I was thinking a baby switch would happen between BrookLynn and Maxie, but knowing the truth about BrookLynn, I am now wondering if Maxie and BrookLynn are going to put their heads together and have Maxie's baby pose as BrookLynn to keep the baby away from Peter.

I think so, pretty sure Olivia may be involved too as there must be a reason why it was she of all people who overheard Maxie pouring her heart out at Nathan's grave. Plus Olivia has experience with both of her children lol.

From the 1976 portion of the 1975 thread

Jeff and Rick Webber had a sister?!? What happened to her?

Also, in hindsight, wasn't silly that Rick was the hotter brother to Monica?  I guess the heart wants what it wants, but Jeff was so much cuter.

Terri was the eldest Webber sibling. She was a widow who was paired off with Dr Mark Dante (played by Gerald Gordon from The Doctors), but he had a mentally ill wife Mary Ellen (Mellie) who was in an institution. Long story short, Mellie was released from the institution and tried to kill Terri by getting her chauffeur to tamper with the brakes of Terri's car. Terri survived the resulting car crash and left town in the aftermath and Mellie was re-institutionalized.

Terri's other main contribution to the show was after Jeff shot himself in the head due to his failing marriage to Monica etc. Terri told Steve Hardy about the existence of a letter from Helene Webber (Terri, Rick and Jeff's mother) and this letter revealed Jeff's true paternity (that Steve, not Lars Webber was Jeff's father).

A very scary thought just came to my head, because I had forgotten that biological connection...

I’ve heard on these boards (not sure if fully substantiated though) that Alexis is meant to be meeting someone very important in jail. What if that someone is Steven Webber - but now being played by Roger Howarth?

Oh gawd I hope not, it'd just be too weird for RH & RH to go from spouses (albeit with a brother in common lol) to siblings on the same damn show!

Perhaps it is Shawn that Alexis meets.

Previously it was 11 back in 2013 (March 13th-March 29th).

Aha! I had a feeling it was that particular period. I actually remember Sonny being off the show for two weeks while it focused on Lulu's kidnapping. And then he came back just before the 50th anniversary episode for the storyline involving Brenda's brief return.

    Cheers again :)

Liz just lost her love in a tragic murder - she needs her family around her, and who better than her big brother?

And of course, Steven was actually Franco's big brother too lol - i don't know whether that has been acknowledged on the show since that storyline with Hayden's mother and Heather Webber.

I'm also happy that Shawn is coming back. I always liked him.

A little bit of trivia: Sonny did not appear in 13 consecutive episodes from February 19th to March 9th, this is the longest gap in appearances in the 21 years of data I have collected so far.

Yep, I certainly did notice and was wondering about that.

What was the second longest gap? Was it sometime during Ron Carlivati's tenure?

    Cheers for the counts :)

It's a funny thing about Hope and Jennifer, they were often given dialogue about being cousins, but it is difficult to recall scenes that demonstrated their friendship.  For example, I don't recall Jen helping Hope when she got addicted to sleeping pills (aka nighttime Hope), or Hope intervening when Jen began drink too much.  When they were single each would warn the other about potential bad boyfriends.  However, it is a shame that they were never given a story where they solved a mystery together, or saved each other from harm, or teamed up against a villain.  Jennifer and Carly had that type of friendship, but she and Hope were really a missed opportunity.

Post Nighttime Hope, Jennifer (who'd been away for several years except for a brief appearance at Alice's funeral) returned to Salem and reached out to Hope who was incarcerated. Jennifer even got herself a job at the prison after Hope tipped her off about an organ trafficking scheme being operated out of the prison. But that was probably the only time they were involved in a mystery together.

Did they say that Chris had earlier studied to be a lawyer, then put it aside?

Was this a retcon because they needed Chris to be a lawyer for a particular storyline?

    If so, what was it?

If not, then what was the point?

Surely Chris was more useful as a bar or gym owner.

Weird that Chris had relationships with two women named Leslie.

Chris was one of a few long running characters on soaps that never married.

Mickey became a prosecutor in the DA's office at the time, so they may have been trying to establish Chris as Salem's new go-to defence attorney.

Chris represented Kim (for Emma's murder) and Steve (for Duke's murder) before being written out, with Josh Taylor going full time on Valerie/The Hogan Family; previously he'd been doing that show part time while he was still on DAYS.

I could be wrong, but I get the impression Herbert was the true power behind the Qs. Seems like that could have been a good story for Edward.

The Herbert angle does sound interesting and something that should have been more explored. Alas, that's not what's soap became in the late 90s and 00s + ... sigh.

Herbert was actually introduced in 1987 and killed off just as quickly in a murder mystery involving the Qs (including Celia's parents Quentin and Betsy), Robert and Robert's love interest at the time. It looks like it was a weird timing though as Celia had already left the show 18 months prior and yet they had finally introduced her immediate family - well Quentin had recurred when Celia was around but he was recasted for Herbert's murder mystery storyline.

  10. 2 hours ago, Franko said:

Was Celia related to Alexandra Quartermaine?

Celia's dad was Quentin, son of Edward's cousin Herbert. For some reason, I'm thinking Alexandra was another of Herbert's children?

Apparently Alexandria was the daughter of an unseen and unnamed brother of Edward's.

