  1. I can now take Alan and Georgie off his list of bad decisions. My only concerns with this news is that those are hands that know how to steer a soap, but they have to be surrounded by newer talent too. Otherwise it’s not going to work, because folks like Guza and Carruthers presided over nothing but decline. I want this show to soar! And the unnamed writer is to be Mulcahey, right?
  2. And on Twitter Michele Val Jean replied to a comment about Guza and Georgie that they were on strike and Guza’s team didn’t kill Georgie. So he didn’t want to off Alan or Georgie? Interesting.
  3. Pretty sure she was fine with him when they visited right before Stone died, and again when the part was recast for Port Charles. There is a layer of misogyny attached to the way Jagger is behaving about Karen. Like he needs to protect his little lady for her own good, no matter what she wants or even if she is alive anymore. Sure it was the writing, but Karen didn’t turn Sonny in. And this was back when he was low level mob. Two/more things can be true at once- the writing for Anna was atrocious. Sonny is scum. However, Jagger has not been portrayed this entire run as heroic or as a stand up character. He is also still as stupid as he was back then. He openly flirted with Carly when he knew what he was holding over Jason. He was close to railroading Anna on sloppy email evidence. Defending him like he has remotely been a good guy or is simply doing his job is whack. Yes!
  4. This also makes Jason look like a chump. It’s just over, and he spent years trying to keep her from being caught, and instead she went to court and it’s just resolved? If I was his kids I would be livid. Perfect place for Sam to light into both of them. And as far as Valentin goes- he was the one that started messing with Sonny’s meds in the first place! The actor isn’t even on contract, hasn’t been, and he is being treated better than contract players. Protecting characters that largely are not working is destroying the show. The correct decisions were made with Finn, Austin, Gregory, and I thought Valentin. Before Mulcahey I would have lumped Nina and Drewin there too, but he did bring some life to them.
  5. I don’t think I have seen a show unravel this slowly and so completely over such an extended time. Heads used to roll much quicker in the EP position than this. Is this how people felt during the last year of Tom Donovan with the invasion of the Webbers? I was watching Monty’s second run through the transition to Riche and that was way more smooth than the last year of GH, and almost everything was public about the bts transition/troubles. Maybe Rauch and Labine on GL? The public knew she was fired and then rehired because nobody else wanted the job, and that they were ultimately not a good fit and that he was still working to replace her. And Rauch was not easy to get along with, yet somehow managed in these circumstances to still produce her material without sabotaging it.
  6. You could have warned us/reminded me that immediately after was a scene with Courtney!
  7. Back in the day Jason did it because Michael was more his concern than Carly, and her impulsiveness had created problems over and over again. Plus he loved Robin. The real reason back then was Burton fought it at every turn, until he gave in just a little to give his exit story more oomph (Jason shot doing Sonny’s business while Sonny and Carly had sex for the first time). I wish I had saved my old soap mags because I remember Burton being asked about Carly/Jason and he basically said Jason would never be with someone like Carly. This was when Robin was still in the picture though, but only away at school. KMc had not fully quit yet. When the PC hotel was on fire, he kissed TB’s version. I don’t remember anything romantic with LW’s Carly until he was again headed out the door and they thought Sonny was dead. Laura Wright has always leaned heavily into the closeness and how much Carly needs Jason, which is pretty true to how SJB played her.
  8. Valentini leaving seems like wishful thinking right now. I think we will have a better view once Mulcahey is out of the credits and the new team is named. This has been such a strange year. I hope anyone that would replace Valentini is not someone that is older. They need to be working on tomorrow, not yesterday.
  9. This is the same lobby Carly had at least one physical fight in with Kate. I feel like some slapping may have also occurred there. This was very on brand for that lobby!
  10. Tabyana Ali’s guest piece on Deadline https://deadline.com/2024/07/general-hospital-tabyana-ali-breaks-silence-online-trolls-1236018307/
  11. Even that was pretty mild compared to what happened to Carly, Alexis, Liz, Sam. Tracy chased deadbeat Luke around, Anna became an Eli Love groupie, Laura a wig on a stick. Not a great time for women on a show that should have known better. But look at today? Not much better, if not worse for writing marginalized folks.
