Beyond the Gates airs at 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT. No CBS affiliate is known to be airing the show out of its designated time slot.

Demos are all that matter, and the show is performing much better than The Talk after just four weeks on the air. It has time to grow. The Talk also lost lots of viewers following The Bold and the Beautiful and it aired for 15 seasons.

Although only three original episodes aired during the week of March 17-21, 2025, due to CBS’ annual coverage of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament on Thursday, March 20 and Friday, March 21, the network’s scripted lineup consisting of “The Young and the Restless,” “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “Beyond the Gates” were up week-to-week and compared to the same week last year among Women 18-49, Women 25-54, and for the most part, Households and Total Viewers. For the week, “The Young and the Restless” (3.058 million) grew +0.02 week-to-week among Women 18-49 (0.31 rating vs. 0.29 rating) and +0.04 among Women 25-54 (0.52 rating vs. 0.48 rating). Compared to the same week last year, daytime’s most watched and highest rated drama series was up +0.05 among Women 18-49 (0.31 rating vs. 0.26 rating) and up +0.09 among Women 25-54 (0.52 rating vs. 0.43 rating), with the show tying for its second best performance of the season in both demographics. “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.601 million) also saw big gains compared to its week ago perforamnce, up an even better +0.03 among Women 18-49 (0.28 rating vs. 0.25 rating) and +0.08 among Women 25-54 (0.47 rating vs. 0.39 rating) with the soap tying for its second best performance of the season among Women 18-49 (0.28 rating), and tying its best performance of the season among Women 25-54 (0.47 rating). The soap was also up year-to-year, gaining +0.06 among Women 18-49 (0.28 rating vs. 0.22 rating) and up +0.09 among Women 25-54 (0.47 rating vs. 0.38 rating). Keeping the momentum going, in its fourth week on the air, “Beyond the Gates” (1.685 million) was up +0.02 week-to-week among Women 18-49 (0.22 rating vs. 0.20 rating) and +0.03 among Women 25-54 (0.36 rating vs 0.33 rating), and continues to top time slot competitor “General Hospital” (1.925 million) in both demographics. The new show’s viewership advantage over year ago time slot holder “The Talk” (1.230 million) was up +455,000, and its demo gains were +0.06 among Women 18-49 (0.22 rating vs. 0.16 rating) and +0.10 among Women 25-54 (0.36 rating vs. 0.26 rating). “General Hospital” was up week-to-week among Women 18-49 (0.21 rating vs. 0.20 rating), but was flat among Women 25-54 (0.31 rating). Compared to the same week last year, the series was up +0.01 (0.21 rating vs. 0.20 rating) but was down -0.06 among Women 25-54 (0.31 rating vs. 0.37 rating). The second half hours of both “The Price is Right” (4.190 million) and “Let’s Make Deal” (2.274 million) saw week-to-week and year-to-year declines among both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54, with the former being impacted by reruns on Thursday, March 20 and Friday, March 21, which were factored into the show’s weekly average. “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.364 million) and “NBC News Daily” (1.083 million) hit or tied their season low among Women 18-49 and Women 25-54, with both shows continuing to remain at the bottom in the key demos, with a rapidly declining “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” (1.229 million) joining them among Households and Total Viewers. “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” was up or flat week-to-week and year-to-year among Women 18-49 and Women 25-54, proving the show is more of a demo hit than a viewership one. On Monday, March 31, talk show host Tamron Hall will celebrate 1,000 episodes of her daytime talk show, “Tamron Hall,” featuring celebrity guests, including “Good Morning America” co-anchor Robin Roberts. In the episode, the show presents a magical giveaway to a 13-year-old whose neighborhood lemonade stand raised over $200,000 to support other kids. Meanwhile, beauty entrepreneur Shontay Lundy, creator of “Black Girl Sunscreen,” stops by. Later, Tamron receives a special surprise from her alma mater, Temple University. “Everything, even the hard parts, I love,” said Hall in a recent interview with ABC7 Los Angeles (KABC). “What’s so great about hosting a talk show is that I’m able to infuse my journey every day. It’s been great to talk about my son, to talk about my journey,” she noted, adding, “Put the baby to bed, OK, I’ve got the sitter.” “Being the executive producer of the show and creating the show, I have a particular set of skills,” Hall continued. “I had to lean in on those particular skills to present the