Primetime Soaps
This is wonderful! Thank you for posting this! I loved the first two seasons and never got to see the final season when they cancelled the DVD release. I've been hoping this popped up on streaming but no luck. Happy I'll finally get to see how it ended!

BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
The actor who plays Martin has been teasing that nobody has guessed Martin's secret. I love that for things like that and the June story we have no idea. I feel like if we didn't have the day ahead feeds Anita's reveal would've been shocking as well. I love that they aren't going the obvious route with these stories.

He also gave some of the best episodes, like the episodes surrounding Doug's death. The problem with Days was that Ron had a horrible vision from he top. I don't feel the same for MVJ and nothing that has happened in all these months suggests she doesn't have a handle on the show. Now if it becomes an issue I'll acknowledge it, but I'm not seeing it so far.

Breakdown writers can pitch stories and obviously they have influence over what is included in the breakdown but MVJ is the final decision maker. It depends on the faith you have in MVJ if you feel Carlivati is going to be a problem. I don't think a throwaway having a book author named after him is a sign he's taken over the show. Most people didn't even catch the reference.

ARTICLE: ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ Departing Television City, Sets Move To Sunset Las Palmas Studios
I'm not an expert but I do know they typically take these summer breaks and backlog episodes to make it possible. I imagine that's easy for them since it's only a half hour soap. I hope that the new studio gives them an opportunity to revamp the sets and overall production. I know they had some outdoor sets and I wonder if that will continue with the new studio. Hopefully this is a positive move and gives them more space as well.

I do agree that I wish there was more gay representation in terms of singles. I also had hoped we'd get a Black couple since it was a Black soap and I don't know that we've ever seen that on a US soap. With that said, it's still early days so I can imagine we'll get that at some point. I am impressed they launched with as much LGBT representation considering how US soaps can be.

BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
I don't think Chelsea has a true label just yet. She's just finding out she has an interest in women. I think the awkwardness is aligned with the character as we've seen. This is the fool who keeps filming her family when embarrassing things happen and live streaming it. I actually think it's refreshing she isn't just jumping into a relationship and that they're playing the beats of her trying to figure out who she is.

BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
I agree. I really have enjoyed this story from the beginning. I feel like it needed the time for us to care about Doug. They've done a nice job of explaining his motives and making me care for him. I still feel like he's doomed and Vanessa will end up being a widow and now I'm invested in that *not* happening now that I've fallen for him. Friday was good but so was the entire week. I think they're doing such a nice job of keeping things moving. We got good movement with Bill's story this week, Chelsea is attempting to date, Andre and Dani are having tough conversations about their relationship, of course Anita reunited with Sharon. There is *so* much going on and I didn't even cover all of it. I wish all of the soaps would take a page out of BTG book and start rotating their stories. I love that everybody is getting a chance to shine and they don't just sit on one lead story to the point you get sick of it.

ARTICLE: Jonathan Jackson Exiting ‘General Hospital’ As Lucky Spencer
I feel like his return could've worked but they wasted him. I did enjoy Lucky and Liz back together but then they pivoted with the Kristina stuff which made no sense. Another big aspect to the character is how he disappears but they didn't develop his relationship with Aidan at all. Just feels like they could've brought him back for just a few weeks if they knew they had no real plans for him.

BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
I grew up in a neighborhood behind the gates and it really wasn't uncommon to have your house unlocked. In my neighborhood there was an armed gate before you enter the neighborhood and you have security patrolling 24/7. One thing that was common when I was in high school were for the kids whose parents were real estate agents to use their houses to throw house parties. It was easy because they were always unlocked.

They are idiots! It seems crazy that Leslie is inserting herself so much into this investigation but everybody is falling into her traps. I find it to be an interesting back and forth and I'm still not completely sure who will win. I have a theory but I'm going to wait for more to develop before I say more. I feel like Haley has been more on the sidelines so I'm enjoying this new desperate streak she appears to be developing. I'm curious how it'll manifest overtime. I also agree with Dani that I am not convinced she's pregnant. I think she's trying to get pregnant but really just see's herself fading into the background and wants attention and validation from Dani and her family.

BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
Honestly, this shouldn't need Mona OR Shanice. You mean to tell me there aren't other cameras in the hospital that would've caught her in the parking lot or the nurses station? They would've been better off saying she flirted with security and deleted the footage because this doesn't add up in 2025.

I feel like they've worked out the kinks with most of the wigs (notably: Anita, Kat & Chelsea) but they still haven't gotten it right with Naomi. They need to cut her a custom hairline to account for her widows peak. I also don't think you can do a side part without addressing that.

Me too or Amazon Prime. Somewhere where you can just binge at your own pace. I hate that the series is incomplete but i'd love to pick up where I left off which was around the time Greta has gotten pregnant.

I hope they're able to fix it. I understand Canada has a specific deal with Y&R but if they don't have that with BTG, they should fix it. It sucked having Anita's secret spoiled without any warning. I don't want the same for Martin's secret or other future twists.

BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
This is what kills me about the complaints that the show is moving too slow. I don't think any of the other soaps has revealed as much as BTG has in the same time frame. Not only are stories moving but it's rotating as well. Y&R has been teasing that Dumas character since February with no reveal in sight. B&B was one day for the majority of May with very limited storylines. GH had a strong final week of May but the storylines had been dragging for months prior to that. I appreciate that BTG doesn't focus so much on recapping and keeps the stories moving. I have anticipation about certain ones like Martin and Anita's secrets but I'm not worried about it because the writers have proven they will keep these stories moving at a strong pace.

BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
Today was good! Sharon I felt was appropriately bitter but I like that they didn't make her the bad guy. You can tell Anita feels bad about what she did and she's going to have to own that. I hope they continue to allow Sharon a perspective without villainizing her. One thing I found interesting is that she works in the church choir similar to Leslie...could that be her daughter? Another big positive for me were the scenes with Martin and both of his parents. Those are relationships they haven't developed as much as they should have and they're important. I feel like Martin is at his most likeable outside of his scenes with Smitty (likely due to his secret). I hope they continue to focus on these relationships prior to the reveal. The Leslie story continues to be a highlight as well. I love that you cannot make that woman sweat. I am so used to villains scrambling when they're about to get caught but she seems so confident that she won't be. I'm very curious how she's going to wiggle out of this one.

I came here to see what everybody thought of today's episode and I realize it hasn't come on yet! And of course I have a meeting so I can't watch live! I'm so curious about those Anita/Sharon scenes.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I haven't stopped watching but I've gotten to the point where I keep getting backed up and force myself to binge it. I'll admit they can throw out a good individual episode here and there but as a whole the show feels very disconnected and like they're throwing anything at the wall to see what sticks. For example, I loved Lauren's initial return and I also enjoyed Penny and Penny was dropped, Lauren is now hooked on drugs and miserable and for what? Plus you have Kathy randomly having an affair with Jean's boyfriend...what happened to Jean's money issues? Why did we pivot to this? There is no cohesion or unifying plot. I'm beyond ready to see what the new writers do with the show.

I've enjoyed Vernon but I wouldn't be opposed to learning more about his life beyond his political work. What kind of family does he come from? Does he have any siblings? I feel like that could be an interesting thing to look at.

Beverly Hills, 90210 Discussion Thread
I forget his name but Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth had the EP on after they didn't understand the 60s flashback episode due to the lack of original music. He felt that was one of his strongest episodes so he came on to explain to them just how much the music changes hurt the series. Basically, they only allowed him to pick a selection of episodes he felt the music was vital and other than that they didn't bother to save the music. They kept music for prom and things like the Color Me Badd episode and for most of the musical acts but any music you loved from the opening of the show or just music played in random scenes was cut. I know there are also some scenes cut but I don't know too much about that. The most glaring one was Clare's final scene being cut which is obviously a huge problem for a character who'd been around for so long. Overall I was able to enjoy my rewatch using the DVDs but without all of the original music it isn't nearly as good a show.

Y&R: May 2025 Discussion Thread
I know the fashions have gotten mixed reviews but I actually like what the new costume designer is putting the cast in. It feels more modern and the more tacky pieces I feel make sense for rich people. They're buying for the brand and the price and we often see celebs in things like this. Especially for a character like Nikki, I feel the more over the top (and tacky), the more realistic it is.

ARTICLE: Robert Guza Jr. Exits ‘Beyond The Gates’; ‘Secrets of Sulphur Springs’ Creator Tracey Thomson Joins As Executive Producer – EXCLUSIVE
I like Joey and the idea of having a criminal element but I do agree they need to find a better setting for it. Maybe give Joey a more traditional location for his front business like a coffee shop or restaurant so you still have a place the cast can meet up. Daytime has been run by men for the past decade and it hasn't been good. I am more than open to women taking the lead.

ARTICLE: Robert Guza Jr. Exits ‘Beyond The Gates’; ‘Secrets of Sulphur Springs’ Creator Tracey Thomson Joins As Executive Producer – EXCLUSIVE
I'm not too worried about this. We all know MVJ is the main vision and the show has continued to improve over time so I don't see why that would change. She's also close with Guza in real life so I wouldn't believe it if anybody said there were any drama surrounding his exit. It's not surprising for a new show to have writing changes. We already know Gregori Martin will be out at some point and Jamey is joining. Now we know Tracy Thomson is joining. I don't know anything about her but I'm going to hope for the best. I wasn't aware of this rumor but I will say I loved JFP's last stint on the show. I think she did a good job of stabilizing things and I loved that she brought Jill back. Of course a big problem was that Chancellor mansion re-design but overall I think her Y&R was safe and watchable. They're in dire need of a major change so I wouldn't be mad at it.

BTG: May 2025 Discussion Thread
What we're watching now was filmed in the early week after the premiere but I wouldn't imagine we'll see any changes based on audience feedback until August/September because of how far they ahead film/write.
