^^ Small victories are still victories.

There's so much hatred running rampant right now it was only a matter of time before something like this happened. Europe is a powder keg and has been for some time. Immigration and a severe lack of integration has caused the far right to grow with alarming speed. Even here in tranquil, democratic, progressive Sweden. Our current government is relying on the Swedish Democrats to hold on to power, and that is a party that originated in Swedish neo-nazism in the 1990s. They may try to pretend that they have distanced themselves from those ideas, but scratch a little bit under the surface and their true colours come out. WWII is still in living memory, and yet it's happening all over again....

I don't think the results from this election will ever cease to amaze me. As an outsider I thought that Kamala did a great job under the circumstances. How anyone could choose Trump's hateful, misogynistic and racist message over the message of hope, future and unity that Harris stood for is just mindblowing and so depressing. (Not to mention Trump's obvious and severe physical and mental decline.) My faith in humanity really took a hit and I see a much darker future for all of us now.

I wasn't trying to dismiss your feelings. This is hard for all of us. And you're right, I also fear that this can spread elsewhere. It's amazing how quickly we humans forget the past. There are still people alive who lived through the horrors of nazism, fascism and WWII, and yet it seems we're heading down that path again....

I just feel so sad for all the people who are going to suffer now, the poor, the sick, gay and transgender people, the most vulnerable in society. And the irreparable damage a Trump administration will do to the environment. I won't be affected all that much personally, I'm a white, cis male with no children in a foreign country, but my heart aches for all those who will suffer because of this man and his cronies. It may sound overly dramatic, but I feel like I have lost a little bit of faith in humanity after this.

The way things are going I fear that we're all headed in that direction.... I'm such a Debbie Downer today. I'm sorry for adding to the already depressing mood in here.

Unfortunately it is. It's difficult to understand I know, but we have to face the facts. And my thoughts go first and foremost to those here who live in the US. As hard as it is for us, I can't even imagine how it must be for them.

Yes. This is twice now that Trump has defeated a woman infinitely more competent and accomplished than he could ever dream of being.

That is mindblowing. Never in a million years did I expect that.

I feel so bad for all of you. These news are depressing enough looking at it from the outside. I can't even imagine how it must feel for you on the inside.

This will embolden the far right everywhere. I can only imagine the glee that is felt in Moscow and Budapest right now.