conversation to our audience, but also down to the flowers and the colors, and the energy of the show. In an episode airing on Tuesday, April 1, the show looks back on the “Live” family’s most memorable moments at its studio home for nearly 40 years before moving into its new digs within Disney’s corporate headquarters located at 7 Hudson Square, plus a surprise guest who has appeared the most times on the show makes their 100th “Live” appearance! Former “General Hospital” and “NYPD Blue” star Kim Delaney was arrested on Saturday, March 29, alongside her partner, James Morgan, after law enforcement arrived at her Los Angeles home in response to a domestic disturbance call. According to TMZ, which first reported the news, sources told the outlet that things unfolded around 10:00 a.m. local time after officers assessed the situation, which included Delaney and Morgan allegedly getting into a “heated argument that turned physical.” The outlet’s sources also indicated that when paramedics arrived, both Delaney and Morgan had signs of physical injury. “After both were medically cleared, police slapped them with handcuffs and locked them up in jail,” the outlet said. “Kim was charged with felony assault likely to cause great bodily injury. Morgan was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence [DV].” On Sunday, PEOPLE reported that Delaney was charged with assault with a deadly weapon while Morgan was arrested for domestic violence, per a spokesperson for the Marina Del Rey Sherriff’s Station, which the outlet was referred to by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department when reaching out for comment. Morgan and Delaney were still in custody as of March 30, according to the spokesperson cited by PEOPLE. A representative for Delaney did not immediately respond to requests for comment from either outlet at press time. Reportedly, Morgan was arrested about a half an hour before Delaney by the LASD, and his bail was set at $20,000. This isn’t the first time Delaney has had to face the law. In 2002, she was booked on charges of drunken driving in Malibu, and in 2024, she was sued by a motorcyclist for allegedly fleeing the scene of an accident in Los Angeles. Delaney and Morgan are both scheduled for court appearances on Tuesday, April 1. Ironically, Delaney shared a photo of herself and Morgan on Instagram earlier this month, captioning the post, “Pure love.” She included the hashtags “lucky” and “grateful.” In a post from January, she said, “love always wins! ABC’s “General Hospital” will celebrate its 62nd anniversary on Tuesday, April 1, and that day’s episode will honor one of the show’s most iconic characters, Dr. Monica Quartermaine, who had been portrayed by the late Leslie Charleson since 1977. Leslie Charleson Scott Kirkland/ABC While the episode was written before Charleson’s death on January 12, 2025, at the age of 79, the introduction of the Dr. Monica Quartermaine Cardiac Wing will dedicate part of the fictional General Hospital location to her character. “I was thrilled,” said Genie Francis (Laura Collins) in a recent interview published in the latest issue of TV Guide Magazine, discussing her character’s prominent role in the episode. “It’s always nice when they acknowledge the fact I’m sort of an antique here; I’m historical. I like the feeling of that.” While producers had hoped Charleson would have been able to attend the on-air dedication when it was initially conceived, those plans were dashed following her passing. Reportedly, the show is planning to memorialize the character in a future story arc as the show is said to have no plans to recast the role. Genie Francis, Leslie Charleson Todd Wawrychuk/ABC “When I was a kid and she came on, she was always so kind to me,” recalled Francis of paying homage to her late colleague and noting how they both joined the show in the same year. “Most of us have come and gone, me included. Even Tony [Geary, ex-Luke Spencer] came and went. But Leslie was there nonstop. She was a real pillar of this show and of that hospital, which is a lovely thing. I’m glad they did this in her honor. I think it’s beautiful.” The episode’s script is filled with nods to the show’s history and features a moving tribute by Laura. “I take great pride in giving the speeches, because there’s a lot of truth in them and how I feel about this place and how I feel about the people in it,” shared Francis, previewing the episode. Speaking of history, Francis revealed that things haven’t always been happy during her time on the soap as she’s had some highs and lows, both on screen and behind the scenes. “It’s a mixed bag, but rather than having been crushed down by some of the bad parts that happened, I feel that I managed to work through it and stand up on top of it victoriously, and it