I never saw her run on Neighbours but what a career.

I wasn;t really watching the show at the time, but I vaguely remember Faye being obsessed with Jim Robinson (Alan Dale) so he and Dorothy Burke (Maggie Dence) pretended to be involved to try and put her off

  2. I remember Sunset Beach had a few issues (Ashley Hamilton being replaced by Eddie Cribrian, Kelly Hu and Adrienne Frantz* being let go etc), and the show ended up doing a flashback week of clip shows about seven months in (August 1997?) to give them an extra week while they retooled. The most notable change they made during the retooling was changing the theme song to something a little bit more upbeat (which IIRC was based on one of the show's already existing musical cues).

And then after a few more departures and recasts there was that murder week at the start of the show's second year, followed by a few new arrivals. After that I think the show mostly stabilized for the rest of its three year run (Shockwave aside, pun intended lol).

*In Frantz's case, her character Tiffany was actually temporarily recast and then written off.

  3. Minor quibble but Nikolai Cassadine being born in 1852 would mean that he was in his 90s when Victor and Tony were born and in his 60s when Mikkos was born, which does not seem very likely for a family obsessed with heirs and spares. Would have been more plausible if they'd said he was born anywhere from about 1880 - 1900.

Alexis also said that Nikolai was the tie between Danny and Charlotte omitting any mention of who Nikolai would've had children with, which makes me wonder if they're trying to further minimize their relation by making Mikkos and Victor the product of different mothers. That would at least explain the seemingly large age gap between Mikkos and his younger brothers if it was like a Bing Crosby type situation.

I think others have said the only period this could have happened is maybe in late '86 or early '87, when Robert was back in Port Charles for a short stint before returning on contract later in '87. What on Earth was Holly getting up to? Was she that bored lol? And of course it doesn't account for Holly's fake 'death' not long after.

Yes, I remember when they went to Robin and she consulted her journal and said that Ethan couldn't be Robert's as he was in Port Charles during that time. I can't remember if they mentioned Mr Big by name, but it was at least strongly implied that it was during that time when Ethan's conception took place. And tbf, I think the GH of 1987 did have Robert and Holly as having serious marital problems, in fact I think it was even said that Holly had cheated on Robert but had decided to work things out with him when she supposedly died. So in my mind it was always somewhat easy to imagine that the man Holly cheated with was Luke, even if I didn't completely buy that Luke would cheat on Laura.

What the 2009 story did ignore though was Holly's presumed death. I think her 1992 return had explained at least some of the years she was dead as being in a coma for a period of time, so there was speculation that Ethan was a coma baby snatched away from Holly, but in the end it was revealed that Holly had given him up willingly with no mention of her presumed death.

am not sure why Tracy was so mad.

I think Tracy was just being her usual insecure self whenever another woman being around Luke was concerned, whether it was Skye, Laura, Holly or Anna. It was pretty much all the writers wrote for her back then, either she was insecure about Luke when some other woman was on the scene or mad at Luke for some scheme he had going.

Didn't John Colicos also come back briefly as either another Cassadine or a random guy who was a Mikkos ringer? Or am I mixing him up with this dude?

Mikkos' cousin Petros I believe, during the Aztec treasure storyline.

Quick question re: these recent classic 1982 episodes. Am I mistaken or was Demi Moore's Jackie originally intended for Luke before they quickly pivoted her to Robert? That would at least be some variety after LNL. It seems insane to me that even Monty at the height of her powers and ego would've seriously believed she could put over a same-name Laura doppelgänger (Laura Templeton) with Tony Geary. Just looking at her in this episode feels wrong. I have no idea what became of Laura #2.

I think you might be at least partially correct.

In any case, I believe Laura #2 ended up falling for Scotty, while being pursued by Blackie and then left town brokenhearted after Scotty married Susan.

I've been meaning to ask this for awhile, but what's the relationship like between Michael and BLQ? I tried to find information on this GH site I use, but it doesn't seem like they're related or have been in a relationship. Since Michael isn't a Q, I've been wondering why he's at the house often (like during the Ronnie story or in today's episode).

