodes that celebrate the circle of life- major things happened, and that's all I'm going to say........
  19. And sadly, like Miss Murray, Ann Williams was claimed by cancer much too soon.
  20. Looking back, there were several things that went wrong for AW from 1978-80: The 90-minute expansion Killing off John Randolph (while fans hoped for a reunion with Pat!) Harding Lemay leaving Breaking up Mac & Rachel over Blaine/Jamie and Janice (huge mistake!) Being opposite a reborn General Hospital and a steadily rising Guiding Light De-emphasing the Matthews clan Losing Iris to Texas A mass exodus of Frames Does anyone want to add to this list? I really think that this period was the start of the show's long decline.
  21. I just wanted Nick and Althea to give in to their feelings and fall into each others' arms, and to also discuss the fact they both have seen The Kooky Kraut in action after Matt! By the way, how about when Althea chided Maggie about her stubborness? Look in the mirror, Dr. Davis- aren't you stubborn about your lingering feelings for Nick? My God- I was so worried Polly was going to kick the bucket during Bonnie's visit. She could go any minute. I also noticed there was no announcement of Ms. Murray taking over for Bethel Leslie. Lydia Bruce becomes Maggie in the summer, so we should see Ms. Leslie back after a few weeks. It's amazing how primitive surgery was in 1968 compared to today- technology has made a lot of changes in 46 years!
  22. Looking forward to seeing her- there's practically nothing archived regarding the early years of OLTL. Maybe Bonnie will be the one to capture John's heart- the guy needs a break and a shoulder to cry on after Polly goes.
  23. Good idea- for those who don't want to know what will happen in the next decade! Post away!
  24. What do you mean by "DC"?
