Hmmm, that is a very good question. Wales and Roman because I've posted with them so long. You because you mentioned covering a story once.

 Brian, eyes wide, covers his mouth so as not to reveal more...

I am personally intrigued with many of you here, but for different reasons.

I have particularly enjoyed debating/chatting with you, Jess, as well as Wales. It is always intriguing how you both can sometimes cut me to pieces in one post, yet be cool and friendly in the next.

Roman... I have an idea about Roman. I believe he is the nicest, most respectful person in the world in real life... and I'll bet I would enjoy talking to him and have fun, too.

In truth, it would be cool to meet everyone here. It's hard to do this and not want to mention everyone... I'll avoid doing that. But I firmly believe that you all are great people because you care enough to spend time discussing, debating, and ultimately trying to talk through the issues we all face. Most people don't do that unless they care about others... So I think that speaks well to everyone here. :)

The Story Behind Biden's Emergency Helicopter Landing in Afghanistan

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/20...tory-behin.html

"If you want to know where Al Qaeda lives, you want to know where Bin Laden is, come back to Afghanistan with me," Biden said. "Come back to the area where my helicopter was forced down, with a three-star general and three senators at 10,500 feet in the middle of those mountains. I can tell you where they are."

In February 2008, Biden -- along with Sens. John Kerry, D-Mass., and Chuck Hagel, R-Neb. -- was on a chopper that made an emergency landing in the mountains of Afghanistan.

A snowstorm had forced them down.

I am most intrigued by Casey. We are Ipolar opposites in our views and I can't figure out his rationale for his views.

LOL!

Thanks..I guess...

OMG, I posted this story a week or so ago... Geez, it's true... nobody really reads the posts!

Sorry about that. I am guilty of scrolling through this thread with a fury, there is a lot of information to digest at times...

I didn't mean to step on your toes. I look at it this way....We both thought enough of the story to post it...Great minds...

I'm still waiting on McCain's stance on sex ed. for children. I asked about it and asked again, and have yet to see any links to anything refering to it. All I got was opinions of what he was thinking, which blew me away seeing as I didn't know so many knew him so well.

Roman, I don't believe McCain has a formalized plan for children concerning sex education. With that being said, I don't believe Obama has a formal plan either.

The issue that arose from sex ed, was the "kindergarten/age appropriate" comment from Obama.

Obama doesn't have an official outline or stance for educating kindergarteners on sex, however the McCain camp didn't claim he did, they just highlighted his comments as an example of their belief in Obama being "out of touch" with mainstream America...

I could be wrong, but I dont believe an article (to be linked) exsists that would state either candidates' official or specific stance on sex education. (Neither candidate has any statements concerning sex ed on their website)

The only thing from either candidate I have seen is Obama's support of the failed K-12 sex-ed legislation in his home state.

My guess is that educating kindergarteners on the proper way to apply a condom is likely low on the list of hot-button issues for candidates...

But as I revisit the issue again, I still don't see what type of "sex education" is relevant to a kindergartener. "Stranger Danger?" In most places I am aware, and my work put me in extremely close proximity to education, warning children of the dangers of pervy freaks is already part of a curriculum is most everything kids are involved with.

Bill Clinton Says He Understands Palin’s Appeal

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/23/bill-palin-appeal/

“I get this,” Clinton said. “My view is … why say, ever, anything bad about a person? Why don’t we like them and celebrate them and be happy for her elevation to the ticket? And just say that she was a good choice for him and we disagree with them?”

--------------------

Analysis, anyone?

Here's a poll out this morning saying Obama is still having problems convincing HRC voters to go with him

Obama struggling to win Clinton voters

A couple of other things. I don't understand someone criticizing what we are discussing in this thread (same sex marriage, abortion, etc). If you don't like the discussion topic, either change it or leave. It doesn't seem to me that any one topic has dominated this thread (well, maybe the tax issue) and most people here will discuss whatever someone brings up. So stop with the criticism already. Ugh.

Lastly, on GoldenDogs OT question, I wouldn't mind a group of us - Roman, Jess, Wales, Casey, GoldenDogs and myself hanging out and drinking a beer together talking about the election. That would be very interesting.

Biden says ad mocking McCain is 'terrible'

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080923/D93C985O0.html

WASHINGTON (AP) - Barack Obama's running mate says a campaign ad that mocked Republican presidential candidate John McCain as an out-of-touch, out-of-date computer illiterate was "terrible" and would not have been done had he known about it.

<<Next Day>>

"Having now reviewed the ad, it is even more clear to me that given the disgraceful tenor of Sen. McCain's ads and their persistent falsehoods, his campaign is in no position to criticize, especially when they continue to distort Barack's votes on an issue as personal as keeping kids safe from sexual predators," Biden said.

--------------------

I don't wish to offend anyone, but would the language be too strong to say that Biden is a damn fool?

Loose lips sink ships... remember that old saying?

Once again, no one is proposing that kinders learn how to use a condom. But thanks for the exaggeration. The sex ed that you are alluding to only included teaching kids about "Stranger Danger" (as you put it).

There's no need to bring proven falsehoods back into this discussion when they've already been debunked.

Analysis? I think it was a very good statement for Clinton to make. Other than that, the only thing I can take away from it is a thinly veiled jab at McCain. The candidate who promised no negative ads.

What is your analysis?

No offense taken. I happen to like Joe Biden, but his big mouth has been a problem the last few weeks. First it was his statement that Obama should have chosen Hillary. Then the "paying taxes is patriotic" statement. <sigh> I really don't know what to say other than you're right. Loose lips do sink ships.

The DNC really has to get a handle on this guy and try to get him to stop making this obviously impulsive statements.

I won't name names. But I saw last night someone made a statement that with all the financial issues of the day, we're in here talking about same sex marriage and abortion...blah blah blah.

But we haven't discussed same sex marriage in at least a few days unless I missed something. Anyway.... <sigh>

Man, I'm in a pissy mood today.

Why, Greg, there is ABSOLUTELY a need to bring proven falsehood back into this discussion!! They are fun, excellent discussion-starters, and of course there is also that off-chance that someone will be swayed politically by them. :D

I think Bill says EXACTLY what he thinks... I recall some accused him of being the perfect liar (perhaps a better description is the perfect politician!) -- but I think those days are behind him. I think he has nothing to lose and tells the truth every chance he gets. I don't see the thinly-veiled jab at McCain. On the contrary, I think he likes McCain and likely wouldn't be crushed to see a President McCain. He doesn't stick to the same script as Hillary for obvious reasons. I think he empathizes with Palin given the sort of press he received earlier this year when he was relegated as the Big-Mouthed Primary Pariah by the pro-Obama media. The Clintons have long memories...

Joe Biden. I have said many times he is the most qualified candidate on his ticket. But I wonder if his loose lips can help Republicans make a strong argument that Biden is too unpredictable, too volatile, and unable to restrain his impulsive mouth -- is that acceptable for someone who is a heartbeat away from the Presidency? How would these Joe Biden quirks play on a national stage, dealing with Iran, Russia, etc.?
