Members jo.frank88
So.. I took this a step further and actually jotted down a quick email to send to the management at the Las Vegas affiliate. I know once these things are set in stone its done.. but I also believe in logically making your voice, opinion, and thoughts heard.. so I wrote an email to Dawn Gibbons, the Sr. VP of Communications at KSNV and I was SHOCKED to actually get an email back from her! And not just a blanket statement email from her.. but actually it seems pretty personalized. This encourages me because it makes me feel my voice was actually heard, and that is the most I can ask for. I've attached my initial letter to her and her email back to me below. Hi Dawn, I've recently heard of WSNV's decision to alter daytime programming which will shift "Days of our Lives" to the CW. While I am grateful your affiliate has remembered the "Days" fanbase and it will be avaliable for viewing in your area, I want to ask you to reconsider your decision. While the soap opera genre is vastly evolving to new mediums, there is still no more dedicated and loyal audience than the daytime drama/soap opera fanbase. It is proven that these fans watch their "show" much more routinely than a casual viewer and for much longer span of time (years and even decades). The brand loyalty of these fans can not be matched. The brand loyalty that they have to NBC and your local affiliate can not be matched. Evidence proves this as many of those fans have watched "Days of our Lives" on your affiliate for nearly 48 years - that certainly can not be said of most programs. Due to soap opera fans brand loyalty and dedication they are much more likely to be loyal to your network and affiliate. I am confidant that the "Days" fans are much more likely to also watch other programs on your affilliate, such as your own local newscasts, and even other national programming, such as TODAY, NBC Nightly News, and NBC primetime programming. Losing such loyalty to the NBC affiliate brand would be a shame and I fear might affect the long term growth of your affiliate's ratings. There is alot of power in brand loyalty and people's routine consistent viewing patterns. I thank you for taking the time to read my letter and consider my thoughts. I wish your affiliate all the best in its ongoing programming decisions. Sincerely, (My name) and her response... Dear (my name) , Thank you for your thoughtful email. Many people have expressed similar feelings as you have. I will certainly share this with the station’s owner, Jim Rogers. The great thing about Jim is that he really wants to hear feedback from people whether it is good or bad. He may or may not write back to you but just be assured that your message will be delivered to him either by email or called in to him as he is not in the office today. The opinions of our viewers are of most importance. You taking the time to write to us and especially writing two paragraphs is most valued. On a personal note, embarrassing as it is to admit, I am one of the few that never watched “Days of Our Lives” and it was airing on the station that employs me. Hearing from people like you makes me most interested in finding out about this program. However, if I rented past episodes to try and get caught up to 2013 I’ll probably be dead before finishing the entire series since it covers nearly 50 years. If Jim Rogers calls you please don’t tell him I never watched it! J Again, your email is sincerely appreciated. I am going to get this off to Jim right now! Sincerely, Dawn Gibbons Sr. V. P.
