I mean, Marlena kept correcting John's math and was clear she hadn't seen that many patients. So it's not really up for debate because she kept saying that wasn't how many patients she has actually treated. It was an awkward excuse to pay tribute to Deidre's 5000th episode, but it wasn't made to be taken seriously. I am not trying to be argumentative, but the show was not making it out to be an accurate assessment at all. Just John boasting about how awesome his wife is.

I momentarily blanked on Harris's name and almost wrote Jason lol. So I just went with Steve Burton was "acting" in this segment. Full disclosure, I actually don't think SBu is that bad at the acting. No. Colin was around about 20 years ago and romanced Jennifer (among a bunch of other ladies). He could be this Colin's dad. Thanks for this! Sweet tributes for such a big achievement. It feels so poignant and special after losing so many daytime legends this year.

I agree. And it was very clunky the way John kept saying she saw 5000 patients and that's why they are celebrating, while Marlena was like no I haven't seen nearly 5000 patients. Weird dialogue, but you could tell Drake was very heartfelt with his words and it's clear it meant a lot to Deidre and Drake, so that's nice.

Honestly, the show didn't acknowledge her 45th anniversary or Drake's 35th either, so the fact this was mentioned on screen was considered a tribute to me.

I am always amazed at how awful Deidre looks in that Pit. Marlena truly looks at death's door. That was a good flashback as was the scene with Jennifer's friend on the ledge from 1986. The whole coma thing would have been avoided if Marlena just wore more sensible shoes lol.

I thought about Soap Central, but the idea of reading through recaps of 2002 does not bring me joy. 😂 I'll take your word for it. It looks like Sami/Nicole were shot at by an assassin after Victor. Nicole got shot and Sami was fine. Sami did not shoot Nicole. This seems to have to do with Colin.

Same. When you actually read the story she had, Faith did a lot and most of it was pretty awful. I thought Preston had a great presence and chemistry with a lot of characters on the show.

No. It was just Marlena/John and about 4 flashbacks. A regular episode with different segments. John was celebrating the fact Marlena had helped 5000 patients. No kids. No Roman/Don/children flashbacks Chad, Steve, and Steve Burton went to save Kate from her captor. Stephanie/Alex tried to make a business deal with a Million Dollar Listing realtor. Maggie/Roman talked about something for awhile.

She had quite a bit of story that she ran through in that time. I do wonder why she was killed off, but Faith's last story was kidnapping all Sonny's kids and faking Michael's death to give him to AJ. Perhaps Guza or Phelps thought Faith had been taken too far.

Happy 5000th! Deidre! The tribute was okay. I would have picked different flashbacks, but the Pit, Marlena falling off the building, and the Mickey one aren't used very often. I won't comment about the Ben one lol. Regardless, I am happy it was given a celebration. Was that Josh Flagg from Million Dollar Listing playing Yuri? Peacock synergy lol. Why was Stephanie even there? And was Yuri doing coke in the bathroom? Is that what was being implied? So silly. I am a little confused as to why Chad is still helping find Kate. He's just leaving his young kids with 90 year olds Doug/Julie for an extended period of time? Cool. Realistically, Roman should be helping instead, but at least Chad's not 50 plus so I guess that helps the cause more.

I can't find any evidence that Sami shot her, but since Sami does shoot people by accident regularly I am going to believe this.

I always thought Sonny/Faith would have been an interesting pairing. Obviously, she was already in the mob world, but she knew the ins and outs and did enjoy it. I am sure MB wouldn't have been into it because Faith was the villian and back then it was very clear Sonny was the good mobster.

Yes! That's what I was thinking of as far as her infertility issues. The scaring. I really don't dislike the idea of Nicole/Eric having a kid, but with everything else going against her it's quite a stretch. When/why was she shot? Do you recall? I think the coronation was earlier? Did it have something to do with Victor?

Literally do not remember this, but it clearly happened. I sort of want to look up where/when. I don't know why I thought it had something to do with her porn past. Damn, Sam McCall really stole Nicole's story on GH I guess.

Was Nicole shot in the uterus? I thought that was Sam on GH. I thought Nicole couldn't get pregnant or carry full term because of her porn past and some venereal issues. Lol!

No. The romance itself wasn't good at all and it is the first Brendabot to make an appearance on the show. But it actually moved the Jason/Carly/Sonny story forward a lot. Carly is the one who figured out that Hannah was a FBI agent and it ended up being a catalyst for the beginnings of Sonny/Carly.

I like that idea a lot. It's interesting an something different. I don't ever need to see a Marlena kidnapping again. I know it's John/Marlena's bread and butter, but they are getting a little old for it. I just don't see the writing being there. I don't think the DH's are the best in the acting game, but I think they could pull it off. Deidre Hall was pretty awesome in the 70's and 80's

I don't know if the show could handle anything like this, but an actual health scare for John/Marlena would work so much better for me. Not a stupid poisoning or fake death, but John having a heart attack or stroke and Marlena helping him through that. It may be too bleak for Days and because DH's aren't getting any younger, but I would like a realistic story like that. Although I know it would all take place in that one tiny hospital room with Kayla as the Dr.

Agreed. Although I would argue Lily was boring from day one. I think the archetype is the Brenda romance for Sonny and for whatever reason the show just keeps playing the same story in different ways to see if it will work again. The mob is bad and dangerous. No woman can handle it. Got it. If Sonny's relationship with Claudia wasn't so awful and misogynistic it actually might have worked better. It was a different take to a Sonny romance. Hannah was played by Jonathon Jackson's now wife Lisa Vultaggio. She was an FBI agent that was brought in to seduce Sonny and get incriminating evidence against him. She came in after Brenda "died" and was chosen for the assignment because she looked so much like Brenda. She dated AJ and Taggart after Sonny. It was a flop, but LV did really look like a Brenda/Lily hybrid.

It feels like Jackee is acting like she's in front of a live studio audience. I think she does her best work with the motherly scenes with Chanel. I agree about Days going back to basics. John/Marlena/Patch/Kayla do not need to be doing action/adventure stuff at this point. I don't think we need to ditch the Hortons or Bradys. There are loads of characters to dump starting with Rafe, Leo, and Gwen.

It's too bad Sonny/Nina are what they are now. I thought there was something there when they started interacting as Nina/Mike. It felt at the very least a little fresh for Sonny, but it's devolved into the same old same old romance for him.

It really annoys me. I know on GH Mac lost his accent one day and it was never spoken of again, but this is just something so lazy and weird to not address. All you have to say is one line about Sloan working hard to lose her English accent or something to distance herself from the family and heartbreak. But no, we are just pretending it's absolutely normal for siblings to have two different accents when they grew up together and have the same mother and father.

I have always found Jackee's acting style OTT for Days. I know that's rich coming from a Deidre Hall fan, but she comes off cartoonishly a lot and I know she's capable of more. I also don't think Paulina has a lot of depth. I feel like Paulina is a personality more than an actual character. It's not high on my list of Days complaints, but I understand what you are saying completely. I believe Paulina's house is supposed to be an actual penthouse. It just looks small like everything else on Days.
