  1. Yeah she eloped with Jack. They were only married for a couple of months. After the rape Peggy couldn't bring herself to have sex with Jack. He was patient to a point but pretty much raped her as well and she divorced him, pretty dark stuff. She almost married Steve Williams just before she left the show, but ran out on him. Not sure if it was on the wedding day or just before
  2. I guess it was the times too. Though with women's lib and est I am surprised he didn't do more of a "start by changing how you feel about the inside and it will reflect the beauty on the outside" I think both the stories done could have had a little more depth, though from what I have read about the Joann/Jack story, Brock was building Joann's self esteem and Joann was pretty honest about her emotional feelings about her marriage and self. Jack was a douche though by the sounds of it, both women were better off without him.
  3. I only know Bruce was a doctor and Liz's brother. He came to GC when Liz had ovarian cancer (possibly it was uterine cancer) The Henderson's were listed as a main family in pre-show press, not sure if that was a mistake or not. I am assuming the character was from GC originally because of the affair with Jennifer. Not sure how long he stayed but I believe while Jennifer was touring with Leslie on her first concert tour around 1973, Jennifer and Bruce were hooking up. I think he lived with his family in Chicago. I am more interested in his wife listed only as Ma Henderson. Can't even figure what she did on the show.
  4. As far as I can tell that 1982 episode (thanks for posting btw) is from the first week of May, maybe May 5th at a guess. I also believe Thom Bierdz and Kate Linder were friends with Brenda. Beth Maitland was pretty forward about Brenda in a recent interview. Brenda talk starts at 22:15 mark.
  5. Yeah so true. The scene of Jack confronting Victor about what he plans to do with Jabot. Lester I think is chewing gum and just seems like a kid who is trying to piss someone off and get in trouble. I can't say I understand what his problem really was, he stated Sally Sussman was the driving force in keeping the Abbott's in the scripts and once Bell moved to California and Sally headed for Generations, the Abbotts were minimised. I don't see it. They seem very much in the forefront. Jack had been on air since July 1980. Nine years is a long time to keep a character constantly in the forefront.
  6. Possibly. I was a kid when this aired, but judging by synopsis from that week and the following Jack is not mentioned anywhere after his scene with Brad and in fact the family are shocked that Jack just took off. It seems like a very Jack thing to do (when Lester was in the role) and there was no love lost between Bell and Lester the last six months of the show (something Bill Bell admitted to in an interview with SOD at the time). So I doubt he got some big send off or emotional goodbyes, Bell admitted when Lester announced his departure he lost interest in the character. I can confirm Lester's last tape date was Aug 17th 1989 and he began airing on SB Sep 25th 1989.
  7. So from what I have read this appears to be Terry Lester's last episode. Thanks for posting
  8. John McCook came on to Y&R Oct 1975 while Janice Lynde was in the role. Janice departed Jan 1977 while Leslie and Brad were still married, Victoria began playing Leslie almost the next day. Tom Hallick left in Apr 1978 ( so yes Tom and Victoria were on screen together) Leslie got pregnant by Lance in 1978 while John and Victoria were in the roles. John McCook left in Feb 1980 (he returned briefly in May 1980) and Dennis Cole took over around Feb 1981.
  9. From what I remember. Nikki had a porn tape circulating (Boobsie Caswell was the body, they somehow used Nikki's face) Tony owned the master of the tape and Alison Bancroft was blackmailing her with it to get custody of Victoria, or something to that effect. Nikki married Tony solely to get the tape. The Paul story was separate, they just all collided on the night of Nikki's marriage to Tony which I think aired Sep 2nd 1983, incidentally this was when Brenda Dickson returned to the show around Sep 2nd or 5th.
  10. They got pretty close to it Chris certainly didn't totally discourage him. In fact I think if Chris had been kept on she would have been one of his conquests.
  11. Chris does look like she is getting married. She says I do and has a man in a suit standing next to her. Must have been some sort of wedding layout maybe and it reminded her of Snapper. It may have been why she chose to quit Jabot and head to England.
  12. I believe the Kay scene was before she tried to stop Jill. Liz was trying to talk her out of it and Kay had memories of Phillip, that is why she is crying and she resolves to send the transcript of the court case Jill brought against the Chancellor estate in 1976 to John. The court case made Jill look like a gold digging slut. Kay won and Phillip became a Foster.
  13. Thanks Carl for that. I am always amazed that Y&R was able to get such great performances from such a young and inexperienced cast. Much was always made of the youth and beauty of the show, and while none of the 70's cast picked up Emmys™ I have never heard bad things about them as actors. What little I have seen seems to back that up.
  14. This is the only pic I have seen, it is from their wedding which aired the week of Jan 4th 1988, I believe both of them last aired Dec 2nd 1988 and Brenda came on the following Monday, anyone who can verify?
  15. Thanks for that, some more dates of interest....... Bethel's first shows started the week of Nov 15th 1965 according to interviews in papers at the time. Elizabeth Hubbard joined in Aug 1964 The cast did a walk out on Nov 17th 1966 ( some sort of union issue? Carson didn't tape that day either) Anyone know what this was about? Yeah the papers of the day all started listing The Doctors as being in colour from about Oct 1966, so that makes sense.
