Well, I think it would've looked ridiculous to have Hubbard playing any younger version of Lucinda.  It's like when they had Susan Lucci play Erica Kane at 15 y.o. for those flashbacks to when she was raped.  Your head is out of the drama completely, because you can't get past the ridiculous filters they're using on the cameras to make the actresses appear decades younger (and I say that as someone who adores SL and Erica).

I don't think flashbacks were the original route they were intending to take; it was a post-Marland death decision.

Slightly off topic, but didn't Hubbard say she wasn't a fan of the way Lucina's origin story was told by Marland, and found the use of flashbacks very lazy in that story?

They were right! It would've been crazy, ridiculous, odd even. That she wanted to do it, is so much off the mark. Sometimes actors have the strangest ideas. I loved that story. Royce & Neal were so good. And it was certainly okay for Hubbard to play their mother. But not her younger self.

I don't recall ever seeing that, but Hubbard was never afraid to say what she thought.

Same with OLTL's many flashbacks over the years with EL playing teenage Viki.

The idea of JC putting on aging make-up to play Lucinda's mother boggles the mind given JC's well-publicized odyssey of facial modification but I don't doubt she would be up for it.

She complained about choices made like having beer cans around, as I guess she felt it was cliched or overly obvious.
