  1. This looks...suspicious.
  2. I wish these pundits would dispense with the sports analogies. This is not a game for most of us, it is deadly serious, something many of us were trying to get across in the last presidential election but many ignored. I doubt the media has learned anything since then.
  3. Bye bye, fake charity.
  4. With each subsequent writing regime, the Stenbeck heir origin stories became worse. I think the very worst had to be Henry Colman's Stenbeck heir story. Totally pointless, idiotic and annoying. It seems by that time, TIIC were determined to have Barbara's endgame story to be tied to a Stenbeck man, even if they had to invent yet another Stenbeck man. By that time, Gunnar would've been the least illogical option, lol. I watched a block of ATWT episodes from 1988 and Meg's hair...whewww! Not only the hair but the outfits...Meg looks like she wandered off the set of The Golden Girls.
  5. Written properly, Gunnar could've been brought back virtually any time up to the show's cancellation, the possibilities were endless for any writer worth their salt, especially seeing that the character never 'died' onscreen. Barbara had him declared legally dead (eventually) but I don't remember there being any solid evidence.
  6. As you all may have already guessed, things are not going well at CBS.
  7. Having Gunnar leave in a hot air balloon (wasn't that how he left Oakdale?) makes me wonder whether they were deliberately leaving open the possibility for a surprise return and miraculous recovery of the character. Even a year later, Barbara was still looking for proof of Gunnar's death, from what I remember..
  8. Speaking of Cons-
  9. So much for the patriotism of the GOP.
  10. And the thread was so focused until seven hours ago, now we are starting to have odd, rambling posts again. Sigh. If someone doesn't recognize the difference between the way Obama's legacy is being handled by his successor and the way Bush's legacy was handled by his successor then he is beyond hope. Also, Antonio Sabato Jr. was always just a chiseled face and body. I seriously doubt anyone looked at him for his thoughts and ideas on...anything. He wasn't even a good actor. Yeah, that Ignore feature really needs to become functional sometime soon so rambling posts can be skimmed over quicker.
  11. And apparently, when the university pushed the Economics Department to find qualified female candidates for professorships, this man Roland Fryer claimed that no such candidates exist!
  12. How the hell does someone get tenure at a major college or university before the age of 40?!!
  13. I hope all these tenants, even the former ones, sue for what they're owed.
  14. At 20:52, a pre-Y&R Victoria Rowell as Nella Franklin #2. I think I saw her name on the list of credits from as early as 1987 but the episodes where she appears are missing from You Tube until 1988.
  15. Sorry. Yes, Iva and Kirk should've been a long term couple. As much as I loved Marland as a HW, he really went wrong with that one. ATWT, during the 1980s was almost spoiled for choice at one time. The problem can be that when you have too many possibilities, it almost presents a myriad of ways that you can go wrong and mess things up. Speaking of things that are messed up, I've been watching a bunch of episodes from 1988 the past few weeks, and in my quest to look up the actors who played minor characters in storylines I found myself on IMDB again looking at the bios of the group of actors involved in the Greek/hostage/terror rescue storyline invovling Craig. The actor who played the main terrorist/hostage keeper, an actor named Olek Krupa is in a movie that is starring Julianne Moore, of all people, called Bel Canto Did any of the soap blogs mark the passage of the actor who played Inspector Heniotes (Louis Zorich)? I discovered that he had been married to Olympia Dukakis until his death this year. Quite a few actors who played minor roles on ATWT went on to have flourishing careers as character actors--about all of the actors involved in this storyline are still acting today. Impressive.
  16. Trump has truly opened the floodgates for these overly confident yet entirely mediocre and morally deficient characters.
  17. Thanks for posting @DRW50. What an elegant woman Nancy Wilson was! I loved her voice. I'm sad to know that she's gone. I still think ATWT messed up with most of the trajectory of Kirk Anderson's story. Instead of Ellie, they really should've held out for an Iva/Kirk/Samantha triangle, with Lucinda interfering throughout. Could've been juicy.
  18. It's in the article. "The voting members included three tournament representatives, Gavin Forbes, Charles Humphrey Smith and Mark Webster, and two player representatives, David Egdes and Alex Inglot." Gimelstob can still be voted out by the player council by majority vote from the 10 players. It was the 10 man player council, I think, who voted out Roger Rasheed because he voted on a small increase by tournaments over the course of a year, instead of a more favorable agreement that the players wanted.
  19. So many horrid people in positions of power.
  20. I guess now that the Weekly Standard is shutting down operations, they have no more f*cks to give and are giving news to readers straight, no chaser.
  21. Why am I not surprised?
  22. Beyond cruel.
