I think HMK is still really awful. The thing about NuMolly is that she does channel HP, but HP's most annoying traits lol. She's extremely shrill in her delivery. Although I will say she is better than she was on day one so maybe there is hope.

Yup. And it's just a missed oppurtunity to make the story have more layers. Not that I am advocating a Gwen/Leo/Dmitri triangle, but it's like the ending and 'root' for couple have already had sex in one episode. No longing, no progression of feelings-it's so rushed as usual.

Days: July 2023 Discussion Thread
Well, I hate to defend Joss but even she wouldn't sleep with Spencer to prove he's no good for Trina lol. That's like a Sonny thing to do lol Gwen deserves it, but it would be more satisfying coming from Sarah or something. Not someone who is her bff. It makes me feel slightly bad for her. There was no reason not to tell Gwen to begin with. I assume she would have been fine with it. And then she could have caught feelings and realized Dmitri and Leo were a thing. Now she just looks like a fool and it's a bad look for everyone involved instead of a difficult situation of fighting feelings with nuance.

Days: July 2023 Discussion Thread
You are right I did conveniently forget that. 😂 So fair... At this point though I think they moved passed that and are bff's again? Anyhow, I think it's really crappy to do to someone you claim is your friend. It's gross. There really isn't a good reason to just let Gwen in on the plan.

The thing about Leo/Dmitri is that Leo is easily discarding the most genuine relationship he has on the show. Like it or not, Gwen/Leo has been shoved in our faces and Leo just immediately trashed that relationship to jump into bed with Dmitri. I thought he had some loyalty to Gwen, but none at all. Gwen is awful, but she has literally done nothing to deserve this treatment from Leo or Dmitri. As far as Wendy, I thought when she was introduced she was quite spunky and different. She's turned into a standard heroine at this point and she is boring. Deidre loves a blazer. Deidre has loved a blazer since forever. Of course she has 1000's. I hate the look and actually think her sleep/loungewear looks much better, but her blazers have been a thing for decades now. Pair it with a flannel and she's raring to go.

Best/Worst Written Soap Affairs
Mac and Alexis were so clunky. The actors had very little chemistry and they'd flirt a little and kiss and it would get dropped for months and start again in the same spot. It never progressed at all, but went on for such a long time. I remember a Thanksgiving? Christmas? where the Davis girls and Maxie tried to play matchmaker and it was like a year into the story. I was thinking 'they are still going with this?' It was so awkward all around. I mean, don't even get me started with Robert and the Talbots Suit Lawyer.

I assume this Carly stuff is very temporary and she will be wealthy again soon. Sonny goes through "phases" where he is down and out too and it never sticks. I don't think you even have to do more than mention Jax's name or even say Joss's father helped me out. I understand Ingo is persona non grata, but he's still a major character's ex-husband and dad. I wonder how many people in the audience even know Ingo is what he is and are curious why he is never mentioned lol. As far as Bobbie-I agree. I wouldn't expect Bobbie to give Carly 5 million, but I could see her giving her a loan because she does own Kelly's and would be comfortable as you said. I think the best solution would be just a throwaway line about why Carly doesn't explore these options instead of the show just ignoring all the different ways she could get herself out of it.

Nicole's ponytail looked better than Gwen's stringy ponytail, but Nicole consistently does have bad hair. What was Stefan doing while Gabi was with Megan? I am glad Roman got a point of view in Abe's death. Even though it's JT I did think Roman's reaction was missing from this. The Shawn/Belle stuff continues to mostly play off screen and has the least amount of time even when they do appear, but it's the most interesting. 40 does seem a really odd or old age to require Dmitri to be married by. Most men are married at least once by 40. It seems like a really low bar to achieve.

So why couldn't Carly ask Jax? Or her mother? As @Darn said, it's not like Carly needs to pay it all in one lump sum lol. I am sure there is a way for her to get a few loans. Is there any evidence there is a NuMolly? Last I saw HMK's stint was just made longer through the summer.

General Hospital: July 2023 Discussion Thread
It's so silly. Multiple people would bail her out and she also could go out and get a job. At Deception or even the Metro Court (I am sure Olivia would force Nina to hire her). She literally has experience at both those places. And since I assume there is no mortgage on the house and she gets child support from Sonny for Donna how much could her expenses be? Lol. I don't feel sorry for her at all for having to move herself and young daughter out of a mansion and into a nice condo. Also, why were the Davis girls in an empty nail salon today? Were they doing their own nails? No extras to be nail techs today? And HMK continues to be completely unnatural as Molly.

Carly mentioned they were getting an apartment off campus in the fall to Sam yesterday. They are living with her at the moment though.

I have no problem with Megan popping in and out, but she was the most exciting Dimera onscreen. I would argue you keep Megan and get rid of Kristen for a long while.

General Hospital: July 2023 Discussion Thread
Why doesn't Carly just ask Jax or Sonny for a loan? I obviously don't expect her to get a job like a real person, but if she doesn't want to take money from Sonny I am sure Jax would help. Someone pays for Joss's college and apartment she is getting off campus so I assume it's Jax.

