Hey, better late than never! (Or pregnant, as Blanche would say....)

I definitely don’t agree. The writers who damaged this show were Dena Higley, Hogan Sheffer, Gary Tomlin, Christopher Whitesell, Marlene McPherson, Darrell Thomas, and Josh Griffith. Those who wrote Days similarly to JER such as Sally Sussman, Tom Langan, Peter Brash and Paula Cwikly, and Ron Carlivati kept the show compelling. Ron’s writing has been a return to form after a decade of nonsense and destruction.
JER wrote an exciting and interesting Days. In fact, NBC had the best soap lineup of the 90s with Days, Sunset Beach, and Passions (as far as I’m concerned, Passions is the greatest soap opera of all time). You must understand that JER is *the* definitive Days writer for an entire generation. He wrote the show properly. I remember reading SOD back when I had a subscription and seeing that soaps like GL, ATWT, AW, GH, and AMC were terribly boring.
The highlighted sentence is the reason why you and I will never agree on this subject.

What the JER hater fails to recognize is that he brought the show’s ratings up, up, up. Thanks to the possession Days was the only soap whose ratings increased during the OJ trial. Then, two years later, JER brought Days such high ratings on the strength of the Kristen/Susan/John/Marlena story that it nearly defeated Y&R as the number one soap. In fact, JER’s Days was so successful that NBC rewarded him with his own soap, Passions.
True, he brought the ratings up. But the long-term damage his writing did to Days was greater than his short-term ratings gain.

He won't write for Taylor, but he's got Sheila doing literally the same sh*t since 2021 and she gets a romance to boot
It's crazy. Sheila is so played out. Her main rivalry was always with Stephanie, and without her around Sheila really has no purpose. Her connection to Finn just feels like a desperate attempt by Brad Bell to try and keep Sheila relevant.

Very odd decision. I can't say I was completely won over by Krista Allen's version of Taylor, but the character definitely has a place on the show.

Wow, this is a shock. I don't think anyone have missed how I feel about the Dingles, but those feelings only apply to the fictional characters, not the actors. Steve was a fine actor, and he has been a part of Emmerdale for a long time. I wish all the best to his family and friends. It's always hard to lose a loved one.

Today we celebrate Saint Lucy's day here in Sweden.

Yes, Sheila was iconic..... But then Brad Bell did what other writers have also done with their villains, he took her too far. Now it makes no sense at all that any of Sheila's victims would accept her in their life in any way. She may have been cleared of the criminal charges against her, but that doesn't mean that Steffy, Finn, Li, Eric, Brooke or anyone else that Sheila has hurt has to accept her as a part of their lives.

Wow, I was sure she had already received a lifetime achievement award! I mean, it's Susan Lucci!!

If John McCook is really exiting, they should try to bring back the original Felicia.
I would be okay with either Colleen Dion or Lesli Kay, just as long as Felicia appears. Same with Rick. Either Jacob Young or Justin Torkildsen would be fine. But preferably not Kyle Lowder....

My fear is that we'll have to create some sort of "underground railroad" for women who need abortions.
It's insane that this is even a topic for discussion in 2023!!

Melchior is hardcore MAGA…Brad would be insane to bring her back.
Well, she was not a very memorable Kristen, so I would be fine with a recast.....

Who cares about this when there's no news about Kristen, Felicia or Rick coming home to visit?

I'm a little surprised that B&B this far into its run, and having reached as high as #3, still has a lower clearance (94%) than most of the other shows.

If you want satire and comedy then "Soap" would be a better choice than "Passions"
