ARTICLE: Daytime Broadcast Ratings for the Week of April 22-26, 2024
Looks that way. The Bold and the Beautiful is actually up. Despite the minor dip in viewers, and I do mean minor, the demos are actually fine. They could be better, sure, but they are fine. The Women 25-54 unrounded rating is actually better than what it was before Sheila "died," while in Women 18-49, the unrounded demo is the best since Sugar was killed.

ARTICLE: Daytime Broadcast Ratings for the Week of April 22-26, 2024
During the week of April 22-26, 2024, CBS’ “The Price is Right” (3.886 million / 4.375 million) and “The Young and the Restless” (3.220 million) attracted their largest overall audiences since at least mid-to-late February. Among unrounded Women 18-49, “The Young and the Restless” tied its week ago performance with a 0.35 rating. Meanwhile, in Women 25-54, the soap opera tied its second-best performance of the season with a 0.57 rating among unrounded Women 25-54. “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.668 million) saw a minor dip among Total Viewers but remained steady in unrounded Women 18-49 with a 0.26 rating. Among unrounded Women 25-54, the half-hour soap tied for its best performance in the demo since the week of February 5-9, 2024 with a 0.43 rating. Over at ABC, “General Hospital” (1.952 million) was below the two million viewer mark for the second week in a row. The series tied its season low in unrounded Women 18-49 with a 0.18 rating, albeit there were no reported preemptions or interruptions impacting the show’s performance, unlike the show’s performance during the week of October 2-6, 2023, the first time the show hit a 0.18 rating. “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.311 million) beat both “The Talk” (1.223 million) and “NBC News Daily” (1.115 million) among Total Viewers, but the ABC News program ranked last in both unrounded Women 18-49 (0.13 rating) and unrounded Women 25-54 (0.22 rating), marking severe erosion in the former category in particular compared to its comparable performance during the year ago week (0.13 rating vs. 0.21). What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of April 22-26, 2024 in Women 18-49, Women 25-54, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their performance during the comparable week last year. A closer look at the daytime soaps, including their daily performance breakdown in the demos, will be posted shortly. Note: “The View” aired repeats all week. As a result, the numbers listed below are not factored into the show’s season average. Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
I finally went to Santa Barbara for the first time recently. It was a very cold and chilly place when you add the wind and the ocean. That alone would have caused drama in my life, let alone a full soap opera.

After three days of delayed viewing, ABC’s “9-1-1” was the most-watched program on television, beating out CBS Sports coverage of NCAA Basketball. While sports dominated in the key sales demographics, topping the list in every category, “Grey’s Anatomy” tied in for #1 in Women 18-49 with the 20-minute bridge between games on CBS, each with a 1.04 rating in key women. The CW aired a second episode of “Son of the Critch” this week, improving or tying its first half-hour in most demo categories. Meanwhile, “Next Level Chef” is doing well for FOX. ARTICLE: Live+7 Primetime Broadcast Ratings for Thursday, March 14, 2024
After seven days of delayed viewership, ABC’s launch of “9-1-1” remains the network’s most-watched show among Total Viewers on Thursday nights, topping its lead outs “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Station 19.” However, in most key sales demographics, “Grey’s Anatomy” came out on top with the exception of Men 18-49 rating, where the FOX transplant firefighter series excelled above all the other broadcast shows airing that night. “Law & Order: SVU” proved why it got renewed for a 26th season, ranking among the Top 5 highest-rated and most-watched shows on Thursday, March 14, 2024. In fact, the veteran series added the most viewers compared with its Live+3 performance, adding +404,000 viewers in Live+7. The show also added the most Adults 18-49 Viewers, with +96,000 gained from Live+3 to Live+7, and the biggest gain among Adults 18-49 rating, adding +0.08. Oddly, an “Elsbeth” encore fell in every category compared to its initially reported Live+3 performance based on newly released Live+7 data, likely due to revisions and/or errors. Here's a bit of irony: Colleen Bell (Brad Bell's wife) is the executive director of the California Film Commission. https://film.ca.gov/ Message from the Executive Director Our Commitment to Growing California’s Film/TV Production Industry Has Never Been Stronger! On July 10, 2023, Governor Newsom signed legislation to extend and expand California’s Film and TV Tax Credit Program for an additional five years through 2030-31. This decisive action will directly create an estimated 60,000 production jobs and $10 billion in related investment across the state. The fourth-generation tax credit program (Program 4.0) demonstrates California’s commitment to retaining our status as the media production capital of the world. It is a vital and necessary tool to keep and grow production here at home, where it belongs. In all, California’s Film and TV production industry supports well over 700,000 jobs and nearly $70 billion in wages for in-state workers. It is an economic engine that powers everything from production employment and tourism to our extraordinary creative spirit. In addition to the five-year extension, Program 4.0 will make tax credits refundable, opening the program to a broader range of applicants and generating even more jobs, spending and opportunity. Another key aspect of Program 4.0 is its enhanced focus on workforce training, diversity and inclusion. Several expanded and new features will create opportunities for individuals from underserved communities. The goal is to help reduce economic, geographic and social barriers to career access and success. There are also specific policies for addressing harassment and increasing industry representation of women and monitories. I’m proud to report that California is committed to offering the film/TV production industry the best value, as well as the best values. The team here at the California Film Commission is ready to assist in making your next project a success! Colleen Bell, Executive Director California Film Commission I don't smoke. Haha. Never have. Never will.

