April rolls around and Audrey is still reminding her that secrecy is most important. When Peggy realizes that Tom doesn't know the baby lived, she knows she has leverage over Audrey. The requests for more money become more frequent. It's May 1971, and Nurse Audrey March Hardy Baldwin is at the mercy of Peggy Nelson. When Peggy is ill, Steve offers to help her "friend". Steve is not a fan of the way Peggy's calls affect Audrey, and "Sarge"-- Audrey's sister Lucille-- wants to know who this Peggy person is!!! Audrey has plans on Memorial Day to go away with Steve (and Lucille) but Peggy doesn't care. She leaves Audrey in the lurch. Audrey cancels their trip to stay with Stevie, and is extremely exhausted. Peggy returns late from decorating her uncle's gravesite. She wrongly assumes that Steve is Stevie's father because of his name. Audrey tells Peggy she has to work more hours, Peggy demands even more money. Peggy telephones Lucille and learns she believes her nephew died -- that the baby Peggy cares for is her own! Peggy has the upper hand, and July she starts doling out ultimatums! When Audrey arrives and finds a teenager babysitting she lets Peggy have it!!! Audrey spins a tale to Steve that Peggy is fostering the child. Suggesting it was Peggy's cousin's child, Audrey wants to adopt the child with Steve! Peggy grows angry about the convoluted story. When Stevie is ill, Peggy brings him to Dr. Dunlap. Dunlap believes it may be pneumonia. Tom has returned from Boston and he can't find a trace of his and Audrey's baby. Peggy continues to put the screws to Audrey. She arrives to see Stevie and Audrey has to wrangle her away from Tom, now a consultant on Stevie's case! August continues to heat up in the world of Audrey Baldwin's life. Tom comments the young, sick Stevie looks like him! Meanwhile Steve is warning Audrey that her attachment to this child will hurt her in the end. Peggy takes a moment to do the math and realizes that she has hit paydirt! Dr. Tom Baldwin is the Daddy! September falls hard on Audrey-- Peggy refuses to lie anymore, even if the secret comes out. Steve wants Audrey to get him the names of the child's parents so they can find them and arrange the adoption! Peggy's neighborhood is sketchy, and she needs a gun--and enough money to move out of it! Audrey gets her a gun, and Peggy wants $500.00 a month for life to keep the secret! Audrey returns home, hiding the gun in her toilet tank! Friday, September 24th-- Mrs. Nelson is dead on the floor, and milk bottles, newspapers and her mail are piling up outside. Mr. Mallory, the apartment manager, found her body and called the police. Lt. I know I'm in the minority, but I've enjoyed Silver. I think a good s*** stirrer is what every show needs. I preferred Imani, but since that ship has long since sailed, Audra is what we've got. (Eww to sleeping with smarmy "Flucker") That said, Griffith's warp speed approach to EVERY story is ridiculous. He's basically written Summer and Kyle into a corner. He's gone out of his way to have Jack and Kyle growl and sneer over the mere mention of her name. Jack has always been like a second father to Summer. He should be at least sympathetic to her plight. As much as I have been appreciating Allison Lanier as Summer, this cloying "But my mother will have to go to jail" routine has gotten so old. She's working with what she's got, but it's just gotten so annoying. No to Summer and Chance, though, he's too old for her-- even with the retcon . No one would even consider it if "Good ole MAGA lieutenant" Donny Boaz was still in the role. Griffith obviously has no idea what to do with Phallus, even with both kids on the canvas. Then again, he's just been showing us how foolish the notion was to make him both EP and Head Writer at the same time. Dead babies, bombs attached to a teen, pulling a dead Diane redux with "Big Red", Ashland Nate using Victoria to screw Chancellor Newman Enterprises, etc... New blood needs to end this horrible set of stories. Where's the romance? Jack and Diane? Flucker and Ash? Where's the Young in Young and the Restless? He couldn't even write for Moses, who should have been around to help resolve the problems between his brother and sister.