I was thinking the same thing about Jerry. Is he in his 30's and just looks really good? He said it was a few years ago, but Whitley clearly said it was 2008, started the tape, talked about the episode and left. It's not like the episodes jumped around. Abe was still watching the same episode. And once again, if this show is happening in 2008 whey is everyone dressed like it's 1984? Nothing about this little soap in a soap makes sense.

Days: July 2023 Discussion Thread
I don't follow Ron on social media and only see what's brought over here usually. The reason I think he's burnt out and/or lazy is because he continually uses the same ideas and stories in every show he's written. He uses the same tropes again and again and again. Perhaps he's not lazy and just not creative at all? Lol. There has also been a steep decline in his writing for Days since he started. I think RC was very good his first year on Days and has run out of steam. Again, it's the same issue he had at OLTL and GH. So while I don't know him personally and don't know if he's truly lazy or dismissive there is a very clear pattern of behavior that he follows with any show he headwrites. He also seems to be very defensive and highly sensitive to criticism. I don't think Ron is actively tanking Days, but I also don't think he's super motivated to create good storytelling either. I think Ron just basically coasts along doing the bare minimum to keep his job.

Days: July 2023 Discussion Thread
I think Wendy/Gabi are okay and still friendly. I remember them making up after the Li stuff-plus Gabi was really short on guests lol. I also think the Gwen/Laura stuff is intriguing in theory, but at the same time I 'm pretty sure Ron was just being lazy and didn't want to pin Laura's death on Gwen. He just might bring it back later. I believe Abby told Jen about Gwen's confession and Jen pushed about it for a little bit and then dropped it after she hit Gwen with her car while high.

Days: July 2023 Discussion Thread
I believe Gwen was hiding from Jake's mob ties. She had a first edition book that Jake's boss wanted. So she hid in an institution to avoid giving the book back. Which I think she ended up doing anyway. As far as the Laura confession, I think it's just open to interpretation.

Days: July 2023 Discussion Thread
There are days when I do find Leo funny. It's rare, but there are occasions when he doesn't bother me. I actually think his friendship with Gwen is kind of sweet. It's a shame it's the only friendship we see on the show and it is wasted on them, but I do think it's one of the few things about Leo that seems real.

Do Steve Burton and BB still have that cover band together with Spinelli? That was all I could think about during the Harris/Stefan scenes lol. That probably doesn't speak highly of the show. I will say the extras in the background during the engagement party scenes were really giving their all though. The Nicole/Eric scenes were good, but they always are.

I am sure it's adorable in real life, but on tv I prefer to understand what the character is trying to say. I know it was nothing important. I am just already annoyed with Michael Easton/Liz scenes and Violet only cranks that annoyance up to 10. Especially in an episode where I had to watch Carly/Drew's undying love and Ava/Roger Howarth talk about whatever nonsense they are up to. Trina/Spencer can't save everything in an episode.

Good for NC! I never thought he would stay past his initial contract, but that's a great oppurtunity for him. I actually think Chavez will be a big thing someday. I am pretty sure @Vee or @Darn mentioned the little girl playing Violet and her lisping and I have never paid attention. I feel bad being mean about a kid, but I can't understand what the hell that little girl was saying today. Since GH has employed MB as a lead for 30 years I know enunciation isn't a big concern for TPTB, but I am sure there's a little cute blond girl out there that can perform Violet's role so I can understand what's she's saying. And I was confused how Violet and Liz got close enough to call her "Aunt Elizabeth" until I realized Elizabeth was actually her Aunt lol. Ugh..... Someone is going to have to walk me through why Spencer hates Dex. I know he has forever, but is it because of Cam? Or does he just hate him because of reasons?

Days: June 2023 Discussion Thread
Yeah, understandable. I am not saying Ron isn't bad or burnt out or that he should get a pass because he's about the same as other bad Days writers lol. I am just saying I can definitely remember being a least as frustrated with some previous writing regimes. I do think it's time for Days to make a serious change to adjust with the budget and streaming so in that regard I do agree with everyone else. It's almost hard for me to remember when Days was "good" though.

Days: June 2023 Discussion Thread
No.😂 I am not saying the show today is anything great, but I don't think it's a rapid decline. It's been just a steadily bad for years and years. Now is that an argument that the show should have been canceled years ago? Maybe, but I am glad it's still here even if I just make fun of it lol. The one thing I will say about Days is that although the budget/production/execution is awful, it still feels like Days. You see characters you have seen for years and their children and grandchildren and I do think it has a familiarity that makes it special. I mean, the characters are generally in sets that resemble cardboard boxes, but at least it's characters we know and like for the most part.

Days: June 2023 Discussion Thread
When you add the lack of budget to the fact that most of the show's action stars are well into enjoying their AARP benefits, it might be time to scale back. Instead of watching Marlena on a soap opera within a soap opera we could have seen her treat Talia or heard her counsel Belle about Shawn's drinking and grief. That being said, I agree with @te. I honestly have been preparing for Days cancellation for years now and I genuinely don't find it significantly worse than it was 15 years ago. The budget is laughable, but Days has been bad and silly for years. Some of Ron's early work was probably the best stuff Days had in 20 years lol. I don't think RC is very good and I make fun of this show all the time, but I really don't see a sharp decline in quality. It's been bad quality since 2007 tbh. That's not a ringing endorsement or anything. I just don't think anything I saw in 2013 was much better than what I am seeing now.
