This is it in a nutshell. It sure seems Ken has been satisfied with the garbage Ron has been writing.  Days won't make it. They keep saying how great the numbers were for the Beyond Salem specials but those were so much better than the regular show and that's why people watched.

On peacock? Right now nothing unfortunately...

I liked SBTB 2.0 so I was surprised it was cancelled. Each their own. Nothing else I watch on Peacock either to be fair. I did try to watch Episode 1 of "Bel-Air" but didn't finish it.

The streaming landscape is bloated, IMHO. Only the strong survive. And I tend to hesitate with several of them due to how quick they are to cancel shows ... it's hard to justify the investment. I have Amazon Prime, Disney+ and sometimes I let those lapse. I gave up Hulu a while ago and Netflix ages ago.

Based on the AOL streaming, I would guess Edge of Night and maybe they consider Texas an extension of AW. Very irritating to hear 5 different streaming services were interested and they turned them down. P&G is really our only hope since Disney is obviously not going to let anybody touch their soaps.

So irritating to hear that so many services want them and yet nothing ... sigh.

    Has to be EDGE

LOL she didn't kill Melrose. The final season was a bit of a renaissance. It just took the heat for 90210 and a bored network. The Eve character was a too slow burn and quite boring when she remained a heroine, but the umbrella story overall worked and when she finally lost her mind it was a good time.

Yep. The last season was a step up and she rocked it. The show was disgustingly expensive (Heather Locklear's salary alone could have made numerous pilots, etc.)

+1. I loved Eve and the story of her losing it as well. I just remember some in the media and on the net back in the early/mid-00’s unfairly gave her the label. I clearly remember one critic going as so far as to call her the female “Ted McGinley”. Yeesh. People were so stupid at the time.

Yep, loved Eve going nuts. Didn't she tie up Lexie in her underwear in the bathtub? LOL

So wild hearing Roger say they were ready for monthly releases. It does seem like the rug was pulled from under them. They seemed to think everything was going well and for a while it seemed that way, but as always with soaps, something had to go wrong.

The RetroTV thing really drives me crazy. Soap fans are the only group that don't have a streaming service devoted to them. You have stuff for game shows, wrestling, British tv, sitcoms, etc., but not soaps. Imagine how excited the community would be if that app had multiple soaps on it. I hope that even though P&G turned them down that they can find another company willing to license soaps to them.

Yep. A SoapClassics/SOAPNET revival would work well. RetroTV was the closest we had.

ABC must be holding on for dear life to AMC and OLTL.

Santa Barbara deserves a run but isn't all of it on YouTube?

It feels like Josh writes this show like an episodic primetime series instead of a soap with any long story. I'm not keen when several characters change career fields at the same time. Nate should've remained a doctor but still could've been on the board of Hamilton-Winters. I'm ready for the Imani and Nate affair to happen soon.

But that makes sense. Can't have that!

Agree. We're 7 months away from the 50th anniversary and still nothing to build up to it.

    Seriously.

    You'd never know it.

This is what happens when there's lack of friendships on these shows...I think I would find most of Steffy's dialogue more tolerable if she was confiding in a close friend at least.

Or the husband that came back from the dead who's already off-screen ... LOL.

I like the idea of Bill/Li. I love how morbid she was over Sheila and Bill finding it hot.

  7. Yeah, it would have easily worked for Mac to have a kid. We can't pretend some of these characters didn't do the nasty off-screen before their entrances and knocked someone up. Mac would fit that bill and give York something to do. And Maxie could hate on him. I have a harder time with all the women who hide these kids. But when we've seen them on-screen, it's harder to buy. Dominique never seemed like she would have given up a son but whatever. Katherine/Mac would be far more interesting, especially as we just had the parapet death for Esme and TruckNuts could hate Nikolas and the Cassadines. But that would require different writing.

I don't love Scott getting involved with a deranged terrorist and eugenicist who should be back in Steinmauer, but Kathleen Gati is talented, they have fun together for the moment and it's not like Scott is a stranger to, well, strange. I'd still make Obrecht a recurring on-off villain to come in and out again; I don't believe she has a permanent place in a normal canvas. As for Bobbie, Jackie Zeman's face has gone through so many changes, both good, bad and worse in the last 20 years; every time I think it's settled down and is looking better, something else is done and she can barely speak. Frankly it's severely affected her performance, not just how she enunciates but what she poorly tries to bring to the delivery to make up for her facial issues. It's sad, because I love Bobbie and always have. But unless Jackie's face is doing better and she can deliver more nuanced work I don't need to see her that often anymore.

AFAIK, based on timelines, there is absolutely no conceivable way Scott and Dominique could have another adult child. Unless they want to suggest Josh Kelly is somehow Serena's long lost twin which, no.

God no to him being Serena's twin! I'm also glad they leave Serena off-canvas. Scott's kids all end up cast poorly and dead. I just don't buy Dominique having a kid. Who cares? Obrecht and Scott are a bright spot to me, on the current canvas. They both sell it well but don't seem to be played enough.

I feel bad for Jackie because I think she was so affected by JFP's treatment of her ...

  9. I really don't even see the point in, as social media calls him, TruckNuts, being Dominique's. Katherine's son makes way more sense to me and would give MAC something to do (as I said before, giving him a son would be a great move). But whatever.

They probably pair him with Maxie as her and Austin just isn't working (Austin/Britt would have made more sense and Roger/Kelly worked well together). Still, there's little point to Austin, IMO (especially with no AJ or Jason to play off of, and Monica barely on). Especially when they could have brought on Tom or Steven Lars.

  10. I'm annoyed Nikki is so friendly with Phyllis. It doesn't really make sense to me.

When did Nate give up doctoring to become a company exec? Was nice seeing Brytni. It's clear there's still such little investment in them which is a crying shame.

And kudos to Chrishell for 20 years. Not an easy accomplishment in the world of daytime. She sells the odd Billy/Lily pairing well and still has good chemistry with Bryton/Devon.