Beginning August 31, 2020, national ratings include Out of Home (OOH) viewing. Previously, ratings did not include OOH viewing. Averages are based on regular telecasts. However, unrounded provides a clear picture of the differentiation between ratings for each show. “NBC News Daily” 2022, 2021, and 2020 figures are compared to the performance of “Days of our Lives,” which moved to Peacock exclusively beginning September 12, 2022. “GMA3: What You Need to Know” 2020 (pre-pandemic) figures are compared to “GMA3: Strahan, Sara & Keke.” Year-to-year comparisons (2024 vs. 2023) for most daytime broadcast shows among Households and Total Viewers will be unavailable for the foreseeable future because the figures were unavailable to Soap Opera Network at press time. **Notable Preemptions/Schedule Changes There were no notable preemptions or schedule changes for the week of March 11-15, 2024 reported by Nielsen. Redding Munsell will be taking over the role of Harrison Abbott, beginning with the Friday, April 12 episode of “The Young and the Restless." Munsell replaces Kellen Enriquez, who has played the son of Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Tara Locke since May 2021. Enriquez appeared for the final time in the role during the Wednesday, March 20 episode, a standalone episode of the daytime drama series in which Claire (Hayley Erin) imagines what life would have been like had she never been separated from the Newman family. Redding appeared in the film, “Red, White, and Blue,” which was nominated this year for Best Live Action Short Film at the 96th Academy Awards. The film stars Brittany Snow (“Guiding Light,” “American Dreams”) as Rachel, a poor single mother who has to go out of state due to a change in American law preventing her from getting an abortion in her home state. Redding plays Jake, one of Rachel’s two children. Redding will next appear opposite Sylvia Hoeks in the film, “Hurricanna.” Note: The post Redding Munsell Joins ‘The Young and The Restless’ As Recast Harrison Abbott appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. ARTICLE: Primetime Broadcast Live+3 Ratings For Friday, March 15, 2024
CBS returned to a full night of original programming on Friday, March 15, featuring all-new episodes of “S.W.A.T.,” “Fire Country” and “Blue Bloods.” All three shows were at the top of the charts among Total Viewers. “WWE Smackdown” on FOX led in Adults 18-49 and most demographics, but CBS’ slate pulled ahead in Women 18-49. “Dateline” on NBC also outperformed the wrestling show in the women’s demographic. Of course, that’s not surprising considering the massive lead “Smackdown” had among Men 18-49.