There’s another angle the writers don’t seem to have considered yet with the whole Peter mess... they need to get Frisco back on the action. Firstly because of his role within the WSB (he was heading it last time I remember), not to mention that he is also Maxie’s dad!! If there was anybody who would have a vested interest in protecting Maxie from Peter, it’s Frisco!

Anna did get an angry phone call from Frisco so at least he was acknowledged but I agree they could have done more with Frisco (even if he remained off screen). He could have been in cahoots with Liesl Obrecht to expose Peter but perhaps not fully sware (or turning a blind eye) to her methods of doing so (by brainwashing Dante).

I've often thought that it would be interesting to see Sharon and Jenny onscreen at the same time so I'm glad it's actually happening.

The Baldwins seemed to have had a 'resurgence' (YMMV on quality of writing LOL) around 2001-2007 but they haven't done much at all with them since Mike's on-screen death. Adam Barlow is around and he's hot, so that's nice, LOL. He is Mike's son after all so I like his place on the canvas. Thinking back, they were way too quick to off Susan. I didn't really see the point, it seemed just to be a shock death for the sake of it.

Yeah, killing off Susan and retconning her abortion to create Adam was really just a plot device to stir up some conflict for Ken and Mike for the 5000th episode (and that renewed conflict felt a bit contrived coming so soon after Mike and Ken had finally buried the hatchet during the Freshco seige). That being said, I agree that Adam at least has cemented his place on the show.

GH loved killing their legacy kids. Would've been nice if Nancy and Martha had lived. A teenaged Martha playing a role in the Steven Lars saga. Even going up against Heather. Nancy maybe becoming a nurse like her mom. Becoming jealous of Jessie's friendship with Bobbie. Having romances with Scotty or Jimmy Lee for example. So many missed opportunities.

They even killed off Jane Dawson's daughter Joanne as part of Jane's exit story 🙄. I have a feeling Martha's death was to provide extra motivation for Diana to adopt Steven-Lars, but I think they could have easily kept her and provided another reason for Diana's desire to adopt (I mean, Diana had already tried fostering, but lost custody of her foster child Mike shortly before the hurricane that killed Martha).

    July 66 newspaper summary

Lee called off the engagement with Jessie, manfully telling her she needs Phil now. At the hospital, Dr. Phil Brewer is excited, he has good news about the baby. Dr. Steve isn't so sure this is really a breakthrough, but Phil rushes right over to tell Jessie that "our Nancy" has improved. Lee visits nurse Meg. He's blue. Jessie belongs to Phil now. "They have the baby or their grief in common."

Lost in the midst of time that Jessie was engaged to Lee Baldwin and later married Peter Taylor.

Yeah, basically I believe the story was that Jessie had dumped Phil after suffering a miscarriage; got engaged with Lee, but Phil found out and raped Jessie. Jessie fell pregnant and initially tried to keep it a secret until the divorce. However Phil did find out and called off the divorce. Jessie gave birth to Nancy prematurely, so Lee called off the engagement (see above) but Nancy passed away so Jessie divorced Phil. However, Lee and Jessie did not get back together because he was now in love with Meg.

Jessie then married John Prentice, but he had a terminal illness. After he died, Jessie was put on trial alongside Tom Baldwin. Phil proved that Jessie and Tom were innocent (I think John's daughter Polly had accidentally given him an overdose) and Jessie remarried him. Phil then had an affair with Polly, but she died in a car accident they were in together so Phil left town and was later presumed dead in a plane crash.

Jessie married Peter Taylor, but Phil secretly returned to town and started seeing Diana Maynard. Phil later found out he'd been cleared of responsibility for Polly's death so he went back to Jessie, although he ended up in some sort of accident along the way which left him impotent. Peter and Diana got together and Peter posed as the father of Diana's baby by Phil. Diana had a son named Tracy and when Phil found out he left Jessie (again) and became obsessed with Diana. Eventually Phil realized he wasn't impotent anymore, so he raped Diana. Tracy died and Diana learned she was pregnant by Phil for the second time; Diana eventually gave birth to a daughter, Martha and Phil went off to Nairobi, Kenya.

Peter learned that he wasn't Martha's father, separated from Diana, and started having an affair with Augusta McLeod. Diana agreed to marry a dying patient, Owen Stratton, but he died before Peter and Diana's divorce came through and Peter reunited with Diana. Augusta learned she was pregnant by Peter and lured Phil back from Kenya but of course he ended up murdered. Jessie was initially in the frame for the crime and she and Lee had a 'moment' during this period but nothing came of it as Lee eventually married Caroline Chandler. Diana was put on trial, but it was eventually revealed that Augusta had committed the murder. Augusta eventually gave birth and I don't think Diana ever found out that Peter was the father.

From the little bits. I've seen of Josh. I liked the character. He was used as Frisco's sidekick. Then Mistakenly poisoned by the Asian mob. Who thought he was Frisco.

He was also the songwriter that Blackie plagiarized wasn't he?

Jimmy MacNichol (slated for anywhere between 6-26 weeks on the show)

Ended up lasting 18 months as Josh Clayton in the end (though I don't know whether it was a continuous 18 months or several short runs); got killed off during the Asian Quarter story.