Michael and BLQ are second cousins. Michael is AJ Quartermaine's biological child and Brook-Lyn is Ned's.

Question for anyone in the US/UK watching on Prime, did you guys get any kind of special end credits?

To the surprise of nobody, the channel 10 airing just ended abruptly and went straight into Law & Order. I’m wondering if I missed some kind of tribute?

In NZ we just got the regular credits on the black screen (on TVNZ+) and I think thats what they got elsewhere too

Lucas then accidently killed Kendra by running into her car before she could kill Alexis.-

Tbf, it was really Julian who killed Kendra indirectly, as he'd sabotaged Brad's car in the hopes of preventing him from telling all about Wiley being Michael and Nelle's kid but didn't count on Lucas driving the car and crashing it.

    23 hours ago, carolineg said:

I think the whole Kendra thing was tied to Shiloh and Dawn of the Day because everything on the show was back then lol.

yes Kendra was a Dawn of Day cult member.

One of the initiation rites for Dawn of Day was for inductees to confess a secret they'd never told anyone (and thus be open to blackmail if they tried to leave the cult presumably). Kristina apparently had no secrets at the time so she lied and made up that Alexis had hit Kiefer on purpose. Shiloh told Kendra this offscreen and that's what led to Kendra coming after Alexis.

Hilariously, I low key thought the show was possibly going to pair Alexis with the above-mentioned Harmony for a minute.

Me too, and I'm somebody here actually suggested the same thing at the time.

I had no idea Maggie and Marlena were best friends. I guess Maggie became stuck in this supporting role years ago to help prop up storylines for other characters. I’ve only seen her 3 times in 2001 and it was all involving John/Marlena.

I'll preface this by saying that I don't know how close Marlena and Maggie were back in the 70s and 80s before Marlena was presumed dead. But I do seem to recall that they didn't have much to do with each other in the 90s. By 2001, Maggie had been supporting role for the past decade since her affair storyline with Neil Curtis had pretty much flopped back in '91.

Meanwhile, Marlena's previous confidants, Laura and Kim were no longer around. Kate (who'd been close with Marlena back when Deborah Adair was in the role) was too busy warring with Sami for a close friendship with Marlena to remain plausible, while Hope and Marlena's friendship were severely strained because of the whole Princess Gina/sub sex/baby paternity drama. And of course Lexie was too preoccupied with Isaac and being tempted over to the dark side to be friends with Marlena.

So you end up with Marlena and Maggie as best friends by default, although I assume they did have some sort of friendship back in the day so its not as if it came entirely out of nowhere.

    Spoiler

Of course its been rumored that Deidre Hall and Suzanne Rogers don't get along and thus Maggie and Marlena don't often share scenes anymore - and usually only in a group.

(unless that has changed, I have not watched in ages)

Not knowing who that is, it prompted me to see who on the cast I still know. Just three characters, Chris, Drew, and Esther, but I also saw that they recently brought back a classic character in Libby. How's that going?

I'm not even sure Libby's return has aired yet. Does anyone else know her first airdate? It's been spoiled for so long now, likely due to the new filming schedule where they finish up the year in June and then go dark for much longer due to there only being 3 episodes a week produced.

This may be the story that Patsy Pease refused to play as she was pregnant at the time; IIRC she had a sense it could cause her baby to die (and she then did have a difficult delivery).

Patsy was pregnant when Kimberly had the miscarriage but that wasn't the story she refused to play. But Patsy did feel uncomfortable enough about it that when she got pregnant again in early 1990 (and Kim got pregnant, but didn't know if it was Shane's or Cal's) she refused to play out a stillbirth. So they replaced her with Anne Howard who lasted a few months and in the end Kim ended up not having a stillbirth but rather gave birth to Jeannie Theresa off-screen in LA (though Shane did go and visit Jeannie just after she was born but I think Kim wasn't seen). Patsy then returned either around the end of the year or early 1991.

