The story was well-acted, but the handling of the material was, for me, very questionable. I felt like there was an unnecessary sexual focus - we repeatedly saw them making out and saw Jacob half-clothed, which I don't think we would have seen if genders were reversed. It fed into the narrative that young men who are groomed by women are just lucky. The choice to give Maya a baby, with a "who's the daddy" paternity story, was also gross.

We had a similar story years ago with Kelly Windsor and her teacher (I think his name was Tom Bainbridge) and I don't think we ever saw them in the same situations as Jacob and Maya.

David will leave the show after 17 years has been confirmed for weeks and there is a new rumor that there might be a fling coming up for Jacob & Victoria.. Like what to the actual hell?

I just can‘t anymore. It’s so hard to like Emmerdale these days.

Congratulations to Djokovic. You all know, that I am far from a fan, but this is quite an achievement for him.
It’s no knock on him but the men’s game holds no lustre for me at this time. It’s just a lot of the same. We get a peek at a few new stars with the potential to energize the game and they all land the same way. There is little appeal to me. I may not care for all aspects of the women’s game but at least I get the sense that there are more than one or two possibilities for finalists and champions. There is a diversity of winners in the women’s game that is missing from men’s tennis. The men’s game feels very much stalled and I find myself mostly disinterested right now.

  4. No comment about Djokovic's record-equalling title win yesterday? His win meant that he's now tied with Margaret Court at 24 singles titles in the GS-tournaments. Funny that he achieved that tie exactly 50 years after Court's last title victory in the 1973 US Open.

  5. Congratulations to Coco Gauff!   👏

Sabalenka is a very one-note player though. She made no attempt to change anything even though her play obviously failed her today, especially her forehand. She just kept hitting as hard as she could....

I suppose there was also Sharon Crossthwaite, although that was early on.

You're absolutely right. I completely forgot about Sharon. I'm not sure they were very clear about her being raped, I think it was more implied (I could be wrong, its been a while since I watched those very early episodes), but nevertheless it happened. But it was a very rare occurrence for the show to deal with rape. I think it remained that way long into the 2000s actually.

Lydia got raped.. Yay.. ANOTHER Rape storyline. I know rape happens in real life so much but do we have to have one on ED like nearly every year. Poor Lydia.. :(

One of the signs that it's all about plot, plot and plot nowadays. I think there was only one (!) story about rape for the first twenty years of the show, and that wasn't even shown on screen, just talked about after it happened. And that was when Wendy Hotson was raped in early 1979.
