Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
What's happening with Pierce doesn't bother me, because he was always set up this way (this is who Tess was complaining about from way back), but it bothers me that this is likely being done to set up Paddy/Rhona redux. I have never liked that relationship. Rhona is much better off without him, and Paddy is mostly either just dour or a blithering idiot around her. I find the show wildly uneven. The Ashley and Laurel stuff really is far above the rest, then there are other parts I think sometimes reach high quality, like Moira's grief. The rest is all over the place. There are some things I simply don't care about, like Zak reuniting with Lisa. I'd rather she be on her own. I don't mind the Debbie return or Faith as much as you do but I do think the Dingles easily get in a rut - it's difficult to really believe that Sarah is ill, it just feels like a plot device for schemes or comedy. Generally I enjoy Charity the most of that group.

Funnily enough a lot of people in Canada get very upset when Trudeau speaks French, especially when he's in places like Quebec where people not there seem to think they only want to speak French and not English. I imagine there will be some sort of to-do over this with Canada's far right. Trudeau had it easy with Obama. It must take everything he has not to just curl up and die having to play friendly with Trump. I guess he's probably more in agreement with Trump on oil and gas stuff though.

You'd think they would have known this exact thing happened in Wisconsin a few years ago. This is what you get when you vote for a Republican.

You're right. That was one of their top links on the page so I thought it was new. I should have read the date. (and then I didn't even link to the right article anyway...)- The Politics Thread
It's always tempting to look for incredibly complex motives - I tend to assume that these people just want to do things cheap and quick and don't take the time to think about cleanup.- The Politics Thread
I'm glad George Takei continues to find shiny objects to focus on... The Guardian has a piece about the reality of Alabama's new immigration law. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/feb/12/white-house-correspondents-dinner-donald-trump- The Politics Thread
It shows how poisoned modern society is, and how deluded they are. This delusion is also why Obama won in 2008, beyond the very strong campaign he ran. People made him into a god, especially many on the left. When he had to actually be a human being, many pampered brats (of all ages...) sat on their hands for 8 years.- Loving/The City Discussion Thread
He's in another one too from around this time - an American Airlines ad. I guess it happens but he aged a fair amount by the time he went on AMC a few years later.- All My Children Tribute Thread

That's the real question - when the big companies will be scrutinized for their visas that exist mostly to scam and corner cut. The answer is likely never.- The Politics Thread
I have to admit I find this practice somewhat antiquated these days, but I would have thought that was "Mrs. Pence's" job since clearly Melania wasn't going to do it. Maybe she's chained to the oven?- The Politics Thread

I'd love to see them pair max and Glenda up for a while. I do wonder if the character will be back or if this is it. They kept mentioning her animosity with Shirley, which never really went anywhere, so maybe she will return for a story with her. She got to play much different material as Glenda this time around and for the most part she did it well.- The Politics Thread

True. It's just that none of that about her raising Kim is really true to their history, so it was difficult for me to invest in. But it was a good scene in of itself.- The Politics Thread
I can't help being wary of these "White House staffer" Twitters, especially since that Bannon stuff is pretty obvious given the claims of how he treated women at Breitbart.- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Sadly it never comes to a resolution with Phil and Sharon. The Denise scene was good in of itself, but it was also such a set piece. I wish they would, as you say, write more for her in a strong way all the time.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
Zak has always been spineless. It's just that in recent years that was more tolerable because he and Lisa were a settled couple, and he was allowed to be more of a voice of reason. Kate Oates destroyed that with the affair and the callous way he treated Lisa. It's never been the same since. Other than those few months when she was going off the rails, I think Belle did what she could with Joanie. Joanie was her friend, a mentor to her, and she broke up her parents behind her back. - The Politics Thread
