Today is the birthday of the HAL 9000 supercomputer in the film “2001: A Space Odyssey.” The date is specified in that classic 1968 movie.  HAL 9000 computer,  became operational at the H. A. L. plant in Urbana, Illinois on the 12th of January, 1992. :D
