  1. I don't find her timing odd at all. Just like I don't find the timing of Roy Moore's victims suspect. They are coming out right now because there is strength in numbers and women are finally being believed. He didn't just take a picture of her, he forcibly kissed her. She was just on Jack Tapper and I found her credible. It was very sad when JT mentioned her children and she broke down.
  2. ^ Then why did he apologize without mentioning that? I believe his accuser. She's on Jack Tapper right now and she sounds credible, imo.
  3. ^ We all knew a spill would happen eventually, but it sure didn't take long at all.
  4. ^ I hear you on Anita Hill. I have never forgotten her. We have a creep in the White House and another on the Supreme Court. Next up a man who preyed on teenager in the Senate? It can't be allowed. Meanwhile, the House passed their horrible tax bill.
  5. And this is why we are in big trouble as a nation. When the person leading you is filth it makes so much wrong doing permissible. His corruption has been permeating our society since he was elected. It's like the kids in a near by high school who were taunting Latino kids with "build the wall!!" How do you credibly punish them when our actual President leads these chants at his rallies?
  6. I agree. All of these disgusting guys have got to go. Also I agree with DD that this tax plan is a nightmare.
  7. ^ Yikes. 15 and 19 doesn't sound that bad at first. Aren't stat rape laws designed to protect the 19 year old in these cases, since they might have met at school? Still, when you actually see the video, that is just plain gross.
  8. Yes, but these are also the people who are high on their own entrenched power. I wasn't surprised how hard it was to file a sexual harassment complaint once I really thought about it. These lawmakers always cover their own asses and make sure they are protected. Enough is enough. It has to end.
  9. I hope they are all publicly exposed and cast out. I don't care which party they are from these creeps have got to go.
  10. Yes. As that article that Faulkner posted pointed out there are also plenty of situations that are not high profile enough to be covered. There are plenty of low level managers in all kinds of industries who have been harassing their employees. There just aren't journalists there to cover it.
  11. What is her argument? I don't understand the two wrongs make a right thinking that is so common in political discourse. It's completely illogical.
  12. I had that same thought for slightly different reasons. I don't know the psychology, but it seems like a lot of these guys who go for underage will go for male or female. Whatever the reason, I will definitely not surprised if there are some male victims.
  13. That was obvious from the start. There is no way this guy only went after four teens. There is no doubt a long trail of victims. Meanwhile these women live in a place that is very hostile to them, even more so then the average victim, so it might take awhile for them to come forward. I imagine it's going to be a long couple of weeks for the GOP.
  14. So Bush senior is accused of groping a 16 year old. Ugh. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-41974116
  15. This shouldn't be the thing that pisses me off the most in this article, yet somehow it is: As John Oliver has noted, the actor Casey Affleck — accused by two women of sexual harassment during filming (charges he denies) — will be giving out the Best Actress statue at the next Oscars.
  16. Me too. Women seemed to love this movie. Seems like they would lose a lot of goodwill if they chose Rat over Gal.
  17. How disgusting that she even has to issue that ultimatum. It should be a given that he is out.
  18. I've always wanted one. Looks like it's time. Was it Carl or Khan who said people would be more likely to vote for Moore after the allegations came out? http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/360010-poll-37-percent-of-alabama-evangelicals-more-likely-to-vote-for-moore-after
  19. I've always liked Stephen King, BUT when Dylan Fallon wrote her open letter about Woody Allen he accused her of "palpable bitchery". http://time.com/4279/dylan-farrow-woody-allen-stephen-king/
  20. Yeah, that might be the best solution, since it seems he won't be shamed out of the race. I wish the loophole existed. I would rather see a half way decent human being elected than take the chance an actual child molester is elected to the Senate. My god. Things are so far off the rails. I'm not religious, but I truly do not believe a country can prosper when citizens see that we are being led by evil people. Things are already bad enough this would be one more step toward perdition.
  21. OK, I am going to defend Hannity here just a little. Society as a whole does still distinguish between violent/forcible rape and statutory rape. Ideas about consent have changed a lot even in the last few years. So maybe that distinction is fading, but it's still there, so I don't think Hannity was wrong for pointing it out. I do think he should have condemned Moore, instead of trying to mitigate having sex with a 14 year old though. As if he's fit to hold office after that. The sheer hypocrisy of some of these people is maddening. Plus the fact that he was known for chasing after teens. Notice the GOP higher ups are trying to cut this guy loose because they know there are going to be more women coming forward. It's obvious this is the tip of the iceberg.
  22. My god. There are some sick bastards out there. That's no surprise, but that they are coming right out and admitting it and defending this disgusting behavior. Crazy.
  23. It's about to leave the vast majority of us behind, but the threat isn't a pluralistic society. As we've talked about before, the thread is AI, automation and climate change. I seriously wonder what the world is going to be in 20 years. I certainly feel anxiety for my children, but this isn't the first period of uncertainty in human history. We all have to play the hand we're dealt. I don't think we can predict what will happen even 10 years from now. Maybe we'll be lucky and this era of Trumpisim will seem like a distant bad memory.
  24. The thought that there are around 75 million people in his base is really disheartening. This last election gave me hope that he won't win again, but still. It's stunning. After everything he's done and said he still has more support than I would have thought possible before this $hit show started.
  25. ^ The money issue makes a lot of sense. This article is arguing that we don't support all victims equally. I'm sure it's a combination of those things.