feels like a win to me,” she says of the experience nearly 50 years since making her debut on the soap. It looks like “The Bold and the Beautiful” will be heading back to Italy for its next big location shoot, according to a recent update shared on Instagram by the show’s supervising producer, Casey Kasprzyk. On Friday, Kasprzyk shared several photos during a scouting trip in Naples, Italy, captioning his post, “Quick trip to Italy this week to scout locations in Naples and Capri,” which included photos of “the best pizza in Napoli.” Joining Kasprzyk for the adventure were Elisa Gastaldello, a business marketing and management communications specialist based out of Milan, Italy; Titti Cinque, a location manager based out of Naples, Italy; and Anthony Ferrari, Vice President of International Operations for “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Sean Smith/CBS “Capri! My favorite!! Have soooo much fun!” commented Jennifer Gareis, who plays Donna Logan on the soap, in response to Kasprzyk’s post. Whether the show chooses Naples or Capri, either location would make it the sixth time that the daytime drama series will have taped episodes on location in Italy, following trips to Lake Como in 1997, Venice in 1999, Portofino in 2002, Puglia in 2012, and, more recently, Rome in 2023. When choosing the Italian capital city, executive producer and head writer Bradley Bell said at the time it was chosen for its “effective romanticism” and to pay homage to the Italian voice actors whose voices are used to dub over the American actors portraying the show’s central characters. Earlier this week, Sony Pictures released a new poster for “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” which stars “General Hospital” alum Nicholas Alexander Chavez (ex-Spencer Cassadine) and sees Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt (“9-1-1”) reprising their roles from the iconic film of the same name which set off the franchise in 1997. Like the first film, the new iteration sees five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident. To cover up their involvement, they make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them, and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: Someone knows what they did last summer and is hell-bent on revenge. As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to the two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help. Produced by Neal H. Moritz, the film is directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson from a story by Leah McKendrick and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. The screenplay was written by Leah McKendrick, Sam Lansky and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the latter of whom serves as an executive producer along with Jackie Shenoo and Karina Rahardja. Since exiting “General Hospital” in early 2024, Chavez has gone on to make a name for himself in Hollywood, starring in Netflix’s global hit “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” and FX’s “Grotesquerie,” both from Ryan Murphy, creator of the “9-1-1” and “American Horror Story” franchises, among other productions. Former “Days of our Lives” actor Mark Valley is starring in the new film from director Luca Elmi called “Hostage,” which wrapped principal photography this week in Kentucky, Deadline reported. Written by Drew Ingram and produced by his Stagmoor Studios, the film also stars William Moseley (“The Chronicles of Narnia” franchise) and follows a charismatic politician’s road to the governor’s office as it takes an unexpected twist when he becomes embroiled in a high-stakes hostage situation that forces him to confront his past and threatens to derail his path to power. Valley will play Jon Lewis, the ruthless campaign manager working for Logan Marshall (Moseley), who is described as a rising political star and the Independent candidate in the upcoming Kentucky gubernatorial election. The kind of politician every voter wants to believe in, a proud Kentuckian, handsome, young, charismatic, and commanding, with a supportive wife and daughter by his side. However, beneath the surface, Logan is a man barely holding it together. While he is polished in public, he’s messy in private and completely unpredictable when pushed. Behind the speeches and the campaign smiles, he constantly flirts with his darker impulses and baser instincts. He is a politician unraveling at the worst possible time. After nearly 20 years at “Days of our Lives,” writer Ryan Quan has exited Salem to join the folks in Port Charles as part of the “General Hospital” writing team, where he serves as a breakdown writer. During his first episode, which aired Tuesday, March 25, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) sparred with her new handler, Vaughn (Bryce