GH: November 2025 Discussion Thread
Am I the only one whose noticed how frail Maurice Bernard is starting to become now. He's not looking good for his early 60s. It's almost painful to watch now. Is he well? Is he ok?

ALL: Worst re-writes in soaps history
OLTL: Yesterday I watched Erika S's interview with Television Academy and she made a somewhat subtle remark about not being a big fan of the rewrite that Viki had a twin daughter whilst she was unconscious by Mitch ('Not very smart'). Would've loved more tea like this from those big profile actors. I get the sense from that interview that Erika was a very down to earth actress who took the work seriously.

GH: Classic Thread
RE the rape. I honestly think the 1998 revisit of the story was one of the best stories GH ever did. Finally correcting the major moral wrong they did with Luke/Laura. Everyone shone in that story, especially Tony Geary in that monologue which is still chilling to this day. I think it hits him hard when he sees Elizabeth all bruised and then Bobbie's cold response to Luke also. It shows how far time changes characters and revisiting these sort of things really highlights the horror of the act.

GH: Classic Thread
Been watching a lot of old GH and it got me thinking about the Era of Jill Farren Phelps and whether she did any good to the show in contrast to the many many bad. I did like The Text Message Killer story even if all the wrong characters got killed, and I really enjoyed The Black/White ball sweeps story.

ALL: And Now You Must Marry Me Trope
I don't know whether ot was Y&R or B&B, but didn't Deacon tried to blackmail Amber to marry him at one point?

ALL: And Now You Must Marry Me Trope
I'm trying to find as many examples of a trope in soaps where someone (usually a man to a woman) forces another into marrying him whether that'd be blackmail or emotion manipulation of sorts. I see this pop up in soaps from time to time and wanted to find as many examples from other soaps. The TV trope known as "And Now You Must Marry Me" typically involves a storyline where a character is forced into a marriage against their will. It often occurs when a villain or antagonist blackmails or coerces the protagonist into marrying them, usually for personal gain, power, or control. This trope can be found in various genres, such as romantic dramas, fantasy, and soap operas. The tension and conflict arise from the protagonist's struggle to escape the unwanted marriage and find a way to free themselves from the clutches of the manipulative character. Examples include - Alan & Beth : Guiding Light (2009) - Both mendorra weddings: One Life To Live (1990 & 2008) - Lawrence & Jennifer: Days Of Our Lives (1990) - Alistair & Theresa: Passions (2005?) - Maxie & 'Levi': General Hospital (2014) Does anyone have any other examples of this sort of trope. So cheesy but so fun at the same time. Would be good to know more from other soaps I'm missing.

One Life to Live Tribute Thread
Watching clips of YouTube around the final few years of the show. hot take alert: Never a fan of Starr/Cole and honestly preferred Starr/James as they seemed a bit more spicy and exciting, plus I never like couples whose endgame is to be together forever. They never make fun couples.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I feel LN should make progress by introducing this new family. We've heard nothing so far, and the cast is getting much weaker with the loss of Tanya, Jack & Michael in the coming periods. Hopefully some new blood can be ejected very soon.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I am liking EE right now, but I agree with the majority. The Brannings need cutting down as it is getting repetitive and they aren't as good of a family as The Mitchells are *Cue Mitchell bias". The Mitchells dominance in a way was more entertaining because The Mitchells as a family are more interesting, complex and enjoyable. The Brannings aren't as good. Anyway, What are people's thoughts on the new family coming in later this year ? No details yet, but they expect to come Spring/Summer time. Thoughts ?

Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
Thank you. I have been following so heres hoping I can start blogging with some more soap fans again Tonight's episode was pretty good. I'm starting to like Katie a lot more now. I also hope Carl doesn't die.

Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
I hope to god its not Carl that dies. He has so much more potential at being one of Emmerdale's most complex villians in its 40 year history. Might even rival Kim Tate as one of the best. I actually think it might be Declan, seeing as SB said that the person dies "has it coming". Isn't Declan trying to swindle Megan off her money ? Maybe he meets an unfortunate demise. Characters I'd axe are Brenda Walker - No way to go and pretty much does nothing. Priya Sharma - Similar and seeing as Alicia is coming back soon and will likely get with David, presents no other avenues left to explore. Declan Macey - Only to introduce a new family into Home Farm Cameron Murray - Dragging Debbie down and is just an uninteresting character Alex Moss - Dull character and dragging Victoria down Sean Spencer - Don't like the character at all Ali Spencer - Don't like the character, Too shouty and show off Rishi Sharma - No point in having him Robbie Lawson - Poor villian. Kill him off or send him off to prison Kerry Wyatt - If she isn't developed by Mid 2013, get rid of her BRING BACK Kim Tate, Nathan Wylde
