  1. I don't think Jordan or Lucas ever needed to be brought back for Denise have a story. To me, it showed how unimaginative and regressive DTC and company are given that the last time he was on the show with Santer (and the beginning of Kirkwood's tenure), it was the Lucas storyline that was going on. Poor Diane Parish has to carry a number of really poor actors that are really not worth her time. I think they need to move Denise into a more community-based role, they've failed her tremendously with the characters they have surrounding her. For some reason, her family dynamics have never worked nor have they been allowed to work due to poor writing and bad actors/or actors not on her level.
  2. Julie Goodyear released a statement
  3. Netflix was the perfect fit, I just don't see this show being a hit on network TV in the current network TV climate. But I guess we'll never know, the original Full House had its best ratings on Tuesday nights when it was the lead-in for Roseanne. The two shows, though family sitcoms, couldn't be more different and couldn't appeal more to different audiences (in the grand scheme) .
  4. RIP, I almost can't believe he's gone. I wonder if ITV will do any special tribute.
  5. Strangely, I was able to see a lot of the 1998 episodes on PBS, but didn't get a chance to catch most of the 1999 episodes (until the material that came towards the end of 1999). It's always felt weird to me since I've seen most of 1998 and 2000. Does anyone know/remember when exactly Charlie Brooks joined as Janine in 1999? I know she arrived after Frank and Peggy were married (and I loved how disgusting she was towards Peggy).
  6. I wonder how quickly before she hits the 10 million mark and officially has another diamond album (it will probably also have the record for quickest album to achieve diamond status).
  7. Daniella and Kim might as well have been playing two separate characters as Sam never felt like the same character when you compare the actresses in the role. I do think Kim is the better actress, but obviously Daniella is the original and probably has the closer off-screen relationship with Barbara Windsor. In general though, Sam has never really felt like a fleshed out character to me. However, Sam's definitive storyline (Den's murder) was played by Kim, and during that storyline Kim did amass more episodes than Daniella.
  8. In the 80s, 90s, and early 00s if you were a pop artist whose career was primarily fueled by singles, you had to have your songs remixed for club exposure and for different radio formats. Madonna was/is the queen of the remix market and was probably the artist who really invented the modern concept of the maxi-single. Janet was a strong contender through for a while. But pop marketing changed a lot by the mid-00s and remixes and maxi-singles (let alone standard single) releases became a rare breed.
  9. I needed a break from Babs, lol. Her catalog is so vast though, you can almost find anything you want if you try hard enough. Though Alright was a top 5 hit, it was the lowest charting single off Rhythm Nation and was clearly very New Jack Swing influenced, so probably wasn't for everyone (the video is great fun though). My favorite remixes from the first half of Janet's career are Shep Pettibone's remixes for The Pleasure Principle:
  10. The only characters SOC has any prior experience with that are in the current cast are Phil, Sharon, Ian, Martin, Sonia, Dot, Billy, and Patrick. I guess he was there for Stacey's first few months as well. I forgot Jane, but I'd like to forget her completely at this point.
  11. Isn't Demi also close friends with Selena Gomez? I wonder how Selena feels being in the middle.
  12. "influence on her" - by going to the EDM/dance route? Working with the likes of Calvin, Diplo, Skillex, Zedd, David Guetta, etc? I don't think Taylor needs to do that when so many pop artists are already doing that. I think the next move, after releasing another pop album, is going the pop-rock route and be more instrument based, since she can play the acoustic and electric guitar. Not a lot of pop stars are playing their own instruments right now. So in terms of people she's hanging around who might have some influence on her, I'm hoping she'll lean towards Haim than Calvin. The EDM/dance route is very diverse and always changing. She could pluck an up and coming underground DJ/producer and bring something to the mainstream that isn't quite as popular yet. But other than a few songs and some remixes, I agree the EDM/dance route isn't quite right for her. I think for the next project, she can afford to take more risks and stretch herself outside of her comfort zone a bit. She shouldn't be looking to do 1989 2.0.
  13. Demi is a nobody, she shouldn't insert herself into a situation concerning much more successful pop stars.
  14. I guess Taylor and will never work with Dr. Luke (not that I mind)... I think Taylor can use her next project to take some risks (maybe hanging around Calvin Harris will have an influence on her). She's reached a level where she can afford to experiment without alienating her core fanbase. Sort of like what Madonna used to do during her peak years - bring elements of the underground into the mainstream because you have the platform to do it.
  15. Too bad she gave up on Style before it even started, she could have tied or broken Janet Jackson's record of 7 top 5 hits off one album (Rhythm Nation 1814). Rhythm Nation 1814 also has the record for being the only album to produce a #1 single in three separate years (1989, 1990, and 1991), so if Taylor can score another #1 this year off of 1989, she could perhaps tie that record.
  16. Still the best moment EE has had this decade. I am just glad DTC and his minions won't there to oversee anything in regards to Janine ever again if Charlie decides to return. DTC and Santer never got the character at all. For all of his faults, Kirkwood got Janine and naturally progressed and developed her (and he didn't need to turn her into a saint in order to do that).
  17. It's from the Mirror, so always to be taken with a grain of salt: http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/eastenders-stars-quit-now-shows-7397194
  18. I think the show was canceled just before he took over or just after. The show was on its way out regardless though.
  19. In general, a lot of the reviews don't seem kind to the Bowie tribute. Niel Rogers has just come out trying to defend it.
  20. I just can't wait for SOC to completely B-list the Carter's. Getting rid of them may be too much to ask, but DTC had a personal investment in them that I doubt any following EP will have.