  12. What woman wasn’t subjected to misogynistic writing during Guza’s entire last stint, with or without Pratt? Maybe Robin escaped the worst of it while still being subjected to it?
  13. I forgot he was involved with Nina. Ric was my favorite pairing for Alexis because they had crackling chemistry and both knew how to sell it.
  14. I love Rick Hearst, happy to see him again.
  15. We all know the only stunt casting that might move the needle, and it’s Vanessa.
  16. This was ridiculous and also vile. For both of those characters to say the worst thing about all this was Natalia’s privacy being violated is just disgusting.
  17. I knew she was going to be propped as soon as all the Sonny scenes started. Who knew it was going to go this badly? And I have no problem with Eva. It’s the show. I hesitate to even blame the writing, because the way this is going screams Valentini interference to me.
  18. Perez Hilton was bad enough. Then you add on propping like I have not seen. Jesus this show and the person running it. It is not the audience’s fault that Sonny doesn’t have a woman right now and you are desperate to keep Natalia to have someone for him to flirt with. She is absolutely worse than Ava in this situation. Instead of doing the work to have her come around and learn, they just want us to forget she was the homophobe in the first place! They have got to stop taking the wrong step every time. Whatever is compelling them to do this has to go. I don’t think I have ever seen GH fans hate every story they are telling consistently right now- Heather, Jason/Carly, and Natalia’s fallout.
  19. This defending of Cates is wild to me. He has shown a personal vendetta from 30 years ago that neither Karen nor Stone would support is more important than his job. He is protecting a criminal instead of charging them (Carly) to use that to blackmail another person who may be a criminal but Cates doesn’t have any proof on (Jason). He is stupid enough to fall for what Ava is dishing out even though there is plenty of information out there about her crimes. He fell for Valentin’s attempt to frame Anna without a second thought. I don’t like Anna letting Valentin off or most of her behavior in this story. But Cates is a dead end and also equally wrong/compromised if not moreso.
  20. Watching Ava work Jagger is fun. The things they got right with the original Jagger and this one- he was always a hothead and not smart. Even though I have been sick of Carly for close to 20 years, I am happy to see LW playing Carly again, and not some pod person that is everyone’s best friend. The only thing missing is she could also be quite dangerous, and I haven’t seen that just yet. What was with the Luke stuff? I believe there was recently a photo of Geary in the US visiting. Makes me wonder.
  21. Without a doubt. I’m just saying I see the possibility that she brings the info to Frons and backs his ultimate decision. I could easily see her with pages from a focus group and a list of actors that could go for a sweeps stunt and the budget to pay for said stunts. And at that time I would bet Stuart Damon had a pretty solid contract. I’m talking when Jean and Shelly took over after Ron. I thought Wolf was boring af, and those two were a close second.
  22. I don’t think Bob was the deciding factor against Genie Francis. While he did not focus on her like he did during his first run, (Laura on trial for murder, Nikolas reveal) some of that had to do with her own feelings at the time and having one foot out the door back at home with her family. They also stalled out about Lucky, and had her mourning forever while he focused on his greater story- breaking up Luke & Laura. When he and Pratt took over in 2002, the umbrella story they wanted to tell was focused once again on Laura. The bts stuff with JFP and ABC killed whatever that original plan was (and the rumors are horrible, but it would still have been incredibly acted by Genie, Denise, and Tony). Due to the way she behaved, I also think Jill was behind getting rid of Becky Herbst. Vee is correct that Pratt and Guza were named consulting producers, but Jill did still have some power where things like the budget were concerned, and that allowed her to take players off the board even if he wanted them. Stuart Damon being one (MVJ confirmed that Guza did not want to kill Alan). What happened with both Genie and Vanessa in 2002 fits a pattern that we saw Jill do on both GL and OLTL to women. And Garin Wolf wrote the most boring version of this show ever, until Passanante got there as HW.
  23. I see Sonny is back to imploding. Carly said Sonny and Jason so many times in such a short amount of time I almost thought it was 2006 again. Anna should have known how this was going to end up. Also as the meds Valentin tampered with come back into focus I am reminded again about how sloppy the plotting is on this show. Another wasted detail just to keep Valentin from the conclusion he was headed towards. If they actually go to court about these custody issues this really will feel like the Guza days. Bob Guza loved a trial involving Sonny or his circle of characters.
