Melissa Claire Egan was on The Talk on Friday Nov. 4 to talk about the depression/suicide storyline.

Here is a video from her appearance on The Talk.
This video starts with a clip of what already aired with Chelsea on the roof.
Then MCE discusses researching depression with the medical consultant that the show used as part of preparing for this storyline, and tells what she learned.
Then this video ends with a preview of a scene from Tues. Nov. 8th episode, which is Chelsea's first therapy session since she began her inpatient stay at the mental health facility.

The Talk co-host Sheryl Underwood noted that her husband had taken his life, and she hopes that this Y&R storyline helps people.

Missy said the show consulted with Dr. Daniel Reidenberg, PsyD, of the International Association for Suicide Prevention.

The youtube and the ParamountPress site give this description:
Friday on "The Talk" actress Melissa Claire Egan CBS' THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS shares a sneak peek and opens up about her character Chelsea Lawson's mental health struggle leading to thoughts of suicide. "It's been very serious and heavy and really relevant. I was honored to be able to tell this story. It's just so important for these times", says Egan. "It affects so many people and I think it's so important to get a conversation going, even though it can be uncomfortable. I was truly honored, and I just wanted to make sure it was done respectively and responsibly which our show really did a great job of doing." She adds, "We hoped it would make an impact, but I truly didn't understand the magnitude. Just the DM's, the tweets, people tweeting me their stories and their honesty about this happened to my cousin three days ago, or I lost my son a year ago...it's created such a conversation, it gives me goosebumps." Egan also shares an exclusive preview with Chelsea having her first in-patient session with a therapist as she works to rebuild her life.