I also see that she was with Scott...was that at this time? How long were they together?

In 2020, Obrecht was having some doctor at a WSB facility brainwash Dante to kill Peter, then Scott and Franco went to the same facility to get help for Franco's tumor recurrence. Scott ended up saving Obrecht after the doctor attempted to sexually assault her and pushed him into a knife, killing him. Nobody ever found out about that and eventually they fell in love and started a relationship. They were together for more than two years but broke up in 2023 after Scott continued to stand by Liz after the whole thing concerning Liz helping Nikolas hold Esme captive came out. Obrecht blamed Liz's actions in that for indirectly leading to Britt's death.

  13. I fell behind GH so am only up to March 10 but have enjoyed March so far, so thought I'd do a quick post before this monthly thread heads off to the archives.

I like Emma getting involved in the crypt drama and that someone on the writing team remembered that during the poisoned water thing, Edward gave up the cure Tracy stole for him in order to save Emma, which gives Emma a plausible reason to actually care about what happens to the Q remains.

Portia changing Heather's test results came back and Drew is dangling it over her head. I'm glad she immediately went to Ava for help and is now getting legal advice from Ric.

I am slowly warming to the idea of Gio being Dante and Brook-Lyn's even though I don't like the compound SORASing and retcons that it creates. Lulu and Brook had an interesting confrontation after Lulu found out about Brook's baby. I also like the respect that Tracy has developed for Gio too.

Sidwell finding the knife Helena used to kill Alexis' mother and that whole thing was weird but interesting.

    Joss and her spy training...meh

Charlotte coming back to Port Charles...meh

Looking forward to binging the rest of the month! (I did have a sneak peek at a recap so I know about Kristina causing Ric and Liz to have a car accident and Emma chaining herself to the crypt etc)

I did appreciate that Selina took a moment out from all the threats to give her deluded nephew some advice about Lucas and finding another man who would accept him for who he is lol.

Will Drew screw Jason over the alibi? Probably not, but maybe they'll drag it out for a dozen 20 second long scenes tomorrow with both of them doing their best "smell the farts" faces.

The only way I see this Joss the spy thing working is if Emma is in actuality undercover for some reason, having already been recruited for the WSB, and they make them bickering partners.

And I liked the scenes with Lucas and Alexis, Portia and Jordan, Kai and Trina, and Nina and Maxie.

Another January 1967 episode (we now have 3 available). This has the Phil/Audrey story that was discussed a few pages ago by @Dion.

This is also the first time I've seen Catherine Farrar as Polly. Her scene is at about 15 minutes.

    My goodness...

All I can say is she plays the scene like someone who was just picked off the street. On a show that often has good acting I was a bit thrown. I can see why she didn't last long. Was she better as Julie on DAYS?

Who is playing her sleazy professor?

Ah yes, this was the episode that was on WOST back in 2004.

And Ben Andrews is playing Bob Chandler, the sleazy professor who basically told Polly he was some sort of polyamorist in an open marriage, but Polly later found out his wife knew nothing of this arrangement. As a result, Polly ended up leaving to go to art school in Chicago in March but came back in June after her father's health took another turn for the worse. Presumably this is when the recast to Jennifer Billingsley happened.

Oh and the editing/writinng on this show sucks. Tues show ends with Lulu at the Q mansion with Dante and Brooklyn at the club with Chase on V-Day. Wed opens up, Lulu has change and both she and Brook are at work. Mind you this is at night and no time has changed between episodes bc everyone else is still at the club and Cyrus is at Liz' door as he was in the cliffhanger for hte previous show

Lulu apparently went to the Deception office after getting an after hours call from the supplier and called Brook-Lyn away from her Valentines Day date. Lulu was actually wearing the same clothes she had on in the previous episode. But you're right about the editing/writing. There was no set-up for these changes (i.e Lulu getting a phone call at the Q mansion or Brooklyn at the club calling her away from Chase) so it all felt very abrupt.