  16. I also wanted to know if anyone else was aware that Eve Howard and Rick Daros met in 1984. After Nikki and Victor's wedding. Rick was brought to the mental institution Eve was committed to, he had been found with amnesia. They broke out and headed to Victor's, they stole credit cards and left for Germany to find her son. Apparently Nikki saw Rick at the airport on her way back from her honeymoon to Victor and freaked but he convinced her it was just someone who looked like him. I wonder if Bell remembered doing this when Eve returned years later. There was no mention of him when she returned with Cole I don't think.
  17. Peggy was on until maybe Sep/Oct 1981. After the cult story she was to wed Steve Williams but stood him up, she had a flirtation with Jack (not sure if they hit the sheets) Not sure if she got a proper send off but after Steve left town Peggy didn't do much. Jerry Lacy was similar the character just stopped airing, he said his last air date was Dec 15th 1981 but his character never had a send off. Greg seemed to be most active under Wings Hauser, odd they replaced him with Howard McGillan, not only was he the youngest to play Greg and Wings was the oldest, but Wings looked much older than the other Greg's and Howard looked too young, would be curious to see the switch as apparently Wings was off the show by Oct/Nov 81 and Howard was on within the month, must have been a big shock to viewers to have Greg change so much physically.
  18. Sweet I will go hunting for that. Sounds like a book I should have. Ahh thanks for the info. Clears it up. At least back then they were trying different things in daytime.
  19. Totally agree. Power was the wrong word, she seemed like his equal not some sad woman pinning away for him. It was mature and respectful. Yes the styling on most shows in the late 70's and early to mid eighties was great. A good mixture of understated class, the 70's had this slight nod to 40's style with a modern twist which I like and seemed to disappear around 1984. Even Dynasty had better styling in its first couple of years. JLB wanted to leave Y&R since 79/80, she stayed longer than she intended and I don't think anything was going to keep her from leaving. She really was a main focal point and it must have been exhausting once the show went to an hour. Even during her pregnancy in 1980 she was still featured quite a bit. I do wonder if Bell wanted to keep Leslie/Victoria. She was on until Dec 1982 (I think possibly her last air date was the very last week of the year) and had that story with Robert after JLB left, though she seemed totally isolated to that story, he seem to make no real effort to integrate her into the rest of the evolving show. Was Bell testing the waters or was Victoria on contract until Dec and he had to write something for her and needed some way to use Robert as well. Hard to tell. Greg, Lucas, Lorie and Chris were all off by Aug/Sep why did he keep Leslie on a few months longer?
  20. I am curious about The Doctors going from self-contained stories to the more serialised format. Wiki states When it first aired in 1963 as an anthology, it did so for a trial run with self-contained episodes about medical emergencies. When the show was brought back in 1964, the show finally adopted a serial form of storytelling. This seems to suggest the show was off air for a period of time. Anyone know if this is the case and how long it was off air?
  21. Haha, crazy but true. I guess after seeing all these Lorie clips it is particularly painful to see it happen to Lorie.
  22. Thanks Alphanguy74 thanks so much for the Lorie clips. I can see why JLB was so important to the show, she really had a presence and great chemistry with the cast. Victoria Mallory's performances have so much quiet dignity and strength when it is needed. KT Stevens was so evil as Vanessa. I can't imagine watching Vanessa and Lorie go at it for 5 + years and then have it end that way. Watching Vanessa think about destroying Lorie was amazing, her hatred for Lorie was so intense. JLB sometimes went OTT, I think it worked well in the first clip with Stuart (btw those scenes were from around Nov 76) but I found it too much in the scenes with Leslie when Lorie discovers her sister is carrying her husbands baby. JLB's 2002 return always annoyed me. I hadn't seen any of her Lorie but something felt off, now I see what it is. They completely stripped the character of her dignity to prop Victor. You can see Lorie enjoyed Victor's company but she also threw him under a bus to help the man she always truly loved, Lance Prentiss. Victor was a means to an end. The balance of power was always with Lorie, even in 1984 for the short scenes she had with him.
  23. Snapper didn't technically go on trial. The charges were dropped due to lack of evidence, but the hospital board had a hearing to determine if Snapper could keep his job. They wanted him to admit to wrong doing, Greg and Snapper presented a case for euthanasia instead. The board dismissed him from the hospital, that's when he opened his own clinic. Bill died Nov 76 and Jennifer Sep 77.
  24. Oh no. I lost my password and haven't been able to get on the boards for weeks, lol, thanks to Toups for solving that dilema. I totally missed all the episodes (except the one on YT) If they come back up any chance I could get in on it, haha. Really wanna see this show. I love the more modern production compared to other soaps of the time. The music and writing is so sophisticated. Elizabeth Hubbard looks amazing, like a movie star of the day, she has a sophisticated air to her. I really like the performances too. NBC had three great soaps on in the 60's and 70's. What an amazing line up. Hopefully one day we can see all three from that era. As far as the episodes being in colour. I looked up a few newspaper articles, apparently the show went colour around Oct 1966. Makes sense as Days started in colour in Nov 1965 and Another World went colour I think Jun 1966. NBC News went all colour in 1966 too.