Durfee), at the WSB training facility. Kristina (Kate Mansi) shared interesting news about Ava with Sonny (Maurice Benard). Carly (Laura Wright) left General Hospital against medical advice from her doctor and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). Ava (Maura West) talked to Lucas (Van Hansis) about her cashflow problem, wondering if he was left any kind of inheritance from his father, Julian. Lulu (Alexa Havins Bruening) met with Brennan (Chris L. McKenna) to ensure that Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) did, in fact, leave for Steinmauer and was not secretly planning to kidnap her daughter, Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez). Meanwhile, Tracy (Jane Elliot) wondered what would it have taken for Lois (Rena Sofer) to leave so suddenly, forcing Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) to try and get her grandmother to drop the issue. Quan would later join “Days of our Lives” in the same capacity in April 2007 before taking on several other positions at the soap throughout his tenure, including dialogue writer, breakdown writer, and for a brief period, the show’s co-head writer (working alongside Dena Higley). By July 2017, Quan had become a story consultant at the show, a role he held until his exit in January as he left to join the writing team at “General Hospital,” led by head writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten. Quan has won three Daytime Emmy Awards as a member of the “Days of our Lives” writing team, receiving his first award in 2012. Technically, yes. But in many cases, the executive producer is also the creator of the show, and can also be showrunner. While none, except Michele Val Jean at Beyond the Gates can claim to be creator, EP/HW and showrunner at the same time when it comes to daytime soaps. At the same time, both Josh Griffith and Bradley Bell can be considered showrunners for their respective soaps since they are both EPs and HWs. The term showrunner is generally reserved for primetime and streaming shows, but we as soap fans forget that at the end of the day, soaps are no less a TV show than their other daypart counterparts. Just like season premieres are now a thing for daytime as well. It's foreign to us, but it is a thing regardless of how many episodes a show produces or genre it's in.

While the title might be confusing to some, it's accurate with its wording. For the most part, the co-executive producer for DAYS is the showrunner as Ken Corday isn't as active in his role as EP as one would normally expect. I don't say that as a bad thing, but that's what it is. The Co-EP at DAYS is the day-to-day showrunner. Showrunner never implies head writer. Not unless that person is also the EP. Name change isn't really necessary, IMO.

Janet Drucker, co-executive producer of “Days of our Lives” since 2023, has announced she’ll be retiring with her final day with the show set for Friday, May 2, 2025. She will be replaced by Noel Maxam, who has been the show’s senior producer since August 2023. Joining the soap as a production associate in 1984, Drucker soon found herself promoted to the role of assistant to the producers in August 1988, before later being named an associate producer in December 1989. By October 1993, she would move up the ladder again when she was named the show’s coordinating producer. She would go on to become a senior coordinating producer in November 1997, a role she maintained until August 2015. At that time, she was elevated to the role of producer before again changing roles to become senior producer in September 2020. In August 2023, she was named the show’s co-executive producer, replacing the outgoing Albert Alarr. During her time with the show, “Days of our Lives” received 15 Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, winning three of them. Additionally, Drucker is only the fourth woman in the show’s history to hold the title of co-executive producer, following in a line that started with the show’s co-creator Betty Corday (August 1966 – December 1987), and later Shelly Curtis (March – December 1989) and the late Lisa de Cazotte (January 2012-July 2015) As for Maxam, he returns to the position of co-executive producer, having briefly held the title from 2011-2012. He began his daytime career as a writer on “As The World Turns” in 1995 followed by a lengthy tenure as producer/director at “The Young and the Restless” before eventually joining “Days of our Lives” in 2008, also as a producer/director. After spending 14 seasons as Grisha “G” Callen on CBS’ “NCIS: Los Angeles,” actor Chris O’Donnell is returning to television to lead the cast of ABC’s “9-1-1: Nashville,” the second spinoff series from the network’s flagship drama “9-1-1.” The new iteration received a straight to series order and will