The perfect spot was when Sonny had no memory. I could easily see Brenda as the person that found him, and he remembers her (of course), maybe she was doing a benefit of some kind in that town and stopped at the bar. Of course, he does not remember Carly or his kids beyond an impression. And this drives Nina to her lowest point, which begins her turn towards the Annie dark side I have been craving all along. You get Brenda at Deception and her and Lucy going after Nina’s company. Sonny working to regain his memories/kids while dealing with his feelings for Brenda/Carly/Nina. And we get Nina being a major villain for a year or so. Anyway, I cannot imagine Brenda without VM. But Frank recast Marty Saybrooke, which was very questionable.

I wonder what they offered. I totally understand her not wanting to return, just curious if she was offered short or long term, guest, contract, etc? If I was any of these bts soap people, after enduring her previous short returns, I would not offer her less than two years anyway. Long enough for a good story.

Their contracts being so short are what surprises me. Although I truthfully do not see a huge place for them beyond the point they actually leave the show, they needed a break for a couple of years to let Brenda and other characters breathe. I think it would have diminished the later stories with Stone to have Jagger be a larger focus. Their reunion episodes were just the right amount. Now if PC had started with Jagger and Karen played by their original actors it would have made me a more consistent viewer. I loved both Brenda and Karen, one of the few times I truly enjoyed both parts of a triangle or rivalry equally.

I am having fun watching, loving Trina/Spencer and Laura as the hub. But I could live without ever having another Ice Princess storyline again. The last cool thing that I can remember about that diamond was when it was revealed Luke had access to it for years, and would routinely use pieces of it to fund his adventures. The necklace would only interest me if it was hanging from a murder victim’s neck, preferably either Willow (unless she’s been faking!) or Sasha. I will also take this moment to complain that if we are going to dig into classic Spencer/Scorpio stories, I really need to see Lucky, Lulu, and Robin.

Once Willow has had her comeuppance, can we use that as motivation for Watros to go full Annie on the town? I am fully on board for Willow has been faking the whole time. Talk about floptina to icon immediately.

Only when someone was getting a divorce! Then it was all they could talk about. That’s how Lucy got her tiny share. That is what happened- the best way to describe it is just like you did- hijinks at the spa. Was Luke undercover as an old man? It was pretty stupid but lead right into Damian’s murder.

Hey now. She’s still squinting, that’s how we know she dying. Which is very similar to my childhood acting when I was faking being sick.

50TH DAYTIME EMMYS (2023) Any Guesses?

This is a man that described Anna as frumpy, which lead to her tying him shirtless to a pillar to prove she could still turn him on. He’s always been kind of a dick.

My last memories of Damian are related to Lucky’s gambling. He ended up in debt to Damian. And Luke going undercover to find him. That Damian murder mystery was such a great story. The reading of the will was such awesome soapy fun. Then Laura’s trial. I also though Justus being the killer and Edward trying to keep it covered up was great. They just didn’t really do anything with Justus after that. I am also here for Angie Hubbard. Any day.

I also remember reading that Stuart was going to have a bigger part to play in the anniversary but was not up to it heath-wise. And his episode showed that. I also forgot all about Carly siding with Todd. So not in character. I really miss Tea and I would never force Sonny on her. I remember Damian being involved in lots of stuff, but more of an annoyance until the last few months. And as far as Katherine goes, I think her original death should have been the end of the character. I get that back then, letting Luke/Alexis kill someone innocent, even by accident, was not going to fly. Riche was still there and overall protecting the characters from going to far. Just a few years later and there would have been no issue with Luke killing Katherine.

I have a feeling it was all Gloria, and that she wanted to just move on. IIRC, the first mention onscreen was by Steve Hardy during the 30th anniversary episode. Before that her death and character were just ignored.

Roles that Suffered After 3 or More Recasts
After re-watching the pre-possession Reilly run on DAYS, her Kristen was pretty soft and emotive until she starts to go into scheming mode, and then outright villainy. She doesn’t come across as harsh or as blunt as she did later on DAYS or after her return to Y&R. And to me it was more like haughty than truly harsh.

What does using history mean to you?
I think Ashley’s paternity was wonderfully played by Bell. Even if his intent was that it never should be revealed, especially to John, we know and Ashley knows, and it informs her character’s vulnerability. It didn’t need to be revealed to accomplish the greater characterization that it lead to. It wasn’t done just to create a secret to be revealed.

It was intentional. Suggested by her son IIRC.

If she is doing anything, she learned her lesson and it’s subtle. At one point she did something that was so distracting she admitted to it and said she promised she wouldn’t do that again. Maybe about a decade ago? Frank was there, because she said she promised him she wouldn’t do it again. Truthfully, at her core the one trait I think of when I think of Alexis is exasperation. So your description works, mean or not. Remember when Alexis had actual sparring partners? I miss that.

She and Laura both are suffering in poor pairings, but the actors are happy so it’s not going to change. Maybe we will luck out and JPS will be too busy to continue. Maybe we could get a decent recast. Also- I am happy that Anna is not with Finn. So be careful what you wish for I guess.

It’s hard to take him even remotely seriously. I think if Laura slapped him now he would fall to the floor.

Linc should have been murdered, Brooklyn is standing over the body and is accused. At first Chase thinks she did it because her trauma response seems like her usual lying. He decides to tell her he knows she did it and that he will help her cover it up. Except it wasn’t her, this pisses her off, and she decides to hire Sam and Felicia to find the real killer. And tells Chase to kick rocks. She gets some of her spunk back, and now Chase has to prove himself as a cop and as worthy of her by also solving the murder. If they are going to keep them apart at least flip the script and make him forlorn and ashamed!
