  1. Been revisiting the early 1984 episodes involving the culmination of Steve/Betsy/Craig. The 2 and a half minutes starting at 44:00 in this episode is to this day one of the most emotionally gripping clips I’ve ever watched in daytime soaps. Scott Bryce and Anne Sward were just amazing here…

And also the 3 minutes of this one starting at 21:55… this is what soaps are all about…

YES TAYLOR YES, all of this:::

I will say that I’m still kinda digging how Taylor and Brooke are sitting there together like the two matriarchs that they are - I honestly hope that the writers do continue to maintain this friendship in some way shape or form.

  3. Thanks to @Huntress and @I Am A Swede for updating! And we have even more…

Firstly, the UK have internally chosen Mae Muller with “I Wrote A Song”…

Israel’s Noa Kirel also released her entry, “Unicorn”…

Cyprus’s Andrew Lambrou released his song, “Break A Broken Heart”…

We have Victor Vernicos’ entry for Greece, “What They Say”…

And last but not least, Portugal selected Mimicat last night as their Eurovision entry with her song, “Ai Coração”…

On the same track, there is a nice confrontation between Decker and Charlene where Decker informs Charlene he knows that Charlene was cheating on his dad and that was the real reason that his father took him and split.

Ok so I find this curious. I know that Colton was apparently Lucy’s cousin, and Decker was Colton’s (half?-)brother. Does that mean Charlene was the mother of Decker and/or Colton?

  5. So two more songs to add…

Firstly on Sunday night, Poland chose their song in their National Final… and they have selected Blanka with “Solo”…

Secondly, the Netherlands’ much anticipated entry co-written by Duncan Laurence has been released this evening, with Mia Nikolai and Dion Cooper showing off their duet, “Burning Daylight”…

  6. And after a somewhat chaotic national final tonight in San Marino (which included the likes of Alfie Alcuri from Australia Decides 2019, as well as Ronela who represented Albania in Turin last year), we finally have their entry for this year! Bring on Piqued Jacks with “Like An Animal”…

However, the Ava/Spencer scene where she was given all of the exposition to explain Ryan and Esme's relationship and how that motivated the plot to terrorize Ava was really well done.  Of course, it is slightly unrealistic that after going through her own trauma, and looking for Austin to hide her own crimes, that Ava would take the time to sensitively tie everything up for Spencer.  But, as a viewer I found it helpful to understand the plot.

This was such a good scene - and afterwards when it finally sunk in for Spencer just how far he had overreached with his father, I couldn’t but feel so bad for him.

Another thing just occurred to me - Ava’s hitting Nikolas on the head, and she and Austin moving the body - did that all happen on the same Port Charles evening as Ryan, Heather and Esme breaking out of Spring Ridge?

I haven't been able to watch full episodes in a few weeks. I've seen only recaps and clips.

I half-expected Ryan to grab Kevin in the tunnels to Spoon Island, and then switch clothes with him.  And then I expected Kevin to be shot and Ryan to take Kevin's place - with Kevin eventually recovering elsewhere later in captivity.  Because all of that would be standard soap trope.

But there's no way the real Kevin would say those things to Ava.  So Ava and Mac really did shoot Ryan.

I am startled to read recaps that Ryan actually died? Can this be true?  Will he awaken from the body bag later?

I'm tired of Ryan - I've been tired of him for a very very very long time.  I'll be glad if he's really gone.

Slight hitch with that theory… Ryan has a missing hand, so he couldn’t pull off a switch anymore without someone noticing that “Kevin” suddenly doesn’t have a right hand anymore…

  9. Damn these sweeps have been amazing!! Loving the twist of Ava having confessed to Ryan about killing Nikolas - I wonder how that’s gonna play out.

    Spoiler

Actually… why do I get this sneaking suspicion that Ryan is going to blackmail Ava into marrying him?

That last moment of Esme in labor coming in the door straight into Laura’s arms was such a perfect beat. Also, the cynic in me thinks we’re not done with the Hook yet - they’ve built up way too much just for it to have been Heather all along.

  10. They keep on coming! At relatively short notice, Australia’s song has dropped this evening, and it’s Voyager, who came runner-up in last year’s Australian national final to Sheldon Riley. They’ve been internally selected this year to go to Liverpool with their song, “Promise”…

@OzFrog I believe you mentioned that you are a big fan of the Orbecht/Nina/Britt/Maxie gang so was wondering if you were keeping up with their scenes this week surrounding the funeral.

Sadly no! My usual YouTube sources have sadly dried up on showing clips of them - I only tend to find anything in the Sprina or Vanna universes nowadays, and to be honest, those two are where most of the action is anyway.

We start our long selection process here tonight.... 28 songs spread out over 4 weeks, and most of them will, in all likelihood, not be very good.

I think we had one of our best entries for a long time last year with "Hold me closer" and Cornelia will be a hard act to follow.

Loreen, winner of the ESC for Sweden in 2012 ("Euphoria") enters again this year, but most of the other contestants are virtual unknowns, at least to me.

I didn’t watch Mello last night, in favour of Norway’s and Spain’s selections, but from the snippets I heard on SVT this week, I was honestly not that inspired. Let’s see what the next few weeks bring.

And yes, I agree about Cornelia - she was my Eurovision top last year, and a prime example of when Sweden takes a risk on something other than the formulaic brand of pop that they’ve become renowned for.

In the meantime, we got another THREE songs confirmed last night!

First cab off the rank - Slovenia 🇸🇮! The previously-confirmed group Joker Out released their song and video clip for Carpe Diem officially yesterday evening…

Next up, Norway 🇳🇴 held their final of Melodi Grand Prix, with Italian-born Alessandra Mele coming victorious in both the jury and televote with her song, “Queen Of Kings”…

And last but certainly not least, Spain 🇪🇸 had their Benidorm Fest final where Blanca Paloma, who also competed in last year’s Benidorm but lost to Chanel,  finally came out on top this year with her flamenco-inspired, “EaEa”…

Laura, Nikolas and Spencer's scenes on Friday's episode were so soapy and dramatic.  We need much more of that and less of everything else!

I just watched those scenes now, and I was completely riveted. A lot of us complain about the erratic writing on GH, but when it’s good, it’s GOOD.

I loved seeing Nik’s face turn to abject horror as Spencer was basically reciting his confession back to him, with Laura just standing there not knowing WTF was going on. It’s a shame that Nik doesn’t seem much longer for this canvas, because I can fully buy Adam Huss’s portrayal hook line and sinker, and they could go so many places with this. That final scene of him showing up at Windermere was just chilling.

And even with not that much to play, GF was an absolute star as always, particularly trying to console her son, and confused as to what had just gone down with Spencer. And speaking of Spencer, NAC just hit it out of the ball park yet again. He and Huss play off each other really well, and is another reason why I hope Nik stays on, somehow.

  14. The third song has now been chosen, along with the eighth artist! In a shocking nailbiter of a vote last night during Belgium’s Eurosong national final, Flemish singer Gustaph came almost from nowhere to beat former Eurovision contestant Tom Dice (part of the Starlings) by *one solitary point*.

Below is Gustaph’s song that he will be performing in Liverpool in May…
