Realism on Soap Operas
Since this post was recently brought back up, I've been for and against reducing episodes for the daytime soaps. Reducing episodes in order for the networks to air something else on a day or two the soaps don't air could influence a quick cancellation if the other show does extremely well. At the same time, a reduced number of episodes per week could hold viewer attention spans better than a five-hour per week series can for those who aren't currently tuning in. That's where I do favor the half-hour format for the soaps as 2.5 hours is easier to digest than the aforementioned five hours. Plus, the networks or production companies that produce the soaps could sell them to international markets a lot easier or to a streaming service without much commitment from those who haven't been watching for 30+ years. "B&B" is as popular as it is due to its content as it is to its length. It's easier to showcase a marathon (or "binge" as today's viewers would say) for a half-hour show than it is for an hour-long.

Full Episodes of ‘Days of our Lives’ to Stream Exclusively on Peacock
With the rebranding of CBS All Access to Paramount+, CBS was forced to relaunch its CBS App because people still pay cable subscription fees to the network and they have to provide content to said paying subscribers as long as they continue providing Live TV services in the app and additional episodes not available for free on the app itself. Same for NBC and its paying subscribers. Until cable and satellite contracts include some form of a subscription plan to each network’s streaming platforms, these network will still have to provide an app of some sort for people who need it. As for DAYS, it seemed pretty clear to me in my convo with Ken Corday that the renewal with NBC did have some Peacock stipulations. Now that we’re a few months beyond the renewal order and the current season is wrapping up in September, it makes sense that the contract stipulated exclusive streaming rights for the show on Peacock. How much more content will be available there is anyone’s guess, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of the DOOL App content also gets migrated to Peacock as well. Outside of the current content, I wouldn’t be surprised if they are soon able to release special episodes here and there since it wouldn’t be full seasons which is where the problem lies in terms of releasing older soap episodes. Meanwhile, TV ratings do suck (less so when compared to primetime these days) and I do not believe people should be putting stock in ratings not mattering at all, but I’m pleased with where DAYS could be heading knowing that for the first time in more than 15 years NBC is showing how much the show means to them. Remember it’s show, not tell. We’ll be seeing how much more “show” they’ll provide in the near future. Can’t wait.

For 2021-2022 eligibility (meaning January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021; but awards airs in 2022) you have to be 21 or younger. For 2022-2023 (meaning January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022; but awards airs in 2023) you have to be 18 or younger. That's what I understood.

Days Renewed for 2 years!
Thank you, @Cat. I read this message yesterday and I choked up. Really appreciate your kind words as you saw what I was going for in the piece and I'm glad it resonated. Hoping to continue following this template as we continue covering daytime movers and shakers. Thank you, @DaytimeFan. As I said earlier, if I wanted to discuss storylines or spoilers I could talk to a head writer or an actor involved in the storyline. From the business side of things only the EP can speak to that.
