I wonder how much Albania's entry will change from now to May. They have a habit of changing their songs quite radically on occasion.

I appreciate the throwback to Poupée de cire, poupée de son from Luxembourg, (I can't believe that song is now 60 years old!) and it's a reasonably catchy song, but Laura Thorn can't hold a candle to France Gall's charisma.

Montenegro's song perhaps isn't bad, but it's boring. I like Balkan ballads, but we've heard so much better than this over the years.

Not all that impressed with any of those entries. I guess Greece can get some bonus points for those Nana Mouskouri-inspired glasses.

(Nana had a better song though when she entered ESC in 1963).

Slovenia's song might have been better sung in Slovenian. When sung in English you can hear how bad the lyrics actually are. That is too often the case when non-English speakers try to write lyrics in English.

Spain's song is not entirely bad, but we've seen that kind of performance a few too many times in recent years.

Belgium's song will get the attention from me that it deserves, which is none at all.....

Next few entries ... Finland and Malta are a quite controversial, if you ask me.

Finland 2025: Erika Vikman / "Ich komme"
Language: Finnish, but the phrase "Ich komme" is German and means both "I am coming" and "I have an orgasm".

Latvia 2025:Tautumeitas / "Bur man laimi"
Language: Latvian

Malta 2025: Miriana Conte / "Kant"
Language: English, with the song title "Kant" being in Maltese, meaning "to sing". Let's see if the EBU allows the line "serving kant" (which sounds like serving c*nt) to be sung in the actual live shows.

I don't really know why, but Latvia's song was oddly intriguing. I like when the national languages are used. (Kind of ironic, since I'm from Sweden and we haven't sung in Swedish since 1998....) It did have a slight opening number-feel to it though, or maybe interval act.

I can see why Malta is going for some controversy to get attention, because that song was hideous, and Miriana Conte can not sing.  I would be extremely shocked if they finish anywhere else but last. I would frankly be surprised if it gets any points at all.

Azerbaijan 2025: Mamagama / "Run with U"
Language: English

Lithuania 2025: Katarsis / "Tavo akys"
Language: Lithuanian

Norway 2025: Kyle Alessandro / "Lighter"

Poland 2025: Justyna Steczkowska / "Gaja"

Justyna already represented Poland in the 1995 Contest – 30 years ago. Back then, she finished in 18th place. Can she do better this time?

I thought that Luxembourg's entry was simply a cheeky homage to France Gall's 1965 winner, but apparently there's a stronger connection between them. France's song was about how female singers at the time were being treated like puppets and controlled by men. (A bit ironic since the song was written by Serge Gainsbourg, who had that role in France Gall's early career and whose relation to her collapsed to the point where she subsequently refused to sing his material again) Laura's song is about the puppet finding her own voice and not letting herself be controlled.

    • Terrific ideas -- but would Mike and Nancy's great-grandson bear the last name Dallas?  Yuck.  Any way we could make him a Karr?    And in a similar vein, how could Bill and Martha's granddaughter bear the name Marceau?   I love the idea of continuing the Karr, Marceau, Hillyer, and Drake legacies, but if the new characters do not use the familiar last names, the effort to connect them to the past is rather fruitless.  Just my personal observation.
    • And they gave him a whole commercial and everything! Happy to see that star keeps growing.
    • But the REAL question...   ...May Sweeps...OR SLEEPS...???

    • It's doubly a shame because one thing Long excelled at was using backstory to enhance the present story. I think that's one reason why Josh and Reva took off the way they did--the early stuff is really good. (Unfortunately, they ruined it by overusing the characters). Imagine if Roger returned to get involved with Alex, and her brother and ex, who used to be dire enemies, came together to oppose him. Instead, Mike was nowhere to be seen and Alan was written out for years. Yes, casting would have been an issue, but when you think about what they wound up with for 15 years...
    • I've never been so annoyed to be running late. lol   EVERYONE looks so pretty.   Happy to see Andre and Eva interacting, Mona being there, and happy to see Nicole play matchmaker for Dani. Fingers crossed that FOINE doctor from Nicole's last event pops up.   @kalbir Andre looking like a snack in that tux.

      Lmao!!!!
    • Also gotta feel sorry for Mona, realizing today that she’s only known Leslie for a few months; she’s going to blame herself for all of this.
    • The way this show handled Nikolas' shooting Hayden, Austin's murder, the long slow delay to getting rid of Cyrus, etc. we're likely to have it revealed in a year when Nina is 3 weeks away from leaving and has had minimal airtime.
    • Interesting. I love my Roku.  No, I don't know. Who? I mean Disney def does. I would think a number of parties have stocks.
    • Is he still spamming demands that they hire the campy chick from The Haves and Have Nots? Or whichever show it was. I don't think it's an either/or. I happen to think Dana, Dani, Eva, Nicole, Kat, etc. are all great. Certain folks aren't going to be some posters' favorites and that's fair enough. But I would argue most of those characters above (and several others) have caught on with a lot of the online audience. I've even warmed up to Martin!