help fill the void left by the cancellation of “9-1-1: Lone Star,” which ended its five season run last month on FOX. In the series, O’Donnell will play Captain Don Sharpe, described as a rugged fire captain and rodeo rider who runs Nashville’s busiest firehouse with his beloved son. Although a devoted husband and family man, Don has secrets he’d like to remain that way. Written and executive produced by the franchise’s co-creators Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear and “9-1-1: Lone Star” showrunner Rashad Raisani, the show is set to premiere sometime during the 2025-2026 television season, with Brad Falchuk and “9-1-1” star Angela Bassett set to executive produce. More than a year since she last appeared in Genoa City, actress Mishael Morgan is set to reprise her Daytime Emmy Award-winning role as Amanda Sinclair on “The Young and the Restless.” According to Deadline, which first reported the news, Morgan is currently taping episodes at the show’s Television City studio that are slated to air later this spring as part of a guest arc. Storyline details surrounding her character’s return to the soap opera were not available at press time, but when she last appeared on the soap in February 2024, she shared scenes with Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman), Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott), and, of course, Bryton James (Devon Hamilton), among others. Since Amanda’s been gone, Devon has married Abby Newman. “I would be honored, and it would be my privilege to return,” Morgan once said, following her exit as a full-time cast member in 2022 shortly after taking home the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Amanda. “I think when the time is right and when I feel like maybe I’ve even learned more in my life as an actor and as a person and I want to kind of bring that back home to ‘Y&R’ and into my characters.” Separate from “The Young and the Restless,” fans of Morgan can also look forward to her starring in the all-new Hallmark Channel original movie, “Hearts Around the Table: Shari’s Second Act,” premiering Saturday, March 29 at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT, as part of the network’s annual Spring into Love programming block. In honor of her 35th anniversary in daytime, actress Heather Tom is set to make daytime television history as she wrote, directed and acted in the Thursday, March 27 episode of “The Bold and the Beautiful,” which is timed to Women’s History Month. “I was really kind of surprised this hadn’t happened before… really there’s like a handful of women who have done it across all television platforms, and so, I’m really proud to, like, kind of join the ranks of those, like, two or three other women [chuckling],” says Tom, who plays Katie Logan on the soap, in an on set interview with “Entertainment Tonight.” “It’s never been done on daytime, obviously. ‘Cause I think, you know, if you know how we work, it’s very hard to, like, direct while you’re in a scene. I think we both knew that we wanted it to be all female actors and centered around our lovely, wonderful, beautiful ladies and so we decided, ‘Let’s make it about mothers and daughters.’ And then it was about figuring out how we were going to actually have me act in a scene and direct at the same time, because, with daytime, we have multiple cameras and so as a director, you go through your script and your scenes and you map out all of your shots. “You know how you want the camera to move and you know what shots you want and it all moves very kind of seamlessly, but fast, because you’re sitting in the booth and you’re [she snaps her fingers] snapping between the different characters or cameras — and that becomes very hard to do when you’re actually also in the scene. As it turns out, you actually can’t be in two places at once. I didn’t want there to be any doubt in anyone’s minds — especially the actors’ minds — that whatever work they did was not going to be captured somehow. I did not want them to worry about the technical [aspect of things] or the logistics; I didn’t want the technical to get involved in the way of the emotional,” said Tom, recalling the experience. “My biggest concern was making sure that everyone felt confident to work, and on those scenes in particular. And then my other concern was that we live in a world, in a genre, where we don’t have any time, and we have to make our day [i.e., complete all the scenes scheduled to be shot that day]. I did not want this to be [a situation where people would think], “Oh, my God, that was a nightmare!” And it wasn’t. We made our day, and the emotional stuff took a minute, as I knew it would, but we were able to spend the time on the stuff that we wanted to spend the time on, that we needed to spend the time on.
