  1. Brenda said she changed the way she played Jill because the writing for Jill had changed in her years away, that Jill had become a bitch, and so on. I think she still managed to have some restraint until around the time Jill and John divorced and Jill was starting over - then she started going hogwild with the turbans and so on.
  2. If not for Cassandra I never would have gotten into Y&R. Boy I just adored her. I guess that should have told me something about myself...
  3. Yes - without a hack like Goutman, anyway.
  4. If I'd been on a board at the time of that GL I would have probably been fuming - looking back I realize they were not entirely to blame (and I think Rauch and/or MADD were sabotaging them) but there were so many choices that made no sense and so many moments that just felt inauthentic (Blake seemed to become Lucy Coe overnight).
  5. At this point I believe the Labines were planning to pair Michelle with Frank (!), so who knows what they or Rauch had in mind.
  6. I thought Hilary Edson worked well with Peter Simon, and the story of her attempts to reclaim her sanity and reputation was one of the few I connected with by that point. I also thought that the right to die story and Rick's angst over what to do was good drama - and that story was also one of the few times I bought Barbara Crampton as Mindy. I always kind of wondered if they did intend for her to be a more permanent coupling with Nick if they hadn't managed to book a 'name' (sort of) as Mindy.
  7. From old posts in the They Almost Became thread, Laura Allen (Laura English #2, AMC), auditioned. So did Elizabeth Hendrickson (Maggie/Frankie, AMC, and other soap roles that are too shitty to mention).
  8. One of the dullest recasts ever, and so cold and sanctimonious. I knew I disliked her when I was rooting for Danny in their child custody and divorce wrangling, even though he was a gangster. It speaks volumes that she was going to be recast when the show ended and also that she wasn't even asked for that reunion chat (as far as I know...). He was thrown into Marah's age group, yes, for that tacky, stupid "virginity bet" story where three men were desperate to get into her pants. Lindsey McKeon has gone on to prove herself as an actress, but she was never worth the focus she got on GL.
  9. I would never have gotten so into AW without that website. It's so beautifully detailed. Like the Edge of Night website. I'm glad they are both still around (I think). That was also the only place to find past material for AW before Youtube came along (I know there was WOST but I never had the Internet connection strength to enjoy that while it was at its peak).
  10. That "despise" one still cracks me up. The early days of the soap Interwebs were wild. You'd never say that today (probably for good reason).
  11. Generally, yes. With Taggart they did have some friendship scenes, mostly in the context of pushing the Bill/Michelle pairing...nearly a decade after anyone stopped having any interest in that relationship.
  12. Nothing that big, sadly, but more than I expected. Fletcher came back for Alex's exit, and before he left, he and Bill briefly spoke about how much they missed Ben. That was probably the first time the character's name had been mentioned since his wretched death storyline.
  13. JFP did that, reusing her same tired old storyline. She tried a third time too, on OLTL. The whole thing was contrived and I don't bother with any of that. Eddie Drueding's tirades against that time period are enough for me.
  14. GL at its best was never really just about romances. I never cared about his relationships with women (I did like him with Bev's Alex; Jay and Maureen Garrett had a certain spark but the relationship relied too much on suppressing Holly's personality), but he was a great community character, and I liked his friendships with Ed, Ross, etc. He was the only reason I sometimes tolerated Nick (Nick was a godawful character until his last six months or so on the show). I also thought his relationship with Ben was very touching, a bond built not on blood but on loss and found family. I never forgave the show for what they did with Ben. For all her flaws I'm glad Ellen Wheeler at least acknowledged this, opaquely, in the finale.
  15. I always liked Joe Barbara, if not really most of the stories he had. Amy is about the same. It's great that she is involved as she has had primetime success so could have thumbed her nose. So happy to hear about Linda and Stephen. I'm glad Linda is up to doing this. @SFK @DaytimeFan
  16. Jada Rowland briefly mentioned her Hamptons work in the Doctors WATN video - mainly that she only agreed to do the show if she would be killed off.
  17. I wonder if they don't do old fashion weeks because of the music rights. I wish they could get around that. I'd love to see the "environmental fashion show" again.
  18. Great work @YRfan23 . You always come through.
  19. Cotton terrifies me. He's so dead behind the eyes and that voice is straight horror film. Sadly many on the left adore him and are trying to push him as an example of why the left and the right must work together against the evil DNC.
  20. Some Marland-era episodes, sadly, dubbed, have been uploaded.
  21. Disgusting, and not even surprising.
  22. Great find! And such beautiful quality too. Interesting how the show really didn't seem to go for glossy looks in casting.
