  1. The bottom line is everything about Body & Soul has been in bad taste. From the start.
  2. Agreed. I do think Deidre is one of Ron's faves. He's always seemed to prefer John/Marlena to Steve/Kayla. Anyhow, it felt like a skit on why soap actors get fired sometimes. Soap stars are divas and demanding.
  3. I honestly took it as a veiled shot at Deidre Hall implying certain actresses/actors/characters trump talent and throw their weight around to get others fired. But Ron seems to like Deidre so maybe I am overthinking it.
  4. Not only is it insulting, but the show made it seem like Bonnie was the better actress and that Hattie really couldn't act-she just looked like Charlamagne. So it doesn't really make sense that Hattie would be more valuable.
  5. Continuing the discussion from the previous months thread, but I can't believe this Body & Soul story was greenlit and allowed to air. Not only is it clear Ron hates soaps, his own job, and his own audience, but the "humor" is such a thinly veiled attempt for Ron to air his own personal grievances. Every time I hear one of the jokes about making a soap opera it makes me feel stupid for being a fan and watching. I am not laughing with them. Ron/Jamey are laughing at me for watching this dreck. I seriously wonder if Ron knew he was halfway out the door and wrote this as revenge. We know he's petty. I think Kate, Abe, Johnny, Chanel, Alex, and even Stephanie treat the show fairly seriously and if only they were involved I probably wouldn't hate it. Adding those idiots Bonnie, Hattie, and Leo is where it because a big joke. A few witty lines about soaps is one thing, but writing this with the intent of mocking the genre, the actors, and the fans is one of the most idiotic things I have ever seen air on daytime.
  6. Me too. This Body & Soul stuff is rough. I don't even mind it existing. I just don't need full episodes about this nonsense. Both Hattie and Bonnie are such useless characters that should have been ditched long ago. Honestly, if one day JE walks into a room and everyone just starts calling her Adrienne again and we just pretend Bonnie never existed I wouldn't even question it. Well, that would be a twist lol.....
  7. I really hope Ron's plan isn't to burn through Deidre's guarantees on Hattie because he's not sure what to do with Marlena. I don't think anyone wants that.
  8. Lol! I haven't watched the episode yet, but my thumbnail is super spoilery.
  9. Yeah. At some point I will go back and watch them when this isn't so fresh, but I remember thinking to myself they were just a really nice set of scenes between the two of them.
  10. Of course, I am disappointed and upset I have already seen his last episode air. Drake's final scenes with Deidre/Marlena were quite nice. It was normal Marlena/John couple-y stuff, but in a way it was the perfect scenes for them to end on.
  11. That's lovely. Thank you for making this! It does rattle the show to its core. It will be an entirely different Days once John is gone. Hopefully the show can move on with Marlena as its matriarch much like Alice did after Tom's passing.
  12. My greatest takeaway is how genuine he seemed. We can joke about his acting, expressions, and tics, but every relationship on the show was believable. From Marlena to his children and his grandkids on the show. All of his friendships. Drake just radiated joy and happiness playing John. You knew he was enjoying his role and enjoyed his fans. We lost a good one yesterday, but I'll always be grateful for the memories and joy he brought me.
  13. It warms my heart to see all the costar tributes! Drake really made an impression on people and seems like such a well liked man. It makes it a little easier to deal with knowing how many people will miss him and loved him.
  14. Yup! I will say almost all of my favorite memories on Days have John in them. Obviously, I am one of the biggest John/Marlena fans on this board, but he helped carry Days in the 90's. I don't think I am out of line saying that if it wasn't for Drake/John (and his stories) Days would have been cancelled years ago.
  15. Thank you! I woke up this morning still very sad, but then I thought of all the crappy times in my life that I just turned on Days and Drake/John made me smile no matter what. John/Marlena got me through some rough times. It will be difficult watching the next months on Days knowing he's gone but I will forever cherish the memories. It's touching to see cast members talk about him. He seems universally loved. I am praying for his wife and family. The way Drake spoke about his wife was always particularly touching.
  16. What a beautiful post by Martha. Ali's was lovely as well.
  17. Yup. It hits hard for me. I just love John/Marlena. And I don't know how I am going to get through 9 months or so of him still on screen. Cancer is a b*tch, but I still hope his family, friends, loved ones know how much he meant to me and all of us.
  18. I actually cried when I first read this and I had heard solid rumors he was very ill. I just didn't believe it. Not my John. Not the most awesome dad in the world. I hope all his loved ones know how much he will be missed by the daytime community. A true legend and a stand up guy.
  19. I had heard rumors he was ill, but I always thought he was invincible. He seemed like a wonderful guy and family man. My prayers to everyone that loved him and there are a lot of people out there that do.
  20. RIP Drake. No other words. I am devastated.
  21. I would assume about 7 to 10 years on the show, but only 3 years IRL
  22. I don't think Chanel is keen on Holly because of her crush on Johnny. Holly is kinda dumb, IMO. She doesn't have any street smarts and trust too many people. And, yes, everyone calling Holly's "Aunt Sarah" is obnoxious. Like most of us watch everyday. We don't need the familial reminders.
  23. It would make more sense. I don't want them to fall into the Shawn/Belle mold where they are destined to be together forever and ever. That's boring. Obviously, Nicole being off canvas is a fail, but other people around town being scandalized by it could make up for it. EJ needs to be his sleazy self. The show is playing the character too much on the fence about him being decent vs. evil.
