  1. Can someone shed some more light for me on Curt Dawson's Peter character? I know he had a romance with Holly, but I've read some of story there about Peter having a secret past with some woman and killed her sister by accident but ended up getting engaged again to this same woman again with his 1980 exit. It all sounded rather strange.

In 1977, Rita was pursued by Peter Chapman, but she pushed him away and he turned to Holly. In 1978, Peter and Holly's happiness was threatened by his guilt for not saving a drowning girl, Linnette Waterman in Santo Domingo where he was engaged to her sister, Maya. Peter returned to SD, found peace and reconciled with Maya, but she felt out of place in Springfield and left him. By the way, they filmed the underwater scenes of Peter in Nassau, the first underwater scenes ever on a soap. By 1980, Holly and Peter reconciled, but she ended their engagement when she left town and he reconciled with Maya and returned to Santo Domingo.

  2. I was thinking about all of the characters written out between 1980-1985 and I was shocked at how many and who they were. I included characters who left because of the actor.

    Roger and Holly-1980

Rita, MH Ed, Diane and Elizabeth-1981

    Jackie, Carrie-1982

Justin, Sara, Ben, Eve, Amanda, Jennifer, Bill, Hope, Adam-1983

    Bert, PS Ed, Mike, Hillary-1984

Quint, Nola, Annabelle, Tony, Katie, Floyd, Trish-1985.

    Did I miss anyone?

And I have to say the fact that so many important vets and characters/actors who brought so much were dismissed is sad. Justin, Jackie, Elizabeth and Sara could have been played for years in ongoing stories. The Stapleton sisters aways intrigued me. And all of the Bauers written out is just sad.

  3. I would love that and maybe someday that would be online. Anything that get puts out needs good sales so we're in a niche market with niche stories/couples/characters and it gets a little tricky. What I would personally like to see (the oldest available material, characters like John Dixon, Mike Bauer) may not be the thing that gets the level of sales needed to make money. And if something doesn't sell it slows down the process for anything else in the future. Hopefully that made sense. This entire thing has been a great feeling out of the market and so far has exceeded expectations.

Thanks again Roger. I like how your willing to talk to us about this. I really appreciate you and SoapClassics for all you'll are doing.

  4. Thanks again Roger! I have loved what you guys are doing and I was previously more into the ABC soaps but familiar with ATWT and GL. I have loved most of the released episodes.

I have to ask though, are there any plans to get anything more from the Willows storyline with Lisa? I would love to see the episode where Lisa faces off with Hester at the mansion from 1979. I was so grateful to be able to see the one episode from that storyline on the 20 episode set.

  5. Thank you SO MUCH for putting that picture up. I would love to that episode. There is so little available of early OLTL and it seems to be the only soap in which that is the case.

I was also wondering if there was a photo of Larry and Meredith's wedding. I have never found one.

  6. Thanks Matt and Carl! I know I read in the Soapcentral Bert Bauer profile that she and Bill moved to Springfield and only knew the Frazier couple, but I was curious because Robin and other characters were still on into 1967.

Also, does anyone know the exact year Sara married Joe Werner? I have heard from several places it was either December 1970 or 1971but their all different.

  7. Schnessel's last big story was Mendorra, he left shortly after that. From his era, it was only the Tina, Viki and Buchanan stories that would go on to be remembered because they were the center of the show, I think it was more balanced out with O'Shea.

  8. Some recurring questions I have:

--Why did the show end up blowing Jacqueline Courtney's return so badly in 1984 even after gaining a good amount of viewers back?

--Why did so many pivotal characters end up dead(Julia, Sally, Frankie etc.)

--What was the Alice and Rachel interaction like during the Harney years? I remember reading Rachel played a small role in the Beatrice Gordon story trying to tarnish Alice as a person while Rachel was off with that art sculptor teacher who was supposedly a very boring character.

I was wondering why they wasted Jacqueline Courtney too. There was so much potential there storyline-wise for so many characters and the only story she had was being a doctor and falling for Mark and even that barely played out. The same went for 1989, that would have been another great chance to bring her back. I really wish she had returned to either One Life or AW.

  9. God forgive me for lol'ing at this, but I only did because that is not the first time I have read someone make that comment about EH's acting. The fact is, she did struggle with alcoholism. I do not know if and how that manifest itself onscreen. She also trained at the Actors Studio in the golden age and she has a certain physical style that a lot of those actors had. EH's gestures are reminiscent of Geraldine Page's in particular.

. I wonder if thatgs why she left in 1980. She said she left for her own health and I have seen a May 1980 clip of Carla as well, when I compare her work there to her work in 1983 and 1984, its just completely different.
  10. I just seems extremely random to bring Giles Morgan back to hold Clint and Echo hostage, he has no history with them. I think Kim Zimmer was married to the actor who played him though. Despjte that, it just made no sense. I think Pat was just about to leave around that time and he also knew Samantha, Dorian and Viki.

  11. Rauch must have gotten rid of Will and Samantha then. I know he took over in the summer of 1984 which I think is when all that happened. I have got to say I am happy Larry made it though. OLTL seems to be the worst soap when it comes to keeping long-term characters, usually through their own fault.

  12. Thanks again Carl. I love reading these. The scenes of Jenny breaking down after losing so many of her closest loved ones sounds great too.

I do agree with Eric. With the Buchanans and Delila coming in, we lost Katrina, Karen, Will, Ina, etc. Obviously, they all weren't by choice, but 1985 saw almost an entirely different cast.
